8 Bit shoot 'em upjump_button http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/2976/aphoto.jpgI been wanting to make a shoot 'em up but could think of a good theme. Well I come up with a 8 bit style shoot 'em up, I wanted to reward accuracy and not how fast you can shoot. hope you enjoy and they a surprise close to the end of the level - 8 bit style - shooting everything you see will not get you the best score - a surprise well so much for that rest lol I couldt help myself but to sneak on lbp http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/2976/aphoto.jpg http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/511/aphoto1.jpg it was a nice easy level to make so it was relaxing | 2010-03-22 19:27:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |
Lookin good! Will play soon. Btw, if you wanted to go overboard with the 8bit look, I believe there is an invisible checkpoint available in a level(will find out the name), so you could make a custom 8bit thin layer checkpoint and put the invisible one in front. You could do same with paintinator, but you can't make invisible, you'd have put the custom paintinator powerup infront of the original | 2010-03-22 19:39:00 Author: Unknown User |
your levels are always so very ugly but i will play it anyway gooood work | 2010-03-22 19:57:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |

I think those are some great ideas. I'll check this out later... ...Hopefully not die. | 2010-03-22 21:16:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |
fun fun fun. my only issue is that the enemy at the first waterfall (the waterfalls are beautiful btw) actually doesnt pose a threat if you just stand there, sackboy automatically dodges. also, i got stuck at one point, decided to try grabbing the soft ground, which resulted in a hilarious glitch. which helped me actually. but yeah the part i got stuck at was after the 2nd waterfall and i shot all the blocks, and i dunno if i just suck at jumping or what. but yeah, if you ditch the gun the glitch can be used to bypass a lot of the level after the level-up | 2010-03-22 21:41:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |

I just played it, very much fun. The level name sounds very interesting, and the badge is good too. I like how there was plenty of enemies to shoot at, and I especially like where I got to level 2. :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart for you. | 2010-03-22 23:56:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |

Oh I though that this was a continuing project made in bits and pieces over a while but supposed you must have finished FFXIII pretty quickly. I'll play this soon. | 2010-03-23 07:36:00 Author: Arctos13 Posts: 258 |

I'm sure you are. I am considering buying it but the genre has never really appealed to me and I've only ever played FFX so I might wait until the price drops. By the way, will the boss of the 3rd nostalgia of the infinite be really big like the final colossus in SotC? | 2010-03-23 11:37:00 Author: Arctos13 Posts: 258 |
I played this yesterday. Fun! First of all - nice job with the graphics. I thought the pixel clouds and enemies worked really well, mixed with a bit of your own style. My only input for the next installment is to possibly add more and bigger enemies. For a shooter it felt a tad empty. I'd love to see a big boss chasing you while you try to kill him.... or a big machinery boss come down that you have to fight. A few things to really kick the action up. | 2010-03-23 13:01:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Just played, great level. Improve: 1. Enemies. Change them to a heavier material, right now you can shoot them over which takes away from the challenge a bit | 2010-03-23 15:48:00 Author: Unknown User |
Wow loved it. Great style and lots of fun. I found myself screaming no at the enemies when they hurled towards me from odd locations but got endless satisfaction knocking them away with a precise shot from the paintinator! Some things I noticed. The sound effect for the red butterflies repeats every time you walk past it, not really a bug but you could attach the sound to a thin dissolve hidden out of view below and behind ground and have it play on destruction with a sensor switch hooked up. I didn't complete it because at the end I grabbed the sponge floor which threw me upwards. Just messing I got up on the top of the castle and jumped over the enemy down towards the scoreboard. I went behind it and fell down into water which prevented me from finishing. Either close the gap or add something lethal I guess would fix that. That's all I saw that I thought needed fixing, other than that great job! | 2010-03-23 16:20:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |

Played this today - I liked it. The enemies seem to stop at nothing to get you. The 2x jumping is a cool idea (not a new idea, but it still worked well). Parts of it reminded me of mario bros .. which was cool I really liked the idea of the disappearing blocks. Simple, basic, but well done. My only suggestion is that it felt a bit empty. I think CCubbage's suggestion of a bigger ending or more enemies would only help to improve this already good level. | 2010-03-23 21:21:00 Author: Powershifter Posts: 668 |

8-bit actually refers to the amount of colors you can use not the amount of pixels... but whatever | 2010-03-24 00:45:00 Author: singularik Posts: 130 |
8-bit actually refers to the amount of colors you can use not the amount of pixels... but whatever 8-bit actually refers to the data width of the processor used... but whatever I played this yesterday and it's pretty cool. I didn't get what you meant by rewarding accuracy until I destroyed too many blocks In fairness it's not so much accuracy, but simply not spamming the trigger that this promotes. Which in a way is a good thing. Paintenator accuracy is pain in the butt anyways It's good how you've worked that into the bonuses but it would have been better to see it worked into the actual main path more - i.e. destroy to many blocks and you can't get to the normal path, so you have to go the dangerous way. Minor things: I did notice the sound on the secrets and that sort of thing really bugs me to be honest. It's simple to prevent so please do. There was a visible magnetic key on the burpy guy that looked like it wasn't meant to be there One of the waterfalls was falling wonky. I couldn't tell if it was intentional, but it didn't look as good as the ones that were falling straight IMO (the others looked great btw ) I kind of felt the powerup was a little wasted. It was a goof idea, but it didn't feel like a powerup. It just felt like a new section where you oculd jump higher. If you actually set it up so that you collect the powerup and then can reach areas you couldn't before, with some backtracking, then that would actually have felt like a power up, and really been awesome. Overall it was a fun level, and looked great, but I felt the concept didn't live up to its potential. | 2010-03-24 01:14:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
8-bit actually refers to the data width of the processor used... but whatever I was told it refers to colors....... Oh yes now I remember.Colors is just one thing determined by it... Right? | 2010-03-24 01:23:00 Author: singularik Posts: 130 |

Played this last night! It was quite a bit of fun! I'm in love with the style you used. It almost felt like playing through a Super Paper Mario level. The enemies were a little easy, yeah. I shoot em once in the air and they just topple over like a sick turtle. LOL at the ending, too. XD 5 stars! | 2010-03-25 16:09:00 Author: GreyMRP Posts: 588 |
Had lots of fun playing this one! Loved the retro stile you gave to the enemies, and the block stile you used for this level. Great use of the paint gun, and I love specially that part where the jumps are higher. (COULD YOU TELL ME HOW DO YOU DO THAT??????) | 2010-03-25 19:33:00 Author: poms Posts: 383 |

Very fun, the visual style felt like skytown except blocky. Also, what is that level with the clock and the orange material and trees going to be about? | 2010-03-27 10:10:00 Author: Arctos13 Posts: 258 |
