Anyway, I just decided to make this thread about this pwnsome graphic novel because... um... I want to . Anyway, Watchmen is written by Alan Moore, who is a, shall we say, acclaimed graphic novel writer, having written Watchmen, V for Vendetta and the Dark Knight Returns, among others I don't know of. Anyway, Watchmen is really good, good enough to be on Time's top 100 books since 1929- the only graphic novel there. Anyway, it's also turning into a movie soon, by the guy who made 300 so... yeah. Anyway, Watchmen is kind of the basis for Disney-Pixar's the Incredibles, in that super heroes have been banned (well, vigilanties, since there's only one guy in Watchmen with super powers, and he is basically god because of it), with only a few allowed to operate under the American flag. The story is in part a murder mystery, as Rorshach, a vigilante who still fights "crime" even though super heroes have been banned, tries to figure out who killed the Comedian, another vigilante still working for the goverment. Rorshach is in part the main character, as a super conservative guy who wants to kill all the communists and liberals, politicans and criminals, as he longs for an age that never existed except in his mind. Dr. Manhatten would be god. He can do anything, and is why America won Vietnam. Night Owl would be the batman type character who quti with the Keene act banning super heroes. Oxymanuis is - ah, I'm just rambling because I like to. In case you don't want to read that, then, well, you should read Watchmen. I made this thread because I'm bored, for the most part. Also, did anyone else read it? >_> Yeah.

By the guy who made 300? Oh my its going to suck. I hope not... Watchmen is awesome... Fun fact: David Hayter, who voices Solid Snake, wrote a draft for Watchmen, but it was rejected, partly because it was switched from issues of the 80's to issues of now, with the Iraq war and stuff I guess. now, it's still taking place in the 80's.

I know this is kinda old, but I just hope that what I heard isn't true. I heard from my brother that they were going to change the ending in the Watchmen movie. ... Why... why would they do that? And what they say they'll replace it with makes no sense... WATCHMEN SPOILERS- THAT MEANS YOU, LBM I heard they were thinking of getting rid of the alien squid thing... to framing Dr. Manhatten into launching nukes. ... What would framing Dr. Manhatten do? It would just cause a nuclear apoclopypse, the exact opposite of what Veidt said... Yep.

Plus to change it into something that ruins the whole awesomeness of the ending... One of the great things was that both sides were right in that ending. I wouldn't know what to do, because bringing him to justice would only cause a nuclear war, which is why he did it... BUT blaming Mr. Manhatten for a nuclear war would have the opposite effect-A NUCLEAR WAR! ARGH! THEY BEST NOT SCREW IT UP! ... Plus they say they are getting rid of the island, and the comedian just "figured out" Veidt's scheme. *sniff* best not be true.

Sorry for 'necroing', but I just started reading Watchmen as I just got it today. I finished the first chapter and I am already hooked. :eek: I especially liked the excerpt of 'Under the Hood' by Hollis Manson. I love how the whole story seems so authentic, and like it could really happen. (Despite the Dr. Manhattan-type characters )

I only got to chapter 4 then I stopped reading. Not because I didn't like it but cause I have been busy lately. It is awesome and I love Dr.Manhattan. Can't wait for the movie!
