Crypt's CanyonDr_Vab
You embark on an epic journey through Crypt's Canyon, trying to finish what your father never could. As you traverse this perilous canyon you begin to piece together why your father came here.
Difficulty: Moderate
Single Player recommended
Hello everyone I've just finished my newest level Crypt's Canyon, which obviously takes place in a canyon and is inspired by the Donkey Kong Country series. I actually started building this level in January but due to my limited time it took me quite a while to finish it. This level is pretty easy, there's nothing too overly difficult, and it's not a very long level either. If you have any suggestions for improvement, I'd like to here them.

This level is best played single player, I hope everyone enjoys.

Good fun and great gameplay. There aren't enough cannon jumping levels around. Just like The Mines by Mm but with different materials and story. I hope there will be more explosions in the sequel.2010-04-04 12:30:00

I like Dr Vab as a creator (Not just for Unfair Platformers) so I'm looking forward to this.2010-04-04 14:57:00

Thanks!

Arctos13: I have a lot planned for the sequel because there was a lot that I couldn't fit into this one due to thermo.

Killzonequinn: I'm glad you're looking forward to it, I hope it lives up to your expectations.

Whoa! Are you the creator of Unfair Platformers? I just wanna say that Unfair Platformer 2 is like the best level I played on LBG. Hope there will be a third one.2010-04-05 15:31:00

Ok. Heres my feedback:

Pros:
It's a very solid platforming level
Nice layout
Good gameplay ideas which are fun

Cons:
Visuals could maybe have a bit more detail
The enemies did not suit the level at all. If you had so sort of just a decorative obstacle like spinners on a piston, not actually being a spiders, I think it would look and feel more suitable. Sorry if I haven't explained it right. I just thought the spiders don't look right and you focused on them alot.

Thanks for a very enjoyable level: 4 stars and hearted

jergi20- Thanks, I appreciate the comment, and I think I will make an Unfair Platformer 3 this summer

Killzonequinn- I know what you mean about the visuals, I had to take a lot away because I was running out of thermo by the end of the level, and I understand what you're saying about the spiders, I wasn't exactly sure what I should make as the obstacle, but I wanted the level to have a "natural" feel to it so I went with a spider. I'm not sure if that made any sense, so if you need anymore of an explanation I'll try to explain further. Thanks for the feedback.

hey man,

Awesome level! Very fun. The visuals were good, you picked great materials and the layering and corners of the floors and ceiling were all very well done. The gameplay was great too, excellent placement of bubbles had me moving back and forth between the layers pretty frantically lol. I thought a couple of different enemies besides the spiders woulf have been cool, and maybe some dynamic scenery like cave ins, falling rocks, etc. would have made the place feel more alive. overall, really fun! I gave it 5 stars. Thanks!

Cool level. Great use of lighting. Loved the spiders and the timed stairs.
Maybe play around with the camera angles a bit. Otherwise a very good and fun level.
Thanx

Congrats for the spotlight!
Well, I had no idea of the existence of this level, but thanks to the spotlight team levels like this don’t go unnoticed!
Dude, that was awesome. I loved its playability, never frustrating and really enjoyable.
Good work with the spiders, and I also loved the barrels. Good idea about grabbing to go up and release to jump!
My only criticism would be the lack of decorations or stickers… the level would have looked awesome. Maybe the thermo is full, but couldn’t you add some just by deleting some corners?

Overall, awesome job!

great level, the visuals were ok but could have been better...only thing i mean by that was that the level seemed pretty empty...besides you and the spiders there really wasnt any life around there...or dead carcasses, and speaking of spiders idk but something about them i didnt like...they really didnt do it for me in the canyon...i was expecting maybe something more aggressive and blood thirsty or something lol...maybe a mammal? anyways it was still an awesome level

had some trouble with the barrels tho as sometimes i would get launched too short and die...or somehow im at the right side of the barrel and i can still hang onto the launcher portion

all in all for a short level it was really nice and worthy of the spotlight, congrats

Sorry I haven't replied to anyone in this thread lately, I've been kinda busy

@poms, Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it, it means a lot coming from a creator as good as yourself. I would of liked to do more with the visuals but I wasn't exactly sure what to do, so I left it as is, I'm also glad you liked the barrels that moved up, I wasn't exactly sure if that would transition how well that worked. I think the sequel will have a few more different types of unique cannons like these.

@shadowcrazy, when I started the level I wasn't sure what types of enemies it would have, and as I was making it I knew I would need them to be moving up and down because of the gameplay I was using, and the only thing I could think of was a spider. In the sequel I think I will have several different types of enemies to add some variety. Thanks for the feedback.

Love it!
I was in the mood of trying some levels from the spotlights with all this LBP2 buzz and you catched my eyes. Let me tell you that I wasn't disappointed.
A clean, fun and simple level, nothing to wierd or pretentious, just good. I love that.
