This is my first experiment with the LBP level creator, it was an excellent learning experience. I have big plans for the next two chapters!

Hey SeekingTruth86,

This looks absolutely fantabulous! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it on Poo's PSP Level of the Week. I can't wait to try it out, and oh, welcome to LBPCentral . Where have you been? You're late to the party!

Also seeking truth,

Thank for the pregame comment jeffcu28, and for the welcome!

To be honest the thought that a forum for creators would exist never entered my mind, as LBP PSP was my first LBP experience. (This game is a dream come true for me, btw!) While searching google for a workaround for some of the early create bugs I found LittleBigWorkshop, I saw the level announcement threads and thought "Snap! That's a great idea!"

Then, after a couple months playing with create mode and several abandoned concept/practice levels later, I finally finished one, posted a thread on the only site I was at all familiar with, and was from there referred to come over here to this fantastic LBP PSP scene. So... literally just got here ^_^

Anyways, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the level! I have a deep respect for your work, particularly Birds of Paradise and Zen! Absolutely stunning.

Hi, SeekingTruth86! I am glad, that you followed my advice and came here! Welcome! I already mentioned your level in The-Recommendations-Thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=19509-The-Recommendations-Thread&p=427879&viewfull=1#post427879) here and was very glad to saw this level in Poo's PSP Level of the Week.

I already gave you my feedback to your level in another forum, so I will just repeat main idea - thanks for great and interesting level!

And one more time - Welcome to LBPC!

YES! LBPC just picked up another outstanding creator! :-D

I cannot recommend this level highly enough. I'm not going to go into too many details, because I already gave a lot of feedback on LBW, plus I made the Level of the Week #11 post about it, but I just want to say that this is easily one of the best levels on LBP PSP. It is a delight to look at and a blast to play.

I am so glad that you decided to join us here SeekingTruth, and I'm sure that we will be messaging back and forth all the time (BTW, I am sending you a friends request right now).

OH! One more thing. Since you are used to LittleBigWorkshop, you are probably not used to all the excellent bells and whistles that LBPC has to offer. If you have any questions about the site, please feel free to just toss the question my way and I will no doubt chat your ear off

@ali: Thanks ali! I'd love to hear what you think of it when you get a chance to try it out

@poo: Thank you for all your support, I really appreciate it! I'm amazed by this forum, I'll definitely be poking around, I'll be sure to ask you if I have any questions!

Beautiful level. The only part I found kind of frustrating was the part where if u jump on the swinging platforms wrong it swings all over the place and u have to wait forever for it to stop moving again. But other then that loved all of ur ideas. Ended up giving u 2 hearts and 5 stars. Can't wait to see the next chapters.2010-04-06 07:12:00

@ali985: Thank you very much for giving it a play! I'm glad you liked it, progress is going surprisingly quickly on Chapter 2 This feedback is really helping drive my creativity!

@spok22: Thank you for playing! I think the spinning islands part may have been a kinda sharp difficulty spike, some of my testers had a lot of trouble with it, while others made it across easier than I did while designing it... and I admit I was a bit eager to get to the making the next part, so I didn't devote as much time as I could have to stabilizing those a little more I'll definitely try to avoid anything that makes you wait like that in the future. I'm glad you enjoyed it overall! Thanks for the feedback!

I finished playing it yesterday but I found this to be a fantastic level. First off I love how you were able to clutter the area but at the same time still make it so I could fine my way through. The platforming and puzzles were also fantastic. I have to say this is now one of my favorite levels on lbp psp I gave it 5 stars and a heart.2010-04-07 01:28:00

Somewhere around here is awesome sauce.... Ah, here it is!

This level is amazing - seriously cool stuff! The basis for the story is very good and intriguing, and it really makes me curious as to what happens next! I had a blast playing through and watching the story unfold (and then playing through another 3 times to watch it unfold again ). The visuals are outstanding and ethereal - nice decision to use the Alpine background but up off the ground so all you see are the treetops. My very favorite visual bit by far is when you look back at where you came from off in the distance. Brilliant! Really well executed. The platforming is fun and just a bit on the challenging side, in a good way. The puzzle elements of this level are quite good and had me scratching my head in the section with the movable block. I tried one thing, didn't work. Hm, perhaps this? No. Maybe this? No. Ah, there's a switch over there... but I can't get to it. So what to I do to get to the switch? Ah, score bubbles in a weird place, let's try grabbing there - presto. It was really a blast to figure that part out and reminded me of my first impressions of the original Oddworld games - some of my favorites of all time. The humor is fantastic and adds just the right amount of tongue-in-cheek to keep things light and fun. It's always nice to see a level that doesn't take itself too terribly seriously, but is still very well made. The boss fight was really fun and also very amusing - you got an audible "hah!" out of me when the final gag was sprung. Very clever way to end the level as well, because hey - things float in this world so why wouldn't Sackboy?

