Zen Garden

Zen GardenMangoTangoFox
Explore this peaceful little garden and the town that surrounds. Look for secrets everywhere, and all the buildings have functioning light switches. If you have the necessary ninja climbing skills, you make find your self riding your very own dragon.
Just so everyone knows, the level did overheat because of the hundreds of tiny pieces used to make each building.
There are literally thousands of separate pieces in the houses all together. I strive for detail, and perfection, and I do my best to make my ideas come to life. Hope you guys enjoy it!

A beautifully detailed level.
Its just a shame that there isn't enough thermo space to make a longer level.

I managed to find the dragon on my second playthrough.

The only downside to the level is the lack of gameplay but that is obviously through a lack of space.
Sometimes its good to play through a level like this that isn't focused solely on platforming.

5 stars for the awesome amount of detail.

If you get a moment try my level out (in sig).

Hi!

Well I am a Zen kinda guy and I felt the need to mellow out and meditate so I played your level.

I read your thread and know that your goal was detail so I understand where most of your thermo went, but...I think you could have achieved the same level by making some of the detailed bits in a different level and turn it into a sticker (example one block with mulitple books stickered to it...I am not saying you did this or didnt it is just an example) That being said I Rated it 5 Stars (it had a 3 star rating and I think it deserves 4 stars) I thought it was very pleasing to look at but missed having some real puzzle or platforming fun.

Overall very pretty

Please play Part 2 of my BORG Saga. Thanks

Yea i got you but, i just like creating little objects, and actual objects not stickers on a block. And since the camera is so close you would be able to notice immediately. I'm fine with my level length, i mean i would love to have more room to continue maybe even double the length. Its mainly a level for a little exploration, and just to calm down and enjoy the visuals, so i don't want the players to have to play for 5 minutes to get to a part they like so that works out anyway. Sorry i haven't gotten a change to play your BORG level, but i will after school today.2010-03-24 11:23:00

I played your level. I like the little japanese dojo visuals. The rooms were well designed and diverse. I found the little japanese symbols on the books a nice touch. My favorite thing in the level was the waterfall, it was stunning, i loved how the drops of water were coming out simulating a splash. At the end when i saw the dragon, it looked cool but i though you forgotto put a camera to see it better. But after reading the descrition it seems that if you go a different path you get to ride it, so i missed out. One negative thing though, with no story and essentially just running through the rooms, i found it a little boring near the end.

I gave 4 stars for the great looking waterfall. Could you check out my new level Gangsta life of Detroit? Thanks!

I made it to really be a secret, so its gonna be a little hard for people that don't know me.
If you would play it again, and check the picture above the bed, shows where u jump on the dragon.
If you still cant figure it out, stand on the mini bridge over the tiny river, then jump onto the lantern, then onto the tree (dark matter behind) and then onto the roof to the right, to find the dragon.
I am going to add little tasks like the towel one, and for each im gonna add a mouth with text telling some sort of simple riddle, about on the the secrets in the level.
And im going to add more secrets, if thermo provides.

Just played your level: great scenery & atmosphere. The waterfall and the rocky stairs are fantastic. Incredible detail on the houses.
Good use of the background, works really well here.
Adding mini-quests like bringing the towel would indeed add some more gameplay. That would be a good addition.

Even without a story I enjoyed the experience. (Not quite as good as a real trip to Japan, but still very nice...

If you have the time for F4F, it would be great if you could check out one of my levels. (I have just published an asian style level. Link below).

Edit: just found the dragon!!

played this last night. very cool. haven't found all the secrets but I will.
The attention to detail is amazing.
I did get a few ideas for lighting effects. I could probably do it for very little thermo. If your interested I'd like to try.

There's not really a whole lot of feedback here. I'll come up with something more constructive after playing some more.
