LBP won't work :(

Archive: 16 posts

Well, I decided to play LBP, but as soon as I started the game, it all turned black. And it returned to the ps3 menu. Not sure what's wrong but I've tried cleaning the game, same result

Does anyone know what's wrong? I really want to finish my level

Have you backed up your level data? Or published your levels locked online? If so, you can always get 'em back later when you figure out what happened to your game. My friend Aaron had a problem like this too...But I don't know how he fixed it. He hasn't been online for a month...so I cant exactly ask him.

Good luck!

Any messages that pop up from the game? Sometimes profile corruption can cause you to be booted back to the XMB.2010-03-17 22:07:00

Not exactly every level, just one. And I didn't exactly backup my levels ^^'.
Hopefully, your friend can get on so you can ask him. Cause it'd really would be nice to play LBP again.

@holguin

No, no messages at all. Just when the screen turns black, the clock quickly pops up and it returns to the Ps3 screen. Dx!

God, this is really annoying. And I had just sketched a few levels I would've started and not to mention the level I could've been finished with 2010-03-17 22:34:00

Triple posts = not a good idea.

Have you tried borrowing a friends copy of the disc to see if that works? It might just be the disc that's broken.

None of my friends really own LBP

Sorry about the posts, still getting used to LBPC.

And I didn't exactly backup my levels...

Doesn't matter, assuming you backup up your profile - all your levels (and everything else) are stored in that.

When I start LBP, it just goes black and pretty much freezes. I know it isn't the disk, but it's the game itself because it happened on my first copy of LBP, the rental I'm using right now, and even the LBP demo from the PlayStation Store. No other game does it. Can you tell me what's wrong?2010-06-04 04:55:00

Well, from my experience, what you need to do is erase all lbp data (Excluding backups) and then go from there, then just import the data from your backup, if that doesn't work, Reset your ps3 using...

Hope that helps!

What exactly is supposed to happen when I hold the ON button until the three beeps? I did it and it just turned my PS3 back off, and when I turned it on, it just said the thing about detecting HDMI cables, and nothing else.2010-06-04 18:32:00

Ok, I tried doing the full format, but it gets to 30% and stops for a long time, then says there is an error. It's done this twice now. Does anyone have an idea why it is only LBP that does this?2010-06-04 19:35:00

If you're doing a complete hard disk reformat, and it doesn't complete successfully, this would strongly indicate that there's something seriously wrong with the hard disk.

It's possible it only affected LBP if only LBP's data files were stored in the area of the disk which is unreliable.

Sounds as if you need a new hard disk for your PS3.

I have installed YDL on my PS3, although that partition is gone, could that have screwed up my hard drive? And I don't think that it has anything to do with LBP not working, as I have no files for it on my PS3 anymore2010-06-27 21:45:00
