Yellow head! I'm soooo glad LBP has changed sooo much from that. | 2010-03-26 22:54:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
I've seen that before, it appears a lot of people are accusing it of being just like LBP on that site. How did you find the game? | 2010-03-26 23:26:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Isnt that a retexture of Yellowhead? Anyways, its a copy of the VERY early stage of LBP, not the LBP we play today. | 2010-03-27 03:28:00 Author: Testudini Posts: 3262 |
Boxycraft 2 is going to be sold for profit, i'm pretty sure that would be against sony's rule of the LBP copyright since the sprite for mr yellowhead is being used except with a blue shirt instead. Edit: just downloaded boxycraft 1, first impressions, the levels aren't very good i got stuck on the second level because the physics stopped me from getting a ball of off a foot bridge. level design is poor. I had a look through the folders and one of the levels is called the gardens, yep.... get ready to be more infuriated on of the levels is simply called "LBP" unfortunately this game is sooooooo bad that i am not going to play it to find out what the level looks like. | 2010-03-27 10:44:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |

Wow those creature brains look completely original | 2010-03-27 16:25:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
its fun to play this early version (copy) tho to see what lbp was like as a wee baby | 2010-03-27 23:03:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
This annoys me. Even if it's supposed to be a copy, surely MM own the rights to this?... Seems like a total rip off to me. | 2010-03-28 16:56:00 Author: BlahYourHamster Posts: 177 |
just another group o' people trying to get dirt by copying. This problem is somewhat similar to all the sharks/bomb survivals. But one thing they can't copy is a great community with alot of fansites. | 2010-03-29 01:26:00 Author: JspOt Posts: 3607 |
i agree. lets all join hands and download the pirated verion of boxycraft2 so that we may be nostalgic, and bankrupt the company at the same time!! | 2010-03-29 05:15:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |

Well its not really pirating, if this is such a small project that cant establish copyrighting rights then we wouldn't be breaking any rules. That and the fact if they did have the copyright rights and we were caught we just point at the second player and say look anything like mr yellowhead. The early stage of LBP was called Crafworld, is that a little to similar to boxycraft. | 2010-03-29 08:13:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
true. one of us should buy it, and put it on a torrent site. it would be a good brainstorming tool for help in lbp. I would buy it if i wasnt so poor... hence the name. lol | 2010-03-30 14:10:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
Well its not really pirating, if this is such a small project that cant establish copyrighting rights then we wouldn't be breaking any rules. Amusing that you're fuming over copyright infringement when you clearly don't know the first thing about copyright law Firstly, copyright is automatic, infringement of copyright is illegal, so yes, you would be very much in breach of copyright laws. As for the "oh look, they infringed Sony's copyright defense", it wouldn't work either, as you yourself would have also infringed Sony's copyright. You would also be infringing the copright of the guy who developed Boxycraft as much of the game would still sit firmly under the realms of his intellectual property. So that would be a double whammy of copyright infringement. At the end of the day, the breach of copyright, based upon the similarities between the protagonist and Mr. Yellowhead, is pretty minimal (seeing as both are such simplistic characters and don't even share the same body shape). Also bear in mind this is an independent developer, just one bloke, a 20 year old guy who lives with his mum. He's trying to make a bit of cash and probably build a bit of a portfolio so he can break into a career. Is that really so evil? | 2010-03-30 14:55:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Man, the definition of the word "copy" here is getting larger by the day. The only possible "copy" here is the yellow guy that's all. The rest is not like LBP. . | 2010-03-30 15:07:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

Take a look at this picture. http://www.moddb.com/games/boxycraft/images/slaughter-factory-2#imagebox http://www.moddb.com/games/boxycraft/images/slaughter-factory-2#imagebox It seems that the checkpoint, creature brains, spikes and pistons look very similar. http://www.moddb.com/games/boxycraft/images/slaughter-factory-1 | 2010-03-31 01:37:00 Author: Silverpanther Posts: 156 |
The game is the same "genre" as LBP (and I hope some other pro games will enter the genre) and is most probablty inspired by LBP. However, I don't see ground for copyrights problems. | 2010-03-31 15:06:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
