Alone or with friends, you will surely enjoy this fun little race level. THE PURPLENESS HAS BEGAN! After months of work, I have finally finished my awesome level! It is a Nice little platformer race, with simple but new and fun gameplay. It has a pretty interesting grid-mode, purple (obviously) style. I have spent a long time working on this level, and I genuinly think you will enjoy playing it! Thanks! The level is officially open, and unlocked now! Go play Thanks for taking an interest anyway | 2010-04-04 07:06:00 Author: Fallonjam Posts: 29 |
Just finished it, it was a fun race (I played it by myself but could see how having multiple poeple could have increased the fun factor. I thought you had a very good visual style sticking with the purple. It was well put together with most of the gameplay elements being challenging but just easy enough so that they are not frustrating. For things to consider, you should maybe adjust the one platformer section with the spikes that pop up then slowly go down. I found that that was just annoying and it broke up the pace of the level for me. Also on the part with the sticker switches, I didn't have the sticker, luckily I was able to pick them off of something nearby and place them but I know that for most people, they would have just been stuck there. Maybe make sure that the sticker switch accepts something more generic or give them the stickers at the beginning. I also noticed you suffer from the glitch where stickers turn off and on or switch colors. I heard that is from using very big stickers. Do a search because I remember reading a thread somewhere on her on how to fix it. Over all it was a fun experience that got four stars. If you have a chance, check out my world 1-4 (link is in the sig) and tell me what you think! | 2010-04-04 07:52:00 Author: shebhnt Posts: 414 |
Thanks so much for the feedback! You know the sticker switches are set to any sticker! You could have stuck any sticker there and it would have worked, lol! Anyway, thanks for your kind feedbcak, I will start work on feedback for you! Thanks again! | 2010-04-04 08:32:00 Author: Fallonjam Posts: 29 |
I very much enjoyed this level. It has fun gameplay and interesting visuals. My only niggle is that more should be done wit the visuals. I was thinking that in the blanker areas around the actual level could have some sort of decoration. What I am thinking should be done is hard to explain. Don't use actual decorations as it wouldn't suit the level. It's actually impossible to explain so I won't even bother. Anywho: The level's simple gameplay is performed excellently with a great layout. An enjoyable race. I gave 4 stars and hearted for being fun and quirky. | 2010-04-04 15:05:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
Played with 2 others. At the end I died and the others went up to the scoreboard. I couldn't respawn because of the stupid blocks so we couldn't finish the level. The rest was really good. Nice pacing. | 2010-04-04 15:16:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
Thanks so much tp both of you for the great feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the level, and found some bad points. I sort of understand what you mean by the blankness of the scenery, but Im not sure how to improve it/ want to keep like it is, simple and easy. I have fixed the scoreboard glitch now! You shouldn't have probems with finishing. The level is doing quite well. As I write, it has 1'589 plays, 175 hearts and still 4 stars. It is on page 4 of the cool page. | 2010-04-04 18:32:00 Author: Fallonjam Posts: 29 |
First impressions, nice theme, the two colours purple and white work together well but the purple is the much more dominant colour as it should be. The first fall with the the purple blocks moving out of the way and the springy platform at the bottom works very well. Very nice use of spikes. Liked the use of brains. Loved the simple style used within the level. Only thing which I didn't like was the sticker bit, the only reason I actually realised you could use any sticker on that bit was because I had seen it mentioned earlier on in this thread, maybe a sign somehow letting people know as soon as they get to that part. And also I managed to end up under the bouncing platform at the end as I fell back down, proberly just a random glitch which only happened then but otherwise awesome I loved it. :star::star::star::star::star: Heart | 2010-04-04 19:04:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hey, i played this level today and it was fun and the visuals are also great. But there were some annoying parts where i lost like 100 secs of the racing time -_- But overall a good level and fun to play! 4 Stars and a heart from me =) | 2010-04-04 20:32:00 Author: Chicoleunis Posts: 123 |
Hey, I played it with a friend today. I really enjoyed your level. With much logic and many challenges. I liked the atmosphere and the colors too. I rated 5 stars and I fav'd it ^^ | 2010-04-06 19:54:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
