Well I finally did it. After months of playing through all the canned levels, pouring over community levels, and countless hours spent in creation, my first level has been published.

I am Looking forward to hearing other players opinions. As I said above, this is my first published level so any and all comments, feedback, and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Enjoy,
c_mckamey

Luos, Clarie and I really enjoyed this. You've got some nice scenery with some really well put together gameplay elements. You've clearly learned a lot while you've been observing other peoples levels. showing the logic was an interesting idea, but if you're going to do that you should put some mouths explaining that you got them from the lbpc logic pack and explain what they do.

the level looks like a combination of luos and mine temple and cave tutorials - did you see them? If not you clearly have good taste

REALLY looking forward to seeing what you make next because that is an outstanding first level. Well done.

Thanks for playing my level and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Currently I am hard at work on the next installment in the series and hope to publish it this weekend, if I can get it play-tested thoroughly enough.

That is an excellent idea and I'll update the level to include it ASAP. All the logic in the level is done with combinations of the logic-pack parts and they were of infinite help. The level would never have happened without it really. This upcoming level has all custom logic based mostly on winches ala rtm223 and his excellent blogs. This was mainly done as a personal challenge but ended up being required to keep the thermo under control.

I have in-fact seen all of you two guys tutorials. All excellent, and yes the pallet of the level was heavily influenced by that combination in particular. The first contraption that I built and felt was good enough to be included in a level was constructed shortly after I discovered your videos and that contraption became the basis for the story and levels that followed.

Thanks again for playing,

Pushed an update yesterday to include the magic mouths at the logic displays. The first time a player goes into a display section they see the dialogue, doesn't matter which they visit first or in what order.

Thanks and enjoy,

Played this yesterday and I must say it's an excellent first level. Most of the gameplay was all quite standard things you tend to see in LBP, but with an original twist, which is always good to see.

Personally I'm not a fan of the come over here to see the logic thing, but seeing as it's completely skippable then it's certainly not an issue. On a plus note, it was always clear which way was onwards and which was leading to the logic, without you explicitly telling the player. This is soemthing that a lot of experienced creators seem to struggle with, so kudos there.

Minor issues:

The wobble bolt platforms were not too hard in themselves, but they were disproportionately hard when compared with the rest of the level. I'd tone these down to fit in with the rest.

At the end when the "boss" breaks down, it all happened really fast and as I fell the magic mouth opened and then closed again very quickly, so there was no time to read it.

You are not the only one I have heard this from. I went back and played through it, and had all my faithful subjects/family play through and you know what... Everyone died at least once, some tapped out the re-spawn. I fiddled with the pause times and while you can't lolly-gag across, you definitely have more time.

I fixed this as well. Before I was relying on a set of three proximity sensors and when the play did a certain thing, the results you saw would occur. This has been changed to a simple set of proximity/timers that guarantee a consistent finish once the player gets on the bridge, regardless of player location changes during the sequence.

Thanks for the feedback,

Hey everyone! I just wanted to inform you all of a recent video review I did of c_mckamey's level. I'm posting this because he's a new creator that has incredible content already up including some potential to be an overall excellent creator down the road. At the moment, though, he's been short on attention as his levels have been played and hearted very few times. This is a shame, and so check out this review (don't mind the intro with my crazy voice) and play the level!
