The Lost Temple of the Last Empiresupa_nady
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14728This is a journey of an archeologist in search of the Lost Temple of the Last Empire. While going through the ruins you will need to solve problems that you face to continue in your journey. There are some dangerous things that you will need to pass and many hidden treasures to be found.

This is the second level i made, and i would really like to improve it. please be honest with your feedback and let me know anything that you think could be better. please keep in mind i am only 13!
Here are some more pictures...sorry they are so small.
I recently fixed all the problems and changed a few things, there is now more gameplay and some wicked lights XD

I liked it a lot! Keep up the good work! I honestly felt you captured the feel of a ruined temple nicely! Definitely above average for a 13 year old (believe me I know lol)!2010-04-02 14:04:00

Hey Supa_Nady, I just played your level and really enjoyed it, great work! OK so you said you wanted honest feedback so you can improve it so here is what I honestly thought:

Things I Liked:
- It's great that you have put pictures in your showcase thread, it really helped me to choose the level and know what I was about to play. I know it sounds like a little thing but a lot of people either don't know how or don't bother.
- The visuals in the level were really good. I mean REALLY good! Your use of the 3D glitch (I'm assuming thats what you used) was superb because it added depth without being overwhelming or giving confusing layering issues. Also some great stickering throughout, and loads of detail where you blended your own made objects beautifully with the MM background.
- Your use of global controls to change atmosphere was great; this meant that the level never got boring.
- You managed the plot well, so that there was a point to what we were doing without making us stop to read a speech bubble every two seconds.
- It was a good length; you made good use of your thermo so it wasn't too short but didn't outstay it's welcome.

And here are a few suggestions:
- I played it with 3 other people and we all got rather stuck at that first vine and couldn't get past. In the end Adi managed to squeeze under it (no idea how) and then the rest of us killed ourselves so we could continue; I'm glad we did because the rest was great. I'm just worried that people might give up there because they don't know what to do. Perhaps a clue to help people out?
- I found it a bit too dark in one section. I think it was a tunnel so I understand that it was supposed to be dark, but a torch or candle would have really helped me out there.
- I loved that you put a camera shot in, but maybe you could consider reducing the time it takes to make the shot? It's set at 20seconds which is quite a long time to pose in. Sometimes the funniest pictures are those when you have to kind of rush to get into position.

I know that some of the suggestions seem a bit petty, but the truth is the level is really good and can't really find an awful lot of holes to pick in it

Anyway, hope that helps and well done again!

why are you 13?

i'm guessing yes, because most 13 year olds put a random "lol" at the end of every sentence.

Really great level, i like the theme since it fits the level and i also really like story and oh and i LOVE the boss. The story is great and sets up for a cool boss fight. To improve the level i would suggest adding a few more platforming or puzzle elements or something a bit more complex because only having a few simple things might not attract as many hearts and 5 stars as a more complex level would. But overall it's a great level and i gave it 4/5 stars (would probably give it 4.5 if there was a 4.5)2010-04-18 01:20:00

I was thirteen when I created my very first lbp lvl, welcome to australia.
Bad:
-Few little bugs
Good:
+atmosphere and changing of it
+Non-stop beautiful gameplay
+Not big bugs or stucking places anywhere ( or the I just didn't run in those)

:star::star::star::star::star: for good work! ?So are you now going to play my lvl? Some people do F4F and they don't give feedback themselves and it's annoying!

Great level, nice design and lighting and some cool gameplay elements made this fun.

The use of that single c shape to make up most of the monster was inspired too. It looks great and probably saves on thermo too by using the same shape multiple times. Nice use of the goo splat on the plasma balls too.

The only suggestion I would offer to improve it was the bit right before the scoreboard. Although it looked great it was the same gameplay from earlier in the level with dodging the falling drops and it would have been nice to have something different altogether there. Not sure what though.

Overall a very good level and fun and the maturity of the design is something I would expect from a much more experienced creator. In fact it puts mine to shame. I must try harder.

Hey supa_nady! Great level!

The design of the temple was brilliant and the background really complemented it.

I enjoyed the gameplay, although I think the electrified drops were used a little too much.

The boss battle was fun and the design of the boss itself was very original!

The vines and other foliage around the level added to the destroyed temple look, but I think they could do with some treatment with the corner-editor. One of the vines was made smaller so the detail can't really be seen, unnecessarily using up the thermo.

I gave the level :star::star::star::star: and a heart!