I didn't have many problems with this level at all. Some of the cinematic camera angles do make the jumps a little tricky, so it's a mixed bag. Make it easier to see or show off the scenery? I'm fine with your choice to go with extreme angles, but it did take a little getting used to. On one hand I also want to tell you to point out the switches and solutions to the puzzle (particularly the sliding block one), but working it out was so fun I say leave it as is. And that's all I've got for gripes!

Killer level here, 5 stars and a heart easily. I gave you a creator heart as well - oh, and welcome to LBPC! Great to have you here.

No need to F4F for me - you got my back elsewhere, so we're good. Thanks!

@himoks: Thanks for playing, and extra thanks for letting me know you liked it! I'll definitely post when I finish the next one, being generous I'd say perhaps another 3-4 weeks. :x Maybe sooner though! ;D

@memorex: I'm glad you liked it memorex! I'd noticed you in the top 10 on the scoreboards of several prominent levels, and I was super excited to see your name on the list for my level! The next one will have plenty of tasty score-bubbly secrets to uncover

@tominater12: Thank you so much for your feedback I'm glad that despite all the decorations the level was still navigable!

@Taffey: Wow, thanks for the in-depth review Taffey! It's an honor, to be sure. I've been playing and replaying your levels since you began the Space Corps series I was pretty pleased with the effect of being above the alpine background, I was a bit worried that I may have began construction a little too close to the top of the creation space but gladly this was not so. Plus that background adds this kinda ethereal blue lighting which was pretty neat.

Thanks for describing your experience with the block puzzle! I'm super pleased with your experience, it's exactly what I was hoping players would go through- trying the one thing that seems obvious, then going "Eh?" and having to look around in the scenery to find some subtle answer. At one point I actually did have stickers pointing out the solution, but after a few test plays it really began to bug me as it seemed to take away from the organic feeling of the level, so I replaced it with more pretty scenery ^_^ It's interesting (not to mention a huge compliment! Thank you! T_T) that you mention Oddworld- Abe's Oddysey and Abe's Exodus are easily two of my favorite games EVER, as well! I can't even count how many mudokons I've saved XD

Glad you liked the boss! I had a lot of fun putting him together, but am planning something a bit more... ah, I shouldn't say. As for the camera angles, I admit I'm sorta in love with them

Thank you so much for the in-depth feedback Taffey! I'm super glad you liked it And thanks for the welcome! I'm already in love with this community T_T It feels like home!

Looking forward to exploring the unlimited potential of LBP with you all This game is a childhood dream come true for me!

(Edit: I'll be sure to try and get some F4F back at y'all when I get the chance, been busy between create mode and the job lately ~_^)

I can see how obvious callouts would detract from the excellent ethereal backdrop of the level. That reminds me, one thing I noticed about your level is that it seems to have been very well tested. All the little spots I'd think maybe there'd be a problem or a space to escape the level had been sealed up and optimized. It's a very seamless experience from start to finish and clearly very carefully made.

It's interesting (not to mention a huge compliment! Thank you! T_T) that you mention Oddworld- Abe's Oddysey and Abe's Exodus are easily two of my favorite games EVER, as well! I can't even count how many mudokons I've saved XDDid you buy the Oddysee and Exoddus PS1 classics from PSN? They play on the PSP remarkably well... In fact they're some of the very best looking games on the PSP period. The resolution and format make for a gorgeous gaming experience. The controls work well too - I have my analog stick set for L2 and R2 and it just seems like it was made to be played on this system. Have you played any of the other Oddworld games? I never finished Munch's Oddysee but I thought it was great, and I absolutely LOVE Stranger's Wrath. Best shooter I've ever played, probably better even than the original Halo. And that's saying something. Of course there's no online fragfest so nobody liked it, but I'm only interested in single-player campaigns anyway, and it was amazingly brilliant. Fun to play through again and again.

Oops, I'm getting off topic here... Sorry. I just love Oddworld that much!

