More ways to save thermo
Archive: 5 posts
I was doing some experiments with trying to save on thermo and made a couple of interesting discoveries Checkpoints First of all the standard checkpoint and double-life checkpoint act as one object. Meaning the first one you place will take up a chunk of thermo but the second one will only take up a small amount. Secondly the 3 different types of checkpoints take up different amounts of thermo. Going from most thermo used to least they go: - Standard Checkpoint/Double-Life Checkpoint - Entrance Checkpoint - Infinite-Life Checpoint Explosives Now explosives are quite thermo hungry considering they're a one use item. Obviously the impact explosive uses the most thermo space and the standard explosive uses less. Here's the interesting part though. The explosive that comes with the MGS pack is made up of 2 parts. There is the rocket and the explosive (Impact). By seperating these 2 parts you can capture them induvidually. The explosive section seems to take up very little thermo, almost none. 83 can be placed without moving the thermo at all. | 2010-04-03 01:36:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
I have something that I want to add to the check point part. You can save thermo space by starting you level with an infinite life check point instead of an entrance. All you have to do is put and inverted grab switch on the check point and wire it up. | 2010-08-28 06:23:00 Author: Unknown User |
Helpful. I'm gonna use that explosive trick in my next level. I'll also get rid of the entrance. Thanks. | 2010-09-08 20:53:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Hehe, This thread is kinda embarrassing, I was hoping it would stay buried. But I guess if it helped someone. | 2010-09-09 00:44:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
It's a very helpful tutorial 'cos all my levels overheat. I have something else to add. 'Use less materials'. On my level CrayZee Colours it took up very little thermo because the only materials I used were cardboard, dark matter, dissolve, ice and basic sponge. Very few materials compared to others. Hope this li'l tip helps ya too. | 2010-09-09 07:28:00 Author: mutant_red_peas Posts: 516 |