I'd appreciate it if you could give my level some feedback! It's called Power of the Planet. (The link is in my sig )

Hey, this is definitely a nice level for a 13-year old! (But what am I to say, only a couple of years older )
Nice visuals, good use of the Multi-layer glitch and the monster was really cool! Though the text after it said, could that be the last Empire? I'm pretty sure you meant "emperor" because he was only a single person. I got a very FF'ish feel right after I beat him. Don't know why. Then there's the puzzle I got stuck on. There were fabric balls, which I lit up by grabbing on them. All three. But nothing seemed to happen. It didn't open a door and I didn't see another ball anywhere. Considering how easy your other puzzles were, I gave up and thought it was a wiring problem. Fix it/ tell the answer to the puzzle and I am willing to play it again. Anyway, the puzzles were really easy and had too much direction IMO, You should try making them a little harder.

I gave this one 4 stars, and the only thing keeping it from 5 is the lack of challenge. Don't underestimate people's puzzle-solving abilities(or put the hint as an optional, like in TheAdipose's and Luos_Desruc's In pursuit of the meddling magpie.)

I played this level yesterday and it is cool. I like the 3D layer glitch and the boss battle is wicked. I had a same problem Arradi had when there's nothing to do during the 3 swingy fabric balls. I'll go back to this level as soon as you fix that problem. Overall, the level is fun and I gave it 4 stars, even if there's no way out of the swingy fabric balls part. You did really good for a 13 year old.2010-04-20 22:40:00

Hi, I played your level. Overall, I think it's a great level (even without having into account you are 13!). The gameplay is nice, and the visuals really good. Overall, 4*. Nevertheless, I got stuck . After the monster, there is a locked door, and three round things you can grab. I grabbed them... and then? what is it supposed I have to do after? Well, anyway, regarding the part of the level I saw:

GOOD:

- the visuals are nice
- the gameplay is funny. Perhaps, too easy
- the dragon is awesome!

THINGS I WOULD TRY TO IMPROVE:
- perhaps it's only me, but I found the level lagy. I mean, you used the 3D layers glitch, and this made the level too heavy. At least, for my system. Do something else experience this?
- I got stuck. Perhaps, you should give some more clues in the are after the dragon
- The boss is really cool, but I think it would make more sense if you use fire instead of plasma balls. It could be more coherent with the aspect of the monster

Summarizing, the level is cool, and I find few changes you can make to improve it. Congratulations.

Could you please take a look at my F4F level?

I just played through your level a couple of times, and here are my thoughts

-I must say, the aesthetics are pretty cool. It definitely captures the feel of some ancient ruins.
-The part with the waterfall - there's an awful lot of slwodown with the framerate around that area, and it's really distracting. I would actually suggest making a waterfall by emitting sheets of glass (like creators did for water before the water pack came out)
-It felt like there was a time where you didn't know what to do, so you put a giant pile of bubbles. I think it'd be better to put some platforming obstacles there with a few point bubbles overhead, to keep the flow of the level and not make the player stop and slowly inch along, picking up each one. (the problem with that at this point would be the fact that it would make the current high scores unreachable).
-There's a part where there's cutscene text that shows a door and says something like "How am I gonna be able to open this door?" and presumably you're supposed to grab the three pieces of grabbable material to turn the lights on and open the door. Well, the thing is, the door's already open, and it shuts when you grab the hanging grabbable material (this is why I say I had to play it "a couple of times"). All you'd need to do, though, is set the piston on the door to "inverted," and it's fixed.

Other than that, I enjoyed your level and gave it 4 stars.

Wow, that was awesome. Especially for a 13 year old. The atmosphere was perfect and the platforming was straightforward yet fun. I liked the boss aswel, good stuff! Although at one or two points I got stuck and didn't know what to do! But I figured out eventually.

The only other problem was the lag, it was really laggy for me for some reason, but not that big of a deal.
Anyway, thanks for the fun! 5 stars for you.

Okay, I'm playing this right now, first off, the back ground looks really good, and I like yourchoice of music. The gameplay is good, and the visuals are nice too. My favorite part of the level would have to be the boss battle at the end, it was cool. I got number 58, keep up the good work.

I rated it :star::star::star::star::star:.

Cool level with a nice design. I had a serious problem with the boss' camera angle, couldn't tell which layer the plasma was in! Rotating to make it a bit more head on would help. Also, just after the speech bubble that says "There's been more flooding here" there is set of spikes lying on the ground slightly behind a waterfall; I didn't hit them but if I had I would have felt completely cheated. I don't think they add anything and I'd remove them, but that's just me. A thoroughly enjoyable adventure nonetheless!
