Danger Ball!

The seed for this game was planted in my head while in online create mode with Luos and some others. I was getting a glimpse at Luos' super secret, ultra fast, dead on accurate player tracking A.I. This device, though in a raw form was still a sight to behold when it was working, but I digress. As so often happens when four folks get together late at night in a half empty level, goofing off ensues. At one point a jet-pack powered tug-of-war broke out over a ball of sponge. Soon this silly sponge ball became the focus of all our sleep deprived antics as it was heaved about and clung to with varied and hilarious results. Even as we were calling it a night I knew in the back of my mind this was going to be a level, and it was going to be fun to play.

So after some refining of the concept, and a cram session of creation, Danger Ball! was born. Thanks to Luos, Fred, ShakeMeUpJudy, and all the others who played, and played, and critiqued until it was what it is today. I truly think it's a lot of fun to play with some friends, and speaking from experience it's super fun with four controllers as a party type mini-game. The latter method of play gets even better when combined with some adult type beverages.

Also, I am throwing my name into the LittleBigWorkshop's Monthly contest, as March's theme is sports and I think this meets all the criteria.

Enjoy as always and looking forward to your feedback,

Yea my new Ai only needs something to feed the zombie I am using for it.
Anyways where do I begin.

As am I.

Me and my friends, may it be irl may it be on psn have spend much time playing around in an empty level, doing crazy stuff.
I still got some cool Idea's on my moon that I might never even use.
It is cool that c_mc actually took something basic we created while having fun into such an adrenaline rushing, fun, nerve wrecking little 4x versus game.
Yes you can play it with two players, but the competition gets going with four players.
Its hectic, its frantic and what I really like about it,
Its length.

7 points seems like a lot, but the more points you score or get scored against you..
the more you want to win.
Having those points in your face the whole time is aggrevating or boosting your self asteem.

If you ever have 4 players in your pod, play this level.
I guarrantee that you will not be dissapointed!

Ok, why isn't this on the cool pages list?

If you ask me this is the best 2v2 mini game there is!

How about some kind of tournament? Would anyone be interested in that?
If so, speak out, cause it would be pretty epic.

Thanks for the positive comments Fred, glad you enjoy the game. I would definitely be down with a tournament, that does sound like an "epic" idea. Let me get a partner and you can of course count me in.

Very much looking forward to it,

Of course I am! Imho it's the best multiplayer minigame on LBP.
It might not have the best design and looks, but you just want to play it again and again and again.
It seems however, as it's a matter of hating or loving this game.

I agree with you Fred, I think it is a lot of fun to play, but of course I'm totally biased. I also agree that is does seem to be a bit polarizing, most that I have spoken to have either loved it or hated it.

On an actual level note, I have some major revisions and updates planned for the level. Based on many plays and a lot of input from others I have some pretty neat ideas that will allow for different types of arena layouts and even variations on the gameplay and ruleset to be selected before the match. I have worked out several variation that might broaden the appeal and allow more folks to find a version that they enjoy playing.

I can't make any major modification until April is over due to contest restrictions so it will have to just hang there as is for now but be sure to check back later.

Thanks again Fred for the positive comments,

If you really want to enter the competition you could just put the other ideas etc. in another level, if you'd like to start with the other stuff in meanwhile 2010-04-06 19:52:00

I agree. And I've seen people from LBPC on the scoreboard, that haven't wrote anything here. It's a bit stupid If they don't like the level or w/e they should atleast let c_m know so he can improve the whole concept 2010-04-16 22:46:00
