A Green Sunset: Five Part Seriesgocubsgo2 http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2788/4289169414_37d8e1ecb0_m.jpgOur post-apocalyptic series, "A Green Sunset," is now officially published and waiting to provide you with playing pleasure. It follows a main character by the simple name of Kid, who, together with a companion revealed in Part 3 of the series, traverses the giant post-Armageddon wasteland that is now America. You'll travel to various locales, from a suburb that has lost its name, to a trip back in time and memory, to a church, government capital, and finally a mysterious building. My co-creator was TOWERS_85_87. Samalot from LBPMedia has been kind enough to upload videos of all of the levels to YouTube. And here they are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJkpotHdWPc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMZiG-CkOQk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQeC2oBfUcA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc1ieXQBrVA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37xcuvZjZOQ We sincerely hope you enjoy. This took five months to make. gocubsgo2 LittleBIGReviewers | 2010-03-23 01:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
Nice, played all of them last night. In the first two levels the speechbubbles were from time to time a bit irritating (ie. just before or after a jump) but that was outweighed by the story actually being interesting, which is a rarity in LBP. Everybody else ignoring this: It's worth spending some time with these levels. | 2010-03-23 14:24:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |

Thank y'all (yes, my family's southern) for commenting and complimenting. Also, we're trying to get Spaff to put it on the Mm blog, and he's tentatively agreed, but it's not quite finalized yet. Here's hoping! | 2010-03-25 22:55:00 Author: Unknown User |
Tell him to listen to us while you're at it. Great job cubby. You're an awesome creator who deserves way more recognition. | 2010-03-25 23:23:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
Well, it wasn't just me. Towers deserves at least equal credit for the way the series has turned out, that's for sure. I haven't been able to do nearly as much promoting as I would like, though; this week has been filled with things to do. | 2010-03-26 00:01:00 Author: Unknown User |
Your levels are nothing short of amazing, congrats to both of you! Very atmospheric, artistic levels and quite fun to play. Good play on bomb survival levels as well. | 2010-03-28 06:26:00 Author: Shredator Posts: 151 |
That play on bomb survivals wasn't exactly planned, though. See, the series sprung from one of my short stories--I'm a writer--and the first level is all quotes from it. The whole premise was from that story. It just translated to LBP without us knowing about it, and we only realized it a day before releasing the levels. Anyways, thank you for your compliments! | 2010-03-29 03:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
Well, now it's been officially Community Spotlighted. So my opinion is you should officially play it! And also...I don't want to get too far ahead of myself...but you might not have heard the last of A Green Sunset... | 2010-04-05 14:38:00 Author: Unknown User |

This series was amazing! I loved the game play, the scenery, and of course the story! Something interesting about the game play in the series is that it feels like the obstacles are just an extension of the scenery. Having game play like that really makes you feel the story is real. The scenery in this series was really nice. If LBP had an apocalypse I think it would look something like this. My favorite level was inside of the jail, it looked great! I also really liked the story. Most of it fits the levels to make the experience much more interesting to play. I did have some problems with the story though. First off, I didn't like how many speech bubbles there were in part 1. Don't get me wrong i'm all for a detailed story it just seemed a little much. Another problem with the story I have is the hamster. What is the point of that? I also didn't like the conversation with the creepy guy with a cigarette. Was that really needed? My final problem is the ending. I just thought it was kind of a let down because seeing those bombs fall from the sky brought back bad memories of the cool level pages. Well all in all, I loved this level! Would you mind playing my level Bamboozled? | 2010-04-07 12:53:00 Author: austimerr Posts: 385 |
It was great watching you create the levels, and they turned out extremely well. I think the script is brilliant, and probably the one of the best in LBP, the scenery is also quite good, but I think it was a bit... it is hard to explain.. it is slightly messy, I know it is supposed to be, but, hmmm... it is not quite epic scenery, y'know.. its hard to explain. Anyway the gameplay was also quite good. 5 stars and hearted all of them. The series is very underrated. Ive seen you are MM picked but hopefully you will get on the MM blog. I advise anyone who hasnt to play them :] | 2010-04-07 15:14:00 Author: Fallonjam Posts: 29 |
@austimeer Yes, in hindsight, I realize that there was a bit too much text in part 1. Blame that on me, I wrote everything and went overboard in that level. The point of the hamster (uh-oh, spoiler, kind of) is to lighten the atmosphere and oppressive feeling otherwise in the story, almost as a diversion. The conversation with the priest was a deliberate attempt to try to show how the apocalypse had affected people and mindsets other than the main character. It all has a literary meaning, not necessarily clear to all people. By that I don't mean to suggest anything negative or offensive to you or anyone else. I'm not sure what you mean by bombs at the end. There weren't any, as far as I can recollect. But yes, it's almost a running satirical joke about bomb levels through the series. It wasn't what we intended, but, hey, it showed up. Thanks for the comment. @fall_on_jam Thanks for the comment. | 2010-04-07 21:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
I played thru them last weekend! The first two I exited out early, but after playing 3 thru 5.... WOAH! they kept getting better & better, I thought, with very compelling texts, simple yet deep, & often overlooked gameplay mechanics, and perfectly balanced visuals & theme! Thats what I look for in a good level, when someone knows how to use a select blended palette of elements & materials to maximum effectiveness! Off to play 1 & 2 again! | 2010-04-08 01:26:00 Author: miltonTPS Posts: 126 |
Being sly and resurecting an old thread But tbh, this level needs all the help it can get its still VERY underrated. which is sad. I was not sure which of the threads to post this in, there are 2. but anyway: on with my special feature: I helped along side lbr in the later levels, doing little jobs, here and there. nothing compared to all the work they did mostly stickers. here are some of the main stickers from the series: http://www.lbpmedia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/A-Photo_7.jpg http://www.lbpmedia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/A-Photo_6.jpg http://www.lbpmedia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/A-Photo_5.jpg http://www.lbpmedia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/A-Photo_4.jpg http://www.lbpmedia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/A-Photo_3.jpg http://www.lbpmedia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/A-Photo_2.jpg http://www.lbpmedia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/A-Photo_1.jpg | 2010-05-03 19:56:00 Author: samalot Posts: 591 |
it was an ok series...but to be honest it wasnt for me....TOO much text was put into it and ever few seconds i had to stop and read a REALLY long text bubble...and some of them would pop up at the worst times where then i would mess up and die...needless to say the story was great...but there could have been better ways to do it then to make people READ through the entire level. take my example of jump_button and his ico-like series "nostalgia of the infinite" in his there is barely any text at all (i dont think there's any period but i cant remember) in yet his level plays a story for you if you pay attention to your surroundings...and check out his awesome cave paintings....you never have to stop and read a text bubble... all i can say is you did a good job on story, decent visuals...just the only issue i can say was the reading...it almost made the whole series a chore to complete...and all i wanted to do was find the nearest scoreboard to finish | 2010-05-03 20:13:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