Thank you so much for the in-depth feedback Taffey! I'm super glad you liked it And thanks for the welcome! I'm already in love with this community T_T It feels like home! You're welcome, I did very much, and it's really great to have you here. It's always a good thing to see new folks show up, and it's even better when they bring killer levels with them. A win-win! Glad you've found a home here - you fit right in.

Welcome to lbc!!

Wow!! This level was so good on so many levels. First of all it is beautiful, maybe the best looking level on psp I have ever seen. The platforming was a lot of fun and challenging too. The puzzles were innovative and a lot of fun to solve, the one switch that you can't get to until the vine/branch swings down was very nice. Your camera angles were great too.

This is your first level? I am very impressed with this. I am sorry it took me a while to play this and leave feedback but I am so glad I finally did. This level is the definition of epic, nothing bad here at all. I hope you make many more levels.

Five stars, a heart and a heart for you as creator!!

@Taffey: I actually have only played Abe's games, I still have the CDs for the PC version. Never had an XBox so I never got a chance to play Munch or Stranger's. I was so bummed when Oddworld Inhabitants left Sony T_T Actually after reading your post I reinstalled and booted up Abe's Oddysee again- still as compelling, challenging, and fun as ever. I'll definitely have to check out the PSN versions though, that game would look great on the PSP screen.

Back to LBP... yes, I tried to make sure you couldn't escape the level, it's always a bummer when I'm playing some amazing level and I accidentally slip out somewhere while exploring XD

@VelcroJonze: Thank you so much for playing and leaving feedback, VelcroJonze! I've played your levels and several are in my hearted list, so it's awesome to hear that you enjoyed mine It's the first level I've finished, I've been playing with create mode since a little after the game's release. I had one other one that was almost done, but the early create bugs destroyed it pretty handily, and it wasn't very good anyways

*sigh* Unfortunately today I hit a snag while working on Part 2 and had to revert to an earlier backup copy of the level, losing two days of work  In case y'all don't already do this make backups of your work often!

@X-FROGBOY-X: Thank you for the welcome! If you get a chance to check it out I'd love to hear what you think

This is awesome, especially since it's your first level. The visuals were amazing, I'd agree that this is one of the most detailed PSP levels. The platforming and puzzles flowed through very nicely, and you kept the level interesting all the way to the end. Another thing I loved was how you used the islands in the sky concept, it was cool.

:star::star::star::star::star: and a well deserved heart.

Thank you so much for taking the time to play and comment, X-FROGBOY-X! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I spent a lot of time trying to make it look pretty To be honest while I was making the level it was purely fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants creating with no thought of pacing or flow, so I'm glad (and a little surprised!) that it turned out alright in that respect!

Thanks again!

Chapter 2 is coming along well- I'm starting to push the thermometer with this one but I think I'll be able to fit what I want in it Hopefully within 2 weeks depending on my work schedule!

Wow. That was the first thing that came to mind after I started playing this level. I had seen your screenshots, but nothing compares to the beautiful, vibrant landscape you find yourself once the level loads. There are many levels out there with excellent, outstanding visuals. But your level is the first that feels so unique. You don't pick a standard location (space, volcano, ice cave, temple...), you create your own, magic, ethereal location. And it feels magnificient. Fragile and ever surprising. You use all the tricks: stickers, layers, sense of depth, a background that enhances the floating sensation, special effects (electrified glass, clever!)...

Then I started playing the level, thinking to myself: the visuals are excellent, but I guess the gameplay won't be as good. And I was wrong. Lots of platforming sections, some puzzles, some head-scratching parts... you name it. Some sections where really hard, but never frustrating (although I guess some people will give up).

If I had to pick a flaw, I would say that the boss battle wasn't as good as the rest of the level. The blocky hands felt out of place, and it wasn't as epic as I expected. It was fun, though.

I can't believe that this is your first level. I mean: you're joking, right? Everything is so original, professional and perfectly crafted (from visuals to gameplay, including puzzles and boss battle). Again: wow.

Thank you for setting the quality bar so high. 5 stars and hearted.

PS: When will be able to play your next masterpiece?

Hey SeekingTruth,

Congratulations on the spotlight. You'll already know from reading it that I have serious admiration for this level. There are so many aspects of this level that stand out - the visuals, the concept, the great gameplay, but I really think that among those the most impressive is the way you have developed such an immersive artistic style for it pretty much out of nowhere. The blend of crumbling ruins, organic overgrowth and ancient technology is perfect, and there was just the right amount of text and storyline to make this an immersive storyline without detracting from the platforming backbone.

