Cool, I'll check it out!

If you want to get more feedback for your level, you should try using F4F. Since you've already posted it you can edit the post by using "go advanced" and add F4F: in front of the thread title.

Hi, Xacktar. I tried your level and must say, that you did good platformer level with interesting obstacles. Environments looked good, goof working with stickers, maybe to much corners, but it is only my opinion. I saw many way to try out, but all level walkthrough took about 4-5 minutes for me. So you did good level with many paths to investigate without big difficult for players. it is very good. One comment only - level is good, but what about its story? We have several hints during gameplay, but what sackboy do in this labyrinth and how he got there?

So I gave you 4 star and star of creator for it.

And I liked your "Lair of Dr. Gaxler" and "Cowboy Crusade" levels. You are good creator! I will look for your next levels!

(this may sound like a stupid question) but what does F4F stand for?

Hey Xacktar!

I just finished your level! And I found it uhm, funny. I liked the idea of different rooms and each different colour. Therefore it was a very colourful level, and that looks very fresh. I also liked the smileys at the and, gheghe.
Sometimes I thought that there were several ways, but that wasn't so. When I was playing your level I had a feeling of, "am I a playing Pacman or Littlebigplanet?" Sounds weird, I know. It was just because you first go left, then down, then right, then upwards etc. This feeling was strengthened because there were little yellow balls at the end (Pacman! :o).

Later I discovered they were smiley's. Gheghe

Feedback for Feedback (F4F) is a great system. If you want more feedback for your level (and who doesn't?), just go play some other levels and leave feedback for those. Easy! You can literally get as much feedback as you want this way - it's awesome.2010-03-19 17:57:00

Wow! Thanks for all the replies so far. :-)

This level was more about trying out a few new ideas and remembering how to use the editor as I've been busy with life lately and had forgotten quite a bit. My next level will have a more involved story to it.

Never thought about that but now that you point it out I don't think I'll look at the level the same way.

Oh, Taffey(Tsr13), I recently played your level 'The Interwebs' and loved it! I need to play more of your stuff. :-)

Well, I just played this level, and now I'm going to try to give you actual feedback (usually my feedbacks are short, that's why). Okay, I'll give it a shot.

First off, I'm liking the music. It's showing a bit more of a happy mission than just a walkthrough platformer. So far, nothing too difficult, but there's the green area that has some problems. May I suggest you glue the things down?

Okay, so I restarting again (I got stuck in the green area). So now I'm going to the skyish area. Looks good, though the piston didn't launch me up until the 8th try, but not really serious. So right now I'm in the yellow area, and nothing is really hard (but I don't know why there's two yellow balls there). Still, I'm going down the lemons, and well it's not looking to difficult, so it's not really fun.

Now I'm in the red area. Okay, I take it back, now it's fun! Seeing some hazzards now, so bonus points to you! Oh, and nice work keeping the whole thing in color. It's reminding a lot of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, where you go to the different colored dungeons in the castle near the end.

Okay, so now I'm at the sci-fi looking room. I see the pistons, and so far I'm good for Acing the level... never mind, I died. Okay, so the pistons are hard, which is really good, because it shows the difficulty of said level. Now that I know, I'm going to go to the [spoiler cut-off] piston. Good, now I'm the pink room. So far, it's easy, and I passed it. So ya, now in the egyption room, and it looks cool. Anyways, now I grab the rocket, and I'm in some arrow room.

Now I'm in a really blue spotted room, and... I failed to make a bridge with the cardboard. Oh wait, jetpack! Now I'm... oh, this is bad. The jetpack isn't glued down, so I'm able to fly through the whole level. Is this supposed to happen? If not, then I think you should glue down the jetpack (it's a community pet peeve).

Finally, I'm zooming through the black room, another arrow room with rocket, and the "Look like you nedd to shed some light on the subject." room. So ya, passed the smiley faces and beat the level. WOOT!

So, overall, you need some certain things glued. Other than that, great level! :star::star::star::star: and a ♥ for both level and creator. Good job!

Peace

There is a way through the green room. Things are movable for a reason. :-)

Yeah, the seesaw is a decoy, you are meant to fall down into the pit and fly back up, collecting the points.

Well yes, but when you move them to a certain point, they get you trapped. So in other words, passing it unscaved is about 50%-75% of the time. So I think they should be shrunk or just plain out glued. It's my opinion though, so do as you will.

I know about that now, seeing as the see-saw was too short after my 5th run in the level (I like to really break down levels).

I'm just saying that when you fly above that blueish room, you can skip everything by just flying by, something I think you try to avoid with that black wall in the black room (I got around that with the jetpack though). So I don't know if that was supposed to happen, but I thought I let you know.

Keep up the good work!

Wait... so it doesn't stop you after the electric floor area? Hm. Strange. It is supposed to let you go as far as that and no further. I wonder what happened there.

By the looks of it, you made it thinner as it went down. In other words, that spike look it had might have been the problem.

You see, at the point of the black wall, I rush it while holding "X". Seeing that the wall is thin below, I'm able to pass through with no problem. That's why I think the jetpack should be glued down, or so to speak.

Hoped it helps you figure the problem out.

Ack, you were right. Somehow the jetpack got shoved halfway through the side wall and broke its tether, giving it a chain that dangles but doesn't restrain you. Also looked at the green room and found one of the objects was dynamic when it was meant to be static, might have been the problem there.

EDIT: Republished with fixes. :-)

Hey Xacktar!

I'm finally cleaning up the last of my reviews, and you're one of the last. Sorry! Just luck of the draw I guess.

You've made a fun obstacle course type level here centered around escaping from inside a large ubiquitous box.... And that's all I really need to say! I like unapologetic themes like this, where you're just stuck into a situation with the goal of getting out of it. If you had tried to write a story around it or justified the box as some weird experiment then it would have been lame, but the way you did it is perfect. jackofcourse is a master of this style of level: Hey here you are, now get moving! So anyway, great use of color everywhere. More specifically, great use of ALL the colors because I think you pretty much covered everything. There's some very innovative gameplay elements here, and although some of them are maybe a little rough around the edges they're still quite inventive. The hidden jetpack, the fast-moving piston platforms of electric death, the mini rocket sled, the rotating L-shaped platform... Very cool.

It wasn't until I read the reviews here that it dawned on me that you had organized the "rooms" by color. Well heck I guess you did, didn't you? I wondered why there were lemons being used as grab lifts - it's because they're yellow that's why. This level does feel somewhat random though, and that's just based on the very nature of the concept of this sort of thing. It would be better if the color themes were just slightly more obvious, with say more of the colors being closer to one another and with more clearly defined boundaries between the different rooms. Some additional sound objects throughout would help add that necessary layer of depth to the level as well, and maybe even theme the rooms by sound. You could have an animal room, a mechanical room, and the ever-dreaded burp and fart room! LOL Ok that's a silly idea but it's worth throwing out there.

I don't have loads more to say on top of what CyberSora has already detailed, so I'll just end it there. Excellent and fun little level you have here - I gave it 4 stars. :hero:
