Do You Know My Long Lost Game?

Archive: 4 posts

Okay, back when I was 6-7, there was this game, for PS1...

I thought it was called Space Dog, but a simple Gamespot search tells me it's not.

It went something like this...

You're some kind of spider thing, and you start off as a dog. When you kill something, you can get out of the dog, and control it's body.

I don't remember a whole lot about it, other than that, so if anyone has any idea what it was, I'd be thankful.

Thanks.

That sounds to me like Space Station: Silicon Valley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_station:_silicon_valley), but it wasn't for the PS1, it was for the N64...

It was a fantastic game that was one of the precursors to the Grand Theft Auto series.

EDIT: Just looked at the wikipedia, and looks like it was ported to the PS1 under the name Evo's Space Adventures. Possibly a win?

How can it be a precursor to a series that started a year before its release?

Sorry, I should have specified the 3D GTA games, although the same developer that did this created the old top-down ones too. In fact, it was Silicon Valley and especially Body Harvest on the N64 that prophesied their future direction for GTA. Both Silicon Valley and Body Harvest shared the sandbox multiple-vehicle mechanic, of being able to hop out of your vehicle and jump into any one of dozens and dozens in the game, only with full 3D control instead of the top-down approach that the early GTA games had.

Driver was another game that came out around the same time and had awesome sandbox driving gameplay for the time, but totally lacked the "multiple vehicle" dynamic. The late 90s were unbelievably good times to be playing videogames.
