Temple Level: Suggestions for a story and attention grabbers

Archive: 7 posts

(Sorry for the recent threads... I haven't been around much... -ahem-
This is the last one today promise~)

I'm making a Temple level and it has a bunch of obstacles with a midway Golem boss.
The odd thing is that I can't really think of a story and I am not sure how else to make my level get somones attention as interesting. I would really appreciate any help and suggestions.

For some reason I can't think of 'temple' without thinking of 'treasure'. The temple could be hiding a mysterious artifact that has been lost in time. Recovering this artifact could make sackboy rich and prove that the legends and rumors surrounding this mysterious object were true. The golem could be a ancient guardian left to guard the artifact from intruders. Well, that's one idea anyway.2010-03-19 23:52:00

The temple is cursed, and the golem is angered that you have entered. After defeating him, he implores SackBoy to some sort of task deeper in the temple.
The temple houses an ancient artifact that SackBoy must retreive for posterity (a la Indian Jones) and Silverpanther's idea.
SackBoy enters the temple to quell the anger of the gods, who have been troubling the natives of a local village. SackBoy pleases the gods and saves the day.
The temple is rumored to contain mountains of treasure, which actually ends up being something entirely non-treasure-ish.

How about Sackboy goes to the temple with the intent of defeatnig the Golem and freeing the village of the evil Golem BUT what he has actually done by defeating the Golem is unleashed the spirits and now the spirits are reacking havoc like never before. This story leaves you the option of making a sequel. And yes I did base this loosely off the Shadow of the Colossus story.2010-03-24 10:58:00

How about the temple holds a anciend secret that you go on to venture for, all the obstacles could be the precautions that were put to keep people out and the Golem could be the gatekeeper to the rest of the temple. From what you've said, you meet him halfway through the temple so after you kill him he drops a ancient key that opens a doorway that leads further into the temple. When after you've encountered even more traps and puzzles and whatnot, you come across the treasure (whatever treasure that strikes your fancy), you get it and accidentally unlease a terrible monster, you must write your wrong by killing the beast and destroying the artifact that released it. Hope that helpe you. Peace!2010-03-24 16:23:00