Just played. I really enjoyed the solid platforming design of your level. The creature brains on the pyramid was such a cool idea I was surprised I'd never seen it before. I had a few problems. First, the place where you have to grab the giant floating "R1" block... before that R1 block appears I just kept running happily along... to my death. It might make sense to put a wall there so that people know to wait. Second, the launcher right before the finish seems very glitchy. I managed to fall through the first time, and it was only after a lot of trial and error that I learned to RUN onto the platform, not jump. (Some additional logic there may help... maybe make it pause for a second before triggering. Overall, I had a lot of fun! If you're still doing F4F I'd love to hear your thoughts on my level, TRIAL of SEASONS -SUMMER: link (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=24931-TRIAL-of-SEASONS-SUMMER) | 2010-04-07 02:51:00 Author: Sickivionkey Posts: 70 |
So I went in search of your level and nearly fell out of my game chair when I saw your amount of plays... Holy! Very nice. Can't believe I'm struggling for two hundred plays.... bah. First off, while I do like the name of the level (i generally can't stand forum speech implemented in real life, evah!) and Love the badge and how you incorporated it into the race flags etc. If I'm honest I found the level fun and the challenges designed well. As it is a race I wished I wasn't alone instantly and was driven crazy by the R1 floaty material that spins (oh that frustrated me... darn lack of skill). As I was alone and the R1 thing immediately took me out of contention I probably spent more time than your average player checking out your purple jam. It came as advertised, and I liked it but at times looked a little flat to me... I think if it wasn't a race and therefore moving quickly I'd suggest looking at ways to punch up your lighting to create more detail and depth but that's the only thing I could find to say about this fine level... Congratulations on it's success! While it is in no way mandatory, plays and comments on my "The MUPPET Level" are always appreciated. Thanks for helping me pass the time here on lbp. | 2010-04-07 08:12:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I have taken the criticism in, and improved some of the glitches, the feedback has really helped and I really appreciate it. The level is doing well, with 5000 plays and page 2 on the cool page. Now I can stop republishing I will get to the F4F feedback! :] Thanks again to everyone that has/will played/given feedback! | 2010-04-07 13:06:00 Author: Fallonjam Posts: 29 |
Hey there, got a chance to play your level last night. This is definately one I'd like to try with multiplayer! The varying challenges and a solid color theme were nice. The visuals and music seemed to fit the theme of the level quite nicely, and the gameplay was fun when combined with the timed race. As far as race levels go, it looks like you've created a solid, entertaining level! However, I thought some of the challenges could use some tweaking, such as the spike jumps with the "jumpy" columns... perhaps make them slam shut a tad bit slower. It wasn't so frustrating enough for me to mash my controller or swear out loud, but it was just enough to sit there through several iterations to make sure I got the timing right. It kinda took away from the "race" feel of the level. The other area where I became frustrated was the R1 floaty grab rotating column thing. (I'm not sure what else to call it, to be quite honest.) While I was able to get past this with relative ease, you may want to change the dynamic of this thing to a motorized bolt activated by touch, or perhaps a wobble bolt, flinging the player for X amount of degrees at high speed. Again, my gripe here comes from planning, timing and perfecting the jump onto this thing and grabbing it at the right moment, etc. I can only imagine this gameplay element being exacerbated in multi-player. Regardless, both of these portions of the level were minor annoyances at best, and I was able to get past it and on to the next part of the level by puttin' on my thinking cap and utilizing a little bit of patience. Overall, I walked away with a feeling of satisfaction upon passing the finish line, and for that I gave it four stars. I was tempted to play it again and improve my score, which is also a plus. Any level that presents a challenge and makes me want to do it again (but better) is good in my book. I'm sure I could do a lot better than the 2k-ish place that my score had. There are a lot of "race" levels that are so poorly designed that you get to the end and say, "Finally!" but are left with so much frustration from the design elements that you have no desire to play it again. I had quite the opposite feeling upon playing it, and for that I give you kudos! Good work! | 2010-04-07 15:42:00 Author: schm0 Posts: 1239 |
I find myself strictly playing these types of simple, calculated levels lately. It was truly great fun! I like the minimal look (big fan of Mother-Misty's levels) in alot of levels. I know alot of people like to make these elaborate epic, logical masterpieces, and most of them are good... but theres just something about hitting the nail on some great simple gameplay & design! | 2010-04-08 01:35:00 Author: miltonTPS Posts: 126 |
