How to get rid of lag in a level?

Archive: 10 posts

I have multiple areas in my upcoming level that lag and it is starting to really annoy me. Is there any way to fix the lag and if there is then how?2010-03-29 06:38:00

You can't exactly remove the lag per se, but you can lower it by doing several things:

- Have less moving objects

- Have more 'zoomed-in" areas, which will make it have less things going on screen.

- Have less large objects, or objects in total.

Good luck, hope this helps.

One way to get rid of lag is to place hidden creature brains on the landscape. Somewhere later on in the level, when you've moved past a section you know the player won't see again, pop the brain and no more lag. 2010-04-01 04:43:00

What he said, or if you don't want them to get points for it, you can either make the destroyable parts dissolvable and dissolve them, or crush the area with a large metal or something.2010-04-01 04:48:00

You can't crush bits of material to get rid of it.
I'd suggest adding proximity switches to sections of the level that have moving parts, eg. platforms on pistons or things rotating on bolts. This way, the pistons (or whatever) only move when Sackboy is nearby. I think AceCreator did a tutorial explaining some tips actually, it was in the Featured Levels section

Hi Taffy,

How does one "pop" a brain in LBP PSP? I thought switches would not pop them like in the PS3 version. I was thinking that I could emit some deadly material onto it with it set to vulnerable. But I wanted to check and see if there was an easier way.

The "vulnerable?" setting does not seem to have any effect, and a protected brain cannot be popped by any means I have yet discovered.2010-04-22 07:26:00
