Who here bought MGS4. I did. What an epic game so far. Pure value and entertainment in this game. Not perfect like some of the reviews say, but probably the best game in the whole action genre I've played or seen.

I bought it. Hooked. *possible spoiler warning - highlight* Killing the beauty's.. I've been using non-lethal methods and I get they're face camo's. Does anybody know if you don't when you kill them outright? Best game on PS3 yet imo.

I actually fell asleep during the ending cinematic.. they were too long.. *spoiler*I got to the bit where big boss unplugged zero and forgot what else happened.*spoiler* Didn't really fully understand it tbh.. I think it was a great game though, and to be fair they did tie up all the loose ends. It was probably a little too easy, like I went through the whole game using only like 4 guns out of the whole arsenal, and pretty-much only used rations, never even touched the old cardboard box or drum can, MK II wasn't doing much either. They should have made the extra items more necessary or beneficial. Resh, did you find the actual snake eater theme? I looked all over And as for MGO, well that game is awesome. I bought the extra "codec" pack for laughs but some of the sayings mentioned don't seem to be included.

And it wasn't just the ending, the whole thing doesn't make too much sense when you never played MGS1 and forgot MGS2. Like... I thought the patriots were the bosses in MGS3.. "The End, The Fury, The Pain" etc... And big boss was a woman in MGS3, when snake killed her I thought he became big boss... It is just a little weird with all the stuff about the patriots etc.

Big spoilers lets explain Big Boss first -The Boss is a great hero in the US, Naked Snake is her student (he looks to The Boss as a mother) -Threat of nuclear war in the cold war era made The Boss defect to Russia to save the world (explained in MGS3) -Something unexpected happend in the plan, Volgin, antagonist of MGS3, launches a nuke in Russa -US government trying to protect themselves sent Naked Snake to kill her -The Boss, not wanting to cause anymore trouble asked Naked Snake to kill her. -Naked Snake became Big Boss for killing The Boss, and became a national hero. The US government decided that the boss defecting and Naked Snake killing her is a good cover story. However he started hating the government for hiding the truth about The Boss just to protect themselves. Forming The Patriots -Naked Snake (now Big Boss) and his friends (also his support during in MGS3, and know the truth about The Boss) formed The Patriots -The Patriot's goal was to fulfill The Boss's will: a world were soldiers are never tossed aside like toys -The Patriots started to grow in power, and soon they became corrupt -Zero wanted to make The Patriots really powerfull, and use information control to unite the world -Big Boss hated the idea and broke off from The patriots (since he was forced to kill The Boss just so the Government can control information about her). Also note he defected from the organization, he is still a US hero Corruption of Big Boss -Big Boss wanting to stop Zero, started raising armies, intending to blow Zero to kingdom come, he even created Metal Gear -Big Boss realize that "A world were soldiers are never tossed aside" could be achieved by a never ending war, so soldiers are always needed. The Les Infantes Terribles -Zero saw Big Boss's plans and decided to clone Big Boss, 9 babies, all aborted but 2, and ater found out theirs a 3rd -Big Boss found out about the project and had his influence with the US military to put Solid Snake under his command -Big Boss revealed plans for the Metal Gear and had Snake infiltrate his military base(without telling him, it was his) -Big Boss wanted Snake to fail so Zero would drop the "cloning plan" -Snake was sucessful and Big Boss decided to kill him. However Snake defeated Big Boss. fast forwarding. -THe Patriots having too much power thought no man could take their place, so they built AIs -The AI became corrupt and starting using War as an economy Thats pretty much the history of the patriots Solid-Liquid-Solidus -Liquid wanting to be Big Boss's sucessor tried to continue his plan of never ending war and blowing the US to kingdom come -Solidus wanting to be Big Boss's sucessor tried to continue his plan of destroying the Patriots, but it involved bombing New York -Solid Snake, being the guy who disagreed with Big Boss's plan of sacrificing a lot of people just to destroy a bigger evil, stopped his brothers common questions Is Solid Snake a bad guy for trying to stop Liquid, BB and Solidus since they were trying to kill the true antagonist? Answer: matter of opinion, do you think its ok to kill millions of innocent people, and start a never ending war if it kills the people trying to control information in the process? any questions? I explained the patriots, how big boss became evil, and the les infantes terribles... and I am a self proclaimed MGS guru....

did you read what I just said? MGS3 Snake is Big Boss.... So I played as a totally different person in MGS 3? They didn't make that clear in the actual game xD but it makes sense... So that was everyone, much younger? I loved ocelot as a kid... He's my favorate character in the whole series. Makes much more sense now.. but wasn't it colonel on the codec to him throughout that game?

Campaign is, to be honest, pretty short. Ignoring cinematics. Average play time for the first run through is 17 - 20 hours, and thats watching all the cinematics. Although, the game can be played through again and again and still be fun.. so it's as long as you want it to be actually its in topic, what are you talking about it being random? Random meaning unexpected. I know its on topic, but I didnt even know this guy existed.

That's one of the good things about MGS.. it would have made a successful movie, or game (minus cinematics) but Hideo brings them both together to create a bigger story-telling experience, and he does it awesomely. I'm hoping Final Fantasy will be on par with the cinematics.. maybe not in length, but graphics (hopefully a little better) and awesomeness/importance I can't wait for that game tbh, but its so under the radar right now. The previous Final Fantasy was abit of a let-down... Anyway, FF games usually have many, many hours of gameplay...

Have to disagree with you there Malt, Metal Gear games have alot of dialog on Codec (admittedly MUCH less in MGS4 which was a shame) and are so complex that as a movie i don't think it would work well. On a side note.... i've always hated Final Fantasy games.... not for me. The only turn based game i've ever liked were Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow (Yellow clearly being the best!)
