Gangsta life of Detroit 2Jrange378
You and your friends are going to a Lions games! Until your friend gets shot that is. You must seek the help of the mighty Kimbo Slice to get revenge. You will not see this ending coming.
Its been a long time since Ive finished a level on lbp

The level is based in Detroit and is actually a sequel to a level that is not as quality of a level. If you happened to have played the first one, I want to clarify that i did not make it. The sequel is made by me and 100% better.
My priorities for this level were to make you laugh at the conversations between the characters, and making the cutscenes and custom characters come alive in this comedic adventure. With this said there is little gameplay involved. I worked really hard at adding details and making all the custom characters, which i am pretty proud of. This level is packed almost 100% thermo wise. Sadly, i have no means of getting photos of it onto my computer, so your just going to have to trust that i have made something worth your time

I really want to hear your feedback on this level, so im doing F4F and am fully willing to give very good feedback on your level.

Haven't played the first (apparently terrible) level, but I'll give this a try. I remember your last level. The Chromocoaster was cool. 2010-03-24 02:02:00

I finally gave this level a play through. So, let me start off with some pro's and con's:

PRO: The characters had "flavor" and personality.
CON: The dialogue was a bit... over the top. I assume this was done on purpose. However, I think the intended audience for your level would appreciate it. However, the mention of "****ies" and AIDS may get your level yanked pretty quick if you're not careful.

PRO: The level was colorful and the buildings were detailed.
CON: There was almost too much detail in the apartment. Also, there were some strange lighting and shadowing effects going on in the stairwells. Dissolving doors? Meh. It wasn't entirely obvious to me how to leave the apartment, but it didn't take me too long to figure out so this is more of an opinion. The apartment also hangs over the street, unlike any building I've ever seen. (Suggestion: I'm a stickler for hidden areas. Maybe build a downstairs apartment that you can sneak in to? Maybe through a fire escape or something.)

PRO: Character models were detailed and comic-looking. Some actually made me smile.
CON: For some reason one of the boxers had no arms, which in my opinion will severely limit his chances for success. You may want to take a look at the characters again and watch them to see how you could make it work better. (Think rock-em sock-em robots (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xV7cx4cQOuU).) Also, when you are kidnapped by the Yakuza (which, by the way, have made an interesting investment in Pizza Hut chains?) and escape you can actually push the dead Yakuza boss into the little ramp you set up to close in the scene, moving it a couple inches at a time. Glue would work wonders here.

One last note, it wasn't entirely obvious how to get over the basketball hoops. I knew I needed to jump up there, but hanging by the net was not the obvious solution. I tried jumping from rim to rim, which was nearly impossible.

I think your level needs a lot of work to get up to 5 stars, and in its current state I couldn't give it more than 2. However, with a few slight improvements it could easily reach 3 or 4.

Also, I've tried to be constructive with my criticism, so don't take anything too personally. Just one random guy's opinion, after all. See you around!

As someone who lives in Metro Detroit, I find the concept itself a bit offensive and stereotypical. That being said, I'll give it a play tonight.

All in good fun my friend, I live in Detroit as well.

Absolutely loved this level... you packed it full of proper laughs, by this i mean actual comic value jokes not just petty immature junk which we normally see from the little kids. Character design is outstanding and u captured the look of kimbo really well.

Im lovin the fact that people from Detroit are lookin down on the level considering u too are from there!

A last point, I think u may get into a lil trouble (possibly even moderation if ur not careful) with the pimp section... i thought it was hilarious, but im guessin there'll be some who get a lil offended.

Just played this. This level was hilarious and looked pretty good. My favorite thing about the scenery is how you god most of the characters to move, Kimbo Slice's fighting place was just funny to me. There are a few visual kinks that could be fixed, the only one coming to mind at the moment being that you can see outside the level while walking up a ramp-like section of the road.

I loved your sense of humor. Some people will definitely find it offensive, but I think I understand it. It's not so much making fun of people as it is making fun of people's misconceptions of Detroit. Seriously, some of the dialogue was priceless because a lot of kids at my school talk like that. Also, Kimbo Slice shooting rockets out of his beard was enough to get a heart from me.

My biggest complaint was that it was a little weak on the gameplay side, but this is really just all about the humor, so I didn't care. This was really great.

5 stars and hearted.

And if you get the time, could you play my level, Waffleworld Prologue? KTHX!