If there is one thing I'd change about the level it's probably the background in the first section. I know that backgrounds can be really difficult to choose unless you have on that suits your level absolutely perfectly, and I'm all in favour of Cambridge giving us a background that's just sky and clouds, but being apparently quite near the background's ground at the start of the level sort of diminishes the sense of scale, just in the first couple of minutes of play. Very little you could have done about that though.

All in all, a spectacular, beautiful level, good work.

S

PS: Oh, and thanks for resurrecting my TIE fighter thread, it's great to hear people are still enjoying that level.

@Lleonard:

First of all, I'm stoked to see you on these forums, Lleonard! I'm new here, but I've been been playing all these amazing levels you and the others here have been making for months now, and it's been incredible to be able to meet and talk to the creators finally In fact, The Frozen Temple of Skadi was the first user-made LBP level I ever played, and it confirmed my suspicions that this game and it's editor are a dream come true- and that there are players out there who make better looking levels than Cambridge, by a mile

Onto your feedback!

Thank you so much for playing and taking the time to leave feedback I'm very glad you liked the visuals, I learned a lot about what was possible with the editor by admiring the organic and artistic environments you've created in your work, so it's a real honor to hear that from you! And I'm happy the gameplay managed to stand up, too. A couple parts were giving a few of my testers some problems, but they're not too familiar with LBP so I hoped that people with the game wouldn't be held up too long by it.

If I had to pick a flaw, I would say that the boss battle wasn't as good as the rest of the level. The blocky hands felt out of place, and it wasn't as epic as I expected. It was fun, though.

I haven't said it yet but in retrospect I came to the same conclusion. By the time I was putting the boss together, a host of bugs had suddenly sprung up all over the level, and the longer I worked the more the level would break, so I didn't let myself really polish it up the way I wanted it in fear of completely losing my first finished piece. Also, this being my first publishable level after months of experiments and abandoned projects, once it worked at all I may have been a bit eager to put it online and say "Done! Hurrah!"

I can't believe that this is your first level. I mean: you're joking, right? Everything is so original, professional and perfectly crafted (from visuals to gameplay, including puzzles and boss battle). Again: wow.

Thank you for setting the quality bar so high. 5 stars and hearted.

Thank YOU for giving me the perfect eye-opening first experience (not to mention the subsequent experiences :-p) of what is possible in Create mode, truthfully, I learned a LOT by playing your levels! It means so much to me that you think so highly of mine! (Btw, I'll be gettin feedback to ya when I can, there's months of amazing levels here I need to post on, slowly workin' my way through ^_^&apos

PS: When will be able to play your next masterpiece?

After several blunders that set me back days of work at a time, including a nefarious shut-down bug while in the middle of saving the level (corrupting the file and forcing me to revert to an earlier backup copy, lost 4 days of work T_T), I've finally reached the point where I can say it's almost done! The thermometer is rearing its angry red head at me, but I think I can take him. He doesn't look so tough.

Anyways... I'd say Chapter 2 will be done within two weeks depending on numerous non-LBP factors :-p (Though honestly, no matter what I'm doing, my thoughts are always drawn back to LBP...)

Thank you so much for playing Lleonard, and again, I'm thrilled that you liked it!

@salieri:

First: Yay! Another creator who's been close to my heart (well, in my hearted list, anyways ) since pretty much the first time I journeyed to the community moon! I'm honored that you played it, liked it, then holysackspotlighted it T_T

The blend of crumbling ruins, organic overgrowth and ancient technology is perfect, and there was just the right amount of text and storyline to make this an immersive storyline without detracting from the platforming backbone.

Thank you! I'm so glad you guys like the artistic side, I have quite a lovely picture in my head of the universe of Oneiros and the fact it's gotten such a response mean I must've translated it through LBP pretty okay, at least! And I am very glad the platforming and such was fun!

Yeah, I actually wanted to start making the level higher up, but I knew I was going to have a lot of elevation gain in the level (Up! Up! and UP!), and wanted to be sure that I had enough space from the ceiling to fit the level in. If you really look at it, it does seem a bit silly for the sun to be in front of the treetops Part 2 starts much higher up, so hopefully this won't hereafter be an issue

All in all, a spectacular, beautiful level, good work.

Thank you again!

PS: Oh, and thanks for resurrecting my TIE fighter thread, it's great to hear people are still enjoying that level.