Tried this one out today, and I had a blast playing. I think the platforming is very well done, and your visuals are nice and clean. My one complaint was the part with the sticker switches. I didn't know what to put on it. So, I pulled out lbpc sticker and voila. No prob. To many people it will be confusing though. Very nice level though. Great work!! Could you give me feedback on my LBP Paint Factory? Thanks | 2010-04-08 23:22:00 Author: smasher Posts: 641 |
this level is epic smeared on a bagel of win. i loved it. everything about it. i don't get what was wrong with the floaty R1 stick thing; i found it fun. the brain stairs where ingenious and the use of springs was great. i loved the basic yet effective colour scheme as it worked so well. all in all, this level deserves that many plays and hearts but it deserves to be on page 1. 5 stars and a heartie from me. could you provide a little F4F for my level Dimension Warp please? i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks! | 2010-04-09 19:34:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
Really nice level. Had fun while playing it. There's a visible sensor switch after you jump on the monster brains or before the scoreboard. Everything flowed smoothly, 5/5 stars from me. | 2010-04-09 22:24:00 Author: MrTran Posts: 216 |
Positives: You have some wonderful platforming areas in this level. I really appreciated some of the innovative platform components that you put together. Suggestions: The R1 tunnel was a little frustrating, because MOST of the time, you simply jumped up and hit the button again, causing the shuttle to respawn, if you moved the button to the side wall, the jump to the grab would be less likely to respawn the shuttle. | 2010-04-10 08:23:00 Author: RoharDragontamer Posts: 397 |
-The set of spikes after the triangly white spring are too hard to see, why are they there in the back layer? In the dark shadow? I dont think you need them. -I don't know what to call them, but the metal things on pistons where you had to try and remember their position without any guides were great fun. -On the purple/white snake thing, it would be better if you didn't see the first few pistons, as you hide them for the rest of the snake. -The white/purple up and down platforms (at the start of the floaty ride checkpoint) were a little too high for my tastes and I got kind of annoyed after dying a few times on the floaty ride. This was my least favourite section as layer switching took over control from the player. and you could skip parts by jumping down. Maybe add some thin glass here to prevent that. -I did get a little confused by the floatly elevator/ride too. First time i missed the button and followed the score bubbles off the edge to an electric death. Why is that path even there/open? Second time I pressed the button, missed the ride, thought it would come back down (so I jumped down the front layer(where the visible emitter is)) and waited, then had to pop myself. Maybe add a hazard down there so the player doesn't have to kamakazi. -After the floaty ride, the player can walk straight off to the left only to fall down and die, and have to do that entire section over again. Wall there please. -I think the first semicircle of grab and electric death was a little faster than the others which makes it harder than the rest. Don't know if that was intentional or not. -At the end on the big jump pad, I always hit the top and came back down. Once I fell through the jump pad and got stuck where the piston is hidden. Just put a hazard down there to speed things up. It did take a few tries to activate it again (for example sprang up too quickly/a sensor radius thing) when I failed the first time. -The platform stage at the end is a nice idea for when you playing with others too. -I don't have the LBP sticker (why was there 2 sticker switches btw?) so I can't comment if there was something extra there. If you have any more room, I would suggest making the race optional or giving a choice of music. I think the same track played for the whole level. A really nice level overall, I would be proud if that was mine. congrats on it's popularity too! I didn't heart it (mainly because of same music/race on replays + not my favourite style in LBP), but I'm sure most of my friends will, and i'll be happy to join in to see how it goes with multiple players. I did heart you as an author to see what you come up with next. (my F4F level link in sig) | 2010-04-10 13:26:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Hey, I played this some days ago.. The only thing I remember was that I had really fun with my friends in this level, and that there was some great obstacles 5 stars and a heart | 2010-04-10 14:05:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
Well I just took the 3rd place spot from KZQ, so I like this level a lot Some original platforms, like the brain pyramid, and ease of use, lent me to rate this level 5 stars and a <3 | 2010-04-10 22:52:00 Author: nitewalker11 Posts: 222 |
