Top 5 Meanest Tricks in LBP Story Mode

Archive: 11 posts

Well, after having alot of fun (and bad memories) from making my last top 5 (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=24461-Top-5-Hardest-Story-Mode-Levels-to-Ace-In-My-Opinion), I decided to make another. However this isnt really a review, so I put it here. If it belongs in reviews, can a mod please move this?

By the way, this is in MY opinion. It may be totally different from yours.

NUMBER 5
Fire Pit's 2 Laps

Fire Pits can be a very hard level to ace. And when the first time you play it is to ace it, your not gonna be happy. Especially seeing as how it took you 10 tries to actually beat the first lap.

NUMBER 4
The Garden's Bridge (AKA don't hurl the controller at the cat)

If you don't know about the race, your gonna spend a good 20 minutes thinking on HOW your gonna do this. Eventually I developed a strategy where I play with my sister, and when she falls down the hole she turns her controller off so the bird goes down and I can swing across. But still, if you don't know about the race, this is mean.

NUMBER 3
Caynons Final Boss Fight

The boss fight is already stressful, but it becomes just plain EVIL in the second stage. If you don't have a strategy, you will die. And die. And die. And die. And have to do the level over again.

NUMBER 2
The Hamster Wheel of Death till the end of the Bunker

It took me HOURS to get to this thing while I was acing the bunker. And I heard a lot of nasty things about it. The third part of the wheel is very stressful, but I managed to do it on my first try. Then I got on the conveyer belt right after it and before I knew it, I had died. Almost broke my freaking controller over that.

RECAP

Yes, lots of mean tricks. But NOTHING and I repeat NOTHING compares to the next one.
So, so far..

Fire Pit's TWO Laps,
The Garden's Bridge without knowing the race trick
Canyon's Final Boss Fight Second Stage
The Hamster Wheel of Death till the end of the Bunker
And now..

NUMBER 1
The Second Fight of the Final Boss Fight

EVIL. This thing will throw ENEMIES at you that tend to fall down and get stuck until you jump over them, at which point they decide laying on their side isn't fun. He has two different forms, and all of their attacks are instant death. At one point electric balls (I see the smirk on your face) will fall from the sky and your not gonna risk hiding, so you'll die, and if your acing the level your gonna freaking tear your hair out! Also, this boss killed me the most (as in, the most game overs) than any other boss in LittleBigPlanet! I'm glad its dead.

END
Well thats it, my second Top 5. What is your Top 5 meanest tricks? What should my next Top 5? Reply to this thread and let me know!

Well, if y'want my list of the nastiest things in Story Mode, here it is:

Outlaw-Jack's TOP-5 OUTLAWISH TRAPS List

Numbah 5
The 2-player challenge in The Darkness

Sure, it seems simple enough (One holds the light, the other crosses the traps), but the first time you try this challenge it's almost a guarantee that you'll die. If that light is off by the slightest inch, it'll be death by spikes instantaneously. And that's not even including if the light gets stuck at the end of the rail...

Numbah 4
The 2-player challenge in Great Magician's Palace

The Great Magician has thousands of magical tricks up his sleeve... including a nasty little challenge that took me months to finally get right. You and your buddy need to be darn near perfect if you ever want the prizes at the end. If you're off by the slightest inch, it's a fiery end for you!!

Numbah 3
The "Wheel of Death" near the end of The Bunker

Now I'll have to agree on this one: it's down-right nasty. With the ground moving faster than a lizard to shade (and a diabolical conveyr belt thrown in), this proved to be a formidable foe on my journey to Ace everything. It was also the reason why I've stayed away from using electricity for a while...

Numbah 2
The jetpack section of Boom Town

Some of you guys are probably thinking right now "Wait? How could that beat the hamster wheel?" One word: bombs. Ultra-sensitive, bulky bombs. Anything other than your hands will set it off like a firecracker on the 4th of July if it makes contact. The impaling stalactites only added to the frustrating process of breaking out of the caves. For me personally, it was a mockery... my mom sat and watched me get blown up several times for entertainment.

And now...

NUMBAH 1
The Fire Pits

I'm pretty sure you guys have had your share of bad experiences with "The Fire Pits", but for me... it almost made me quit LBP. I mean, how could Media Molecule, a hip, trendy, fun group of creative individuals, make such an evil race that almost put me to tears (and wasted well over a days worth of my life...)? It's already freakin' difficult to keep your multiplier going and trying to jump of tiny, mischievous platforms smaller than your Sackboy's little feet... but going through it "twice"? TWICE?! GOD, THAT'S JUST TOO MUCH!!!
*Stampedes out of thread*
*Starts firing off on random people*
*Returns to thread*

*ahem* So yeah... there's my Top-5.

And for your next Top-5 Clay, how about "Top-5 Most-Wanted Sackpeople in LBP"?

the funny thing for me about the fire pits is that i got lucky enough that the first time i made it through the first lap, i somehow made the second lap as well with no problems. well, hope everyone else gets this lucky? the first lap did take me about 30 tries tho2010-03-28 07:00:00

I actually have a strategy for Boom Town. Be slow, and at the second parts of the bombs, wait for them to go up. Right as they go up, MOVE. Then repeat/2010-03-28 14:42:00

I only have four tips to ace levels so feel free to scold me like you scolded piggabling, but they are:

1) Take your time when trying to ace levels.

2) Don't do additional challenges like 2x challenges and hunting prize bubbles when trying to ace levels.

3) NEVER play multiplayer when trying to ace a level.

4) Study the boss' pattern before you try to ace a level with a boss fight.

Hope these help.

I actually don't find the wheel of death in the Bunker that hard. My Meanest Story LBP trick is when I was trying to ace the Meerkat level in the Savannah. I know what you're thinking, "Why is this his meanest trick, that level is easy!" Well it is, because it was the last I had to ace and I had spent ages on the rest of the levels. I got to the bit where you return Whathisface to Meerkat Mum and the door that opens up crushed me. At that point, I would have thrown my controller at the cat, but I don't have one. I was so frustrated, I stopped playing for a while.2010-03-29 21:17:00

I was orginally gonna put that in the list, but I decided that the garden was better.