It's easily one of my favorite levels ever so far! As I told Lleonard, I've been playing the LBPC levels for along time without knowing what LBPC was, and now that I've found it I have a lot of feedback to leave, because so many of these masterpieces deserve it oh so much I played TIE in the Sky again the other day and thought it was a perfect time to leave some overdue feedback for it :hero:

@Lleonard, salieri, and everyone else who has left feedback:

Thank you SO MUCH for coming and leaving feedback, it's great not only hearing about what was enjoyable about the level, but the parts that people had trouble with or thought could be more polished! I give LBPC :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart! I've already grown as a creator just by reading this great feedback you've all been giving, and I really hope it shows in Oneiros Chapter 2!

I have played your level and it is absolutely stunning! everything is very well done, especially the visuals at the start of the level. I did feel that the story should of started on how sackboy got to the floating islands. The great selection of stickers and materials you used worked really well. I have to say that I had a few doubts about this level after seeing the screenshots, but I was pleasantly surprised at the effort you put into this level! The only thing that I didn't like was the way 'Grandpa Sack' was done. It just looks like you haven't been bothered to create a unique character. I do understand that he is meant to be a sack person but I just detest that sticker!
Anyway the end was well done and I can't wait for the next installlment!

Don't surrender when the Editor Mode becomes buggy, I completely understand what you faced when everything was falling over by the time you were creating your boss. It happened to me many times; I also tend to give up and rush things. Keep up the good work.

@The Forgotten: Thanks for playing and coming to leave feedback! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Hehe, I suppose Grandpa Sack is pretty simplistic. To be honest I have a bit of affection for his cheesy design, at least in this particular case. I'm afraid he retains that form throughout Part 2, but who knows what the future holds for good ol' Grampy Sack

Only me!

@Lleonard: Thanks again! At least we're all in it together

Hi! I just played this and the second chapter as well ^^! And they're both awesome! I gave them both hearts and five stars. I really can't leave feedback now, but on the weekend or when I'm less busy, though, I'll be sure to write something for you .2010-04-22 04:20:00

@Phalania: Thanks for dropping by! I look forward to hearing more

And in regards to Chapter 2, you probably played a version that still had a little bug I was hammering out- earlier this evening I was publishing and republishing over and over trying to get rid of a bug that only happened in the published version of Chapter 2, you must have gotten one of those in the 2-3 minute window it was online T_T The final version (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=25774-The-Sky-Islands-of-Oneiros-Ch-2) is up if you want to re-download and such

You're welcome ^^! I actually still shouldn't be online at the moment, but I'm easily distracted so...

Ah ^^;, no wonder I couldn't find a thread about it earlier XD. I thought I must have just over looked it cause I was in a hurry. I never noticed any bugs, though . It seemed just fine even then. Anyway, I'll be sure to re-download it and leave feedback as soon as I can.

Hello there Truth,

The story to this level is very original. I loved your platforming, it is very fun and challenging. The whole "crystals makes things float" is a very good addition to the puzzle elements and platforming. Your puzzles are fun yet confusing. I always have to wander around just to solve it. Don't get me wrong, your puzzles are very excellent.

The scenery is amazing. Your sticker work, along with your corner editing, really make your level have awesome visuals. You are one of the most creative creators I have seen so far. I gave your level more than 5 plays just to have fun with it.

5 stars and a heart!

@Phalania: There was one speech bubble that was having the last 4 characters cut off... after many frustrating attempts at repositioning and recreating the magic mouth, I just added a bunch of extra spaces at the end and it fixed it ^_^

@TheNerd: Thanks for the play and the feedback! I'm really glad you like the story, the more I create the more attached I become to Oneiros To be honest at this point I'm so overwhelmed by the positive response to my levels that I hardly know what to say T_T So I guess I'll say thank you again for all your wonderful feedback, the itch to begin work on part 3 is getting stronger with every day I am simply awestruck that I managed to create something that other people can enjoy and have fun with!

Oh wow! T_T Time to get to work on part 3, methinks, to celebrate! I'm sure it wouldn't have happened without the help and exposure I got through LBPC, so a big thank you to you all, especially AFP and Domik! <3

Great level, love the way you pack things in tight without it feeling cluttered... makes it feel really immersive. The artwork is great too

I wasn't able to beat the boss, just couldn't figure out what to do... presumably get on his head somehow but I couldn't do it. There was also a bit where you have to grab a vine to make progress, took me a while to realise what I was missing! Can't fault you for my stupidity though

Excellent stuff! 5/5
