Hoarding: Sesame Street Edition

Hoarding: Sesame Street EditionDweeble_13
Soooo... basically this level is about the Grouch's severe case of hoarding. If you've seen the show Hoarders, this should make sense. I made all of the characters in the game, without the help of a ps eye. This is not my next level that I have been talking about, it was just something else I worked on when I got bored, but I think it turned out pretty good. I put a lot of work into this, and it has been packed with a boss fight, platforming, and, of course, trash. I literally can put NOTHING more in the level.

I made some big changes to the level. Now you have to save bert and ernie before you can go through and save big bird, there are more checkpoints, and yeah.2010-04-03 00:28:00

Has nobody even tried this yet?

Me and lemon where joking a little before playing this level..
OMG!! sesame street!! this is soooo gonna suck.
Its probably made by a child, there will be rocket cheeta's and everything will epcially fail.

Boy oh Boy.. I was wrong
And I am glad I actually considered playing this level.
I think it was the most rofl I had today. (Besides me and my brother making fun of Jack Hunter.. some lame tomb raider meets drakes furtune b-series)

I started the level with Lemon and instantly walked to the right,
Invissi wall.. Personally I would build something that is in the way of sackboy instead of an invissible wall,
Maybe a car, a roadblock or maybe a sesame street character telling/asking you to help his/her fellow sesame street friends.

I entered the house and me and Lemon where joking a little.
Oh boy.. the filth.. This looks like a crackhouse.. it seems cookie monster needed his fix.
You did a very nice job on the kitchen, I can tell you spend some time working on it.
After jumping over some garbage.. there he was.. rofl..
Cookie monster was captured and needed his fix.. the poor creature sat there in a cage.. only inches away from his cookies and not getting any.
Slowely the scenery started to make sense.
After saving C.M. me and Lemon saved Big Bird, Bert and Ernie and went on to meet the Crouch.

I never expected to play a sesame street on lbp as I am 26, but meeting the Crouch as a small boss was just worth some rofl and respect towards the creator.

Also all the filth in the level made sense as the Crouch just loves filth and needed his fix..
He needed it so bad that he locked up his friends and continue his addiction.
The filth was also used for gameplay elements.. like jumping over deadly gasses created by older filth..

All in all the scenery looked very nice and fitting for the theme the author had in mind.
Though I would suggest to spend a little more time on the entrance of the level, make it look a little bit more pretty.. give you the feel you really are in sesame street.. Maybe add some houses on the right side of the level that represent sesame street.. all empty, have Elmo tell you he misses his friends or something.

The level was short, but I never ever expected to play a sesame street level, let alone one looking this good and had some fun moments in it.
The fun moments might be because I am somewhat older.. and around my teen years we made a lot of adult-filthy jokes about sesame street addictions etc, and some of them where represented in the level, Intentionally or not I liked it.

I gave it 5 stars due to sentiment, roflfactor and the fact you did a good job at the overall level.

Normally I would be really critical about how I rate my levels, but I am trying to take a less proffesional look at the levels I play and see the fun in them.

I am curious what your next level will be,
even if its another sesame street level!

Cheers, Luos.

Must play!

btw, next sunday/monday I will release three levels..
If you would check out at least one of them you will make me very happy!

Hi!

I played your level as I think my latest may be some long lost cousin-type relation to yours. I liked it-- First off it wasn't your normal lbp fare so you get points for that! The environment was perfectly grouch-i-ful desolate and dirty. Oscar, Cookie, Bert, ERnie, BB were instantly recognizable and I had fun freeing them one at a time. I preferred the sections like the bookcase platforming which broke up the model of Jump-Jump-Jump. Also because the ground is so saturated with debris... I had some issues with involuntary plane shifting, but it didn't result in any death.

While it is in no way required, please feel free to check out my latest The Muppet Level thread here for more Henson Magic.https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=24744-The-MUPPET-Level

i must say, this level made me laugh. like lous said before, I was skeptical of a seasme street level but the fact that it was made by someone who is older, it was a good take on it. The idea that you are doing a bad job for minimal wage and end up working at a house full of characters from your childhood was brilliant.

My only complaints are that when i went to free earnie and bert i ended up in the cage with them and had to kill myself. Also, when jumping up to the cookie monster, right at the base, my character kept wanting me to jump backwards a layer and it made me fall twice.

Overall it was a very good level and i enjoyed it very much. If you can, could you check out my World 1-4 and tell me what you think?

Hey, thanks for the feedback everyone! I will definitely try to address the things that you mentioned, but it is a challenge as the level is so overheated... I will try and get around to playing all of your levels, but I've got a lot going on this weekend, so be patient with me. Thank you again and have a great weekend!2010-04-04 08:27:00
