Score Bubbles that are suspended in the air?

Archive: 15 posts

This is the last help question for the next hour, I swear

Practically every single level contains score-bubbles that are suspended in the air (Not on the ground). How do you make the bubbles stay in the air?

They're not really up in the air persay- just hook them up to a rod or string and set the connector to invisible, and there ya go, floating bubbles. 2010-04-01 22:43:00

You could have some dark matter off screen, then attach a stiff rod from the dark matter to the bubbles. Or easier way make a stiff rod from the ground to the bubbles.

Which ever you do, make the rods invisible and stiff .

Simple as that?
Thank you both ^^

You could also glue them to tiny, invisible thin layer dark matter, but that only works if nothing thin layer will collide with it.2010-04-01 23:39:00

Over-engineering at it's best.

Presumably thin-layer gas would work too - nothing will collide with that.

Gas wouldn't hold the bubbles up, though.2010-04-03 00:22:00

Why not?

Gas can't be on the thin layer...can it?

Why not?
Anything gas is glued to will have physics with it. If the object falls, it will fall with it.

It can, but you can't create thin gas any more, nor theck and thack gas. But it still works if you already have it, or rollback your LBP to an older version (which I just did).

Good point. So that won't work. The invisible DM option makes it easier to place bubbles where you want them, rather than messing around with tons of invisible connectors.

No idea what you mean. Invisible dark matter is the easiest way, and you can just copy/paste the bubbles to whereever you want them and leave them hanging in air without a second though. Other methods mean you have to individually hook up connectors.

Also - if the area in question has thin layer immediately behind it - like a wall, background, etc. - you can glue the bubbles directly to it.2010-04-03 03:24:00

Heh, I guess it's an old habit that I don't do that. Back in the day, if you glued score or prize bubbles to the level, when you collected them, it would cause the whole level to come unglued. It was fixed a long time ago, but I still never glue bubbles to the level.2010-04-03 04:26:00
