Selection of Music on LBP PSP

Archive: 24 posts

Well, no one made a thread like this... but....

Have you people noticed the music selection chosen on PS3 seem quite different than PSP music.
I mean, the music on LBP PS3 would have lot's (I mean lot's) of music without lyrics. (Just beats and noises)
Although, on the PSP, they had just any random music that seem to fit the mood of the levels.

The PS3 does contain music with lyrics, but those types of songs had a catchy beat to it.
The only song on PSP that reminded me of the PS3 version was "Last FM" because it was just beats.
I know that Cambridge created this game, but that doesn't mean they could have added more catchier music.

So it comes to this suggestion.
Wouldn't you guys like LBP PSP to have better selection of music.
Something catchy, and no, Glokenpop is not catchy at all!
I mean something like Rhythm Tack 7 (From LBP PS3) Link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBZY49HebFk)
You get the point, right?

So what do you guys think?

Mostly I just want to be able to upload mp3s for use.If they do that I won't care what music the put in, as I'll always be using my own.2010-04-01 22:24:00

I'm pretty sure LittleBigPlanet will never do that

I think that a lot of people are really pleased with LBP PSP's music. I can agree with you 100% that I have a hard time finding a variety of songs to toss into one of my moody RPG levels, but I can usually make it work somehow. To be fair, though, I had a hard time finding a good set of songs on LBP PS3 for my levels as well. I ended up recycling the same 4 or 5 songs in every level. The thing that I REALLY liked about PS3 is the music where you adjust the instruments that were playing! That REALLY helped to change songs that wouldn't really work in a level (like the Monster Pack song) into something awesome :-)

I'm going to be plain honest with you... are you ready for this... I actually didn't ming Glokenpop until EVERYONE and their mom put it in their level for that first batch of levels. When I got the demo for LBP PSP, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the song :-) I thought to myself "I could never use this in a level of my own, but it is a lot of fun". It wasn't until I had heard it about 500 times in a row in levels that I began wanting to destroy it :-P

Really, I have come to accept the PSP selection, and now I am really starting to like it. I think that there are just about the same number of songs that fit with my style of levels as there were on PS3 (though I sure miss "Cries of the Wind"). Now, what I would REALLY like is some new ORIGINAL songs for the game other than the ones coming with the level packs (though I do like the PS3 level pack songs).

As for MP3s, that will NEVER happen. I'm sure that Cambridge would love it, and all of us would love it, but the record labels would not love it at all, and they are the ones who would be suing people.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they can't be sued for User-Generated Content by ANYONE, not just players. So I think they could. Besides, I would never use copyrighted music in mine, I just want some really epic orchestra music for a horror level. And I could easily find that as an MP3.

User-Generated Content that may be downloaded illegally in the first place.
Not all have, but some have.

Hmmm... you would be using legal music? I'd be promising that I would use illegal music.
Maybe that's why LBP didn't allow it in the first place?
You have to remember just because one person plays by the rules doesn't mean everyone does!

Why is everyone always giving Glockenpop such a bad press? So it's annoying and rubbish and I don't like it at all but isn't that the point? It's making a statement about manufactured music. I just love music that fills your head with socio-political point scoring, it's the best! It makes me want to collect socio-political point bubbles.

Srsly, though, now, guys, right, I have a point here too. All of the 'songs' in LBP PSP are incorrigibly dire. It's all too-cool-for-school pseudo-indie brainache. Voodoo Juju makes me want to tear someone else's hair out and that one with the lyrics "~so back to where we belong...~" etc. makes me want to finish off my poor hairless victim with an ornamental letter opener.

Thank the recently-just-popped-back-out-of-his-tomb Lord for 'Taking Off'. PHEW!

My point is that Cambridge can't be sued whether it's copyrighted or not. Believe me, if a game's makers could be sued for what it's players do, then some nanny would have sued Bungie the first time they heard the f-bomb on multiplayer.

I'm not familiar with the f-bomb thing, but if I did, I would be sure to know why they didn't get sued.
Also, Just because any company gets sued doesn't mean they actually get sued.
I mean, people will probably try to sue them, but will it happen? No

It makes me want to collect socio-political point bubbles.Hmm, I might have to create a level based on that gameplay mechanic. The final boss fight could be with Karl Marx.

It's a good thing I didn't use Voodoo Juju in my last level. ... On second thought, would you mind handing me that ornamental letter opener? Just for safe-keeping. And stay at least 10 feet from my hair.

Thank the recently-just-popped-back-out-of-his-tomb Lord for 'Taking Off'. PHEW!Yes indeed, and House of Hessian Horror as well.

My point is that Cambridge can't be sued whether it's copyrighted or not.I've heard that copyright law is ever-so-slightly more complex than just that. I'm sure it isn't complicated enough to justify years of law school and a professional exam though. I'd say it's a little harder to understand than, say, Pokemon Red but less so than World of Warcraft.

Speaking as a conservative, if you get to kill Marx then I have a new favorite level.

it would be nice if u could compose ur own music using sound effects then put it inside a radio. if that were possible I would have brewed up a perfect themesong for my "Sackula" level. It would definately make every level more unique2010-04-12 16:39:00

Slightly OT: Why can't we hear music on the selection screen. It's really hard to pick the music by just the names. I ended up making a level where I can walk by each one but I have to load up a new level to do so. I'm sure this has been mentioned before... Has there been any word if they are adding a listening function to the music selection screen?2010-04-13 16:20:00

I agree, although I also think that it would be better if music were a single object and then you picked the actual track from inside the tweak menu, like choosing the voice for a magic mouth.

As for previewing the music in-menu when hovering over an icon... I've noticed that the PS3 popit menu can sometimes lag significantly when scrolling through the audio section. I would guess that the PSP would lag much worse, which is likely why they left that out. Sure would be convenient though.

OOPS! I didn't start making anything political just there! NOPE!I do my best not to get involved in political discussions, but there's a couple issues I feel strongly about. First, I think licenses should be required to hunt Teddy bears, but at the same time the hunting season itself should be extended. I also think that avocados should be outlawed, due to the fact that they are disgusting.

There, I said it. Consequences be danged.

On a semi-related note, I'd like to see the note designation in the tweak menu of musical sound objects (A-G/sharp and flat). It's not terribly hard to figure out, but it would be convenient (if you want to make a specific song)2010-05-06 08:27:00

I sometimes make tunes by attaching magnetic keys to a slowly revolving 'wheel' with various magnetic switches and pitched sound effects wired up to it. Kind of a hassle but fun

I wish they'd add some kind of simple synth sequencer to the game... even if its only an 8-bit step sequencer or something. It seems a bit backwards that we can create gorgeous graphics from scratch but the (equally important imo) musical aspect gets left by the wayside.

At the very least, a preview button on music/sfx would be very useful (not an auto-preview for reasons mentioned above)... and making all music / sfx one object with a listbox for sounds is a great idea.

Agreed. I just made a small room with a piano that has custom piano tunes in it. Hope you can't get in trouble for that (it's a song from another game.

Ooh, bring it on! I've had my daily dose of Glenn Beck today and am ready for any argument!
Seriously, I couldn't care less if you're liberal on a Woodrow Wilson scale, I'm perfectly happy to let you have your opinions without intrusion (unlike several groups on your side... oops. *cough* Net Neutrality *cough*. K I'll shut up. ).

So what about Arizon... *shot*,
