"Joystick controlled" left/right movement
Archive: 9 posts
So, I'm making a survival challenge where you move a truck left and right to stack falling bits of skyscrapers Now here's my problem. I want the trucks movement to be controlled by the joystick. I know you can't ACTUALLY do this, but I want to use some sort of trickery which moves the truck left/right when sackboy moves left/right and stops when he stops. I can't just hook the truck up to a jetpack for movement, I've tried this, and the movement is too erratic, as it makes the skyscraper parts topple over(motorbolt movement is ALOT more stable) Would a hidden PTD work for this type of thing? I just give sackboy a small area to move in and the PTD controls the motorbolts? | 2010-04-03 21:42:00 Author: Unknown User |
Yes a PTD would most likely work for this situation. Watch out though, PTD's tend to be jerky, you may need an advanced PTD With speed control i.e. no stops and starts, more flowing speed | 2010-04-03 21:50:00 Author: nitewalker11 Posts: 222 |
What's a ptd? I published a copyable demo level (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=22150-Vehicle-tools-Tilt-and-motion-sensor-and-control-pod-%28Copyable%29)with some vehicle tools including a control pod that translates sackboy's left/right movements to left/right signals from a 3way switch. | 2010-04-04 04:23:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
What's a ptd? PTD=Player Tracking Device...I think... | 2010-04-04 04:35:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Ah. How would you use a sack tracker in a vehicle? I mean, it wouldn't return to neutral when you let go of the stick. | 2010-04-04 06:01:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |

I borrowed the PTD from the Logic pack, but I also wired it's sensor switches to chains attached to a 3-way switch(which is wired to the vehicles wheels) and also put sackboy in a restricted play area(box made of DM) | 2010-04-05 11:55:00 Author: Unknown User |
Could you just do something like this? http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/SR20DETDOG/Other%20Junk/LRCar.jpg Just set all the switches to dierctional. So when you go to the right the car moves to the right, when go to the left the car goes to the left and when you stop the car stops. | 2010-04-05 15:55:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |

The truck had to be thin layer for the purpose of the gameplay, but cool idea | 2010-04-05 18:04:00 Author: Unknown User |