Thank you! This means a lotconsidering the main priority of the level was proper humor and character design! I was worried about moderation, i already had to tone it down before republishing, but at some point you have to bite the bullet and take a dive. I actually wouldnt might a moderation lol, quickly after it hit cool pages it went from 4 stars with "Hilarious "Funny" and "Beautiful" tags to 3 stars with "Rubbish" "Weird" and "beautiful" tags. I guess the kiddies cant appreaciate a more story based level like this.

Thanks a lot! Im gonna go fix the edges so you cant see outside. Im glad you see the point that this is funny because everybody knows people like this. I already played your level, expect feedback soon.

EDIT-Double post, my bad.

The characters in this level were brilliant. They all felt unique and fitted in with the funky theme of the level perfectly.

Theres a lot of small details in it that were consistent throughout. Some parts of the level were hilarious. Not many levels actually make me laugh.

I rated 5, hearted and tagged funny

Sidenote-You can no longer leave the apartment before having a look around

I found this on steve_big-_guns hearted levels page and I'm glad I did.

Ok, I liked it a lot, the characters were cool, and the dialogue was funny. The first speech bubble was the one that made me laugh the most, and I also liked when you used the word triflin.

So, all in all, there's was nothing that I didn't like in the level.

Hi. I must say you certainly achieved what you said you wanted to.

I have to admit I didn't understand a lot of the dialogue and I have no idea about Detroit life but that didn't really matter because I really enjoyed this level. It was a wacky, fun level and your characters were excellent. I've never been able to make characters at all so I have a lot of respect for anyone who can make characters that good.

By the way is the Kimbo character based on anyone real or is it one you've made up ? Either way it's very good.

The only con I noticed was that when the helicopter was destroyed it left a blob of dark matter in the sky but that's only a minor point.

Overall it was great fun. Well done.

Are you joking? Kimbo Slice is based on Kimbo Slice.

Sorry I'm still none the wiser. I'll go and google it.

EDIT: Just found him on google and no I've never heard of him before. It seems like he was some sort of ultimate/street/cage fighter mainly on the internet so I wouln't have heard of him before as I have no interest in that sort of thing and I probably wasn't even on the internet when he was around. It's only something I've become familiar with relatively recently.

I understand the reference now though thanks.

Thanks for detailed feedback.

1st con- The level was indeed modded erlier today possibly for the things you mentioned, i have regrettably taken them out and used different vocabulary
2nd con- Too much detail is not a bad thing. I fully intended to make the player be able to see into/go into other apartment rooms but have no thermo left.
3rd con-Sometimes the boxers hit eachothers fists together and one breaks. It is unclear to me what you are trying to say about the china guy.

-I added (GRAB NET) In paranthesis to hopefully help the player understand to grab the net not try to jump on it.

I do think 2 stars is especially harsh seeing all the awful levels that are 4/5 stars, but i appreciate your input nonetheless.

Just tried this one out. I think you have a great sense of humor. I was laughing my a** off. Your characters are great, with very funny dialog. There isn't much game play, but I could tell that that wasn't your main focus. I did see a sensor switch, and a magic mouth visible somewhere towards the end though. All in all, great level!!!

Could you try out my LBP Paint Factory. Thanks.

Thanks! The sensor switch is intended, but ill have to check out the speech bubble.

- Update, i have officially maxed out the thermo adding a neighboring room in the apartment complex. I like how his character turned out. I had intended to do this earlier but didnt think i could fit it.

I don't live in Detroit, nor have I ever been there, but that was hilarious nonetheless.

The dialog was amazing, of course. The characters I didn't like so much at first but they grew on me. Especially Kimbo and his rocket beard. That was so sweet.

I think your friend getting hit by the car didn't really gel with the rest of the level. I dunno. It felt a bit too serious for me for a comic level? If he could die in a more... outlandish way, that would be super.

Also, was the pimp supposed to fall flat on his face? He did, it was funny, I didn't know if it was on purpose though.

Thanks man. No, the pimp, or as i call it in lbp for obvious reasons, "Manager" isnt suppose to fall on his face. I thought i took some measures so that he stays up right. Ill see if i can fix that.
The guy doesnt get run over, its a drive by, he gets shot. If he got run over the whole fifty cent joke wouldnt make any sense.
Thanks for the feed back! :hero:
