Is This Well Known At All?

Archive: 12 posts

Okay, recently I've been fooling around stickering different materials to see how they look...

I've noticed a few that I really liked, but I knew I would. (Gold coins...)

I've also noticed a few surprisingly cool ones.

Three of the Cardboard materials look like Ribbed Cardboard.

If you put the basic cardboard's texture (Photo) on it, it looks like a new material!

Also, the "Silk Pattern" has a very strong wavy pattern, reminiscent to the way Dark Matter looked before Leerdammer.

Just sticker Dark Matter's texture on it, and it looks just like it used to! (Except it doesn't float, and it's grabbable...)

The Valentines Day Wrapping paper, when stickered white, looks like wrinkled paper!

I figure that with custom stickers, you could make it look like you made new materials, complete with a physical pattern. (The graph paper on the Info Moon looks nice.)

Does anyone else know any other interesting combinations?

I fooled around with stickering different sponges once, and it amazed me how many different textures there were that you could only notice from stickering. I'm definitely curious to learn any good combinations.2010-04-03 01:14:00

Hmm... sounds like an interesting future thread/archeive. If you could possibly capture a photo of wrapping paper and put it on the 'Wrinkeled Paper' Could you somewhat create a non DLC material?2010-04-03 01:33:00

I have been playing around with this in my latest level.
I find the polystyrene looks like a building when stickered.
Would be nice if someone made a level with all materials stickered over, just to highlight the patterns.

While we're on the topic, anyone know materials with patterns that look like buildings?
As "brown cardboard skyscraper" is useless when stickered.

If you mean something which has a pattern of regular squares, try Ceramic Tile from the Wedding theme.

Yeah this is well known, have you ever notice sometimes you enter a level....

And your asking yourself...."What is this material???" Thats exactly the samething, sticker have different adjustments or behavior in different materials like 4 example...

Im pretty sure due to testing stuff out myself well I think that stickers, photos, snap-shots from an eyetoy all Look their Best and Sharpest in Polyester Material, the basic one on the top row.

Really? No one noticed that it changed?!

A bunch of people noticed it in the beta!

Also, Cardboard and Dissolve don't look very different. Maybe even the exact same.

Try some of the other cardboard materials. They're pretty cool.

Also, custom stickers don't show up well on the Valentines Day Wrapper...
