PLEASE can someone help!

I really need some help here guys. I know this should be in the help forum, but I've already posted there and got no help.
I'm having problems with the physics in my game. When things drop from a bit of a height onto the floor (actual level floor or a created floor) they don't just hit the floor they slow down drastically before lowering gently (but the sound effects make the sound of the object hitting). This is causing quite a few issues while playing and creating.
I've deleted my profile, game data and download data from my HD, but when I reinstall everything and start from scratch it still happens. Even from a brand new profile.
My only conclusion is that something has been changed with the game engine, possibly during the last update, and I need someone to confirm if this is happening with anyone else.
I also have problems when rotating objects/materials. They don't stop rotating when I let go of the stick and tend to snap to a position, rather than just stopping where placed.
If this isn't happening with anyone else, I'm not sure what I can do to resolve it other than to stop playing, and I really don't want that to happen.
Please help me.

Wow - I've not heard of that happening to anyone else. The falling problem and rotation sounds like lag in online create but your saying it happens when your alone and offline too?2010-03-17 21:14:00

This is going to sound really weird, but does it happen to you both online and offline?
If it's happening both online and offline, your playstation might have something wrong with it. (like the processor might be going bad or something)

Edit: Caryn, you're a ninja.

Thanks ladylyn.
What can possibly be going on? Surely If I delete everything then it should be resolved.
Guess I'll have to give up gadding!

EDIT: yup, it happens online and offline. I don't think there's anything wrong with my PS3 as all other games are working fine.

Do you have anything wacky happening in play mode as well or is the physics only misbehaving in create?

It really sounds like lag as Morgana mentioned, but if you are offline and it still happens I am a bit stumped. Though I may have some guesses depending on how you answer the above question. I could be wrong, but I like to guess.

The other question I was going to ask is it happening on multiple levels on your moon or just one? Could be something like that 160 hour bug at work if it's just one crater/level.2010-03-17 21:49:00

I was wondering that too, but since they said they "started over" I assume it was a new level, but it is a great question. Though in my own horrible experience with the 160 hour bug, I never noticed falling objects having this type behavior. The 160 hour bug only affected things like pistons being "juddery" or pistons and wobble bolts not moving at all.

@jwwphotos :- It happens in create and play both online and offline.

@Morgana :- It's happening everywhere. I played one of my old levels to test it and at the start all was fine. I then deleted something and the problem returned.

I'm just stumped as to why it should continue to happen after removing all traces of LBP from my PS3 and starting from fresh. Is it perhaps possible that some of the data is retained and the reinstall uses some of this corrupt data?
Perhaps my next port of call would be to contact MM themselves to see if they can help?

Wow... Any level or just a level you have? Story mode levels, other creators community levels?

Yup, everywhere. Online, offline, create, play, story, community...etc.
I've just finished deleting everything and reinstalling it all for the third time, in the vain hope that it'll resolve itself, but it just will not go away.
I've given up now.
It even happens on the intro level after a new install.
I really don't know what to do!

EDIT: It all began after I read how to create the backscratch glitch and attempted to create it myself. Maybe I'm being punished!

EDIT: Actually, thinking about it I moved my PS3 from a Hi-Def TV to an SD TV, but surely this shouldn't be a problem. I'll swap it back and see if that makes a difference.

I would indeed contact Mm about this. I know before the Leerdammer update - which fixed many bugs - many people were suffering from corrupted profiles. Several of these folks reported sending their profile data files to Mm and that they were able to fix them. Don't what the turn around would be on that though.2010-03-17 22:29:00

Thanks vortex but I've just put my PS3 back onto a Hi-Def TV and so far it appears as if the problem has gone away!!!!!!!!
I'm still checking all levels work fine but it appears as if the problem was caused by moving the system from Hi-Def to standard def.

People should be aware of this so I'm going to contact MM to let them know of this bug. It's had me tearing my hair out for days now as I thought this shouldn't have caused such a problem. I know very few people will move between HD and SD TV's but be warned; if you do then odd things may happen.

Many thanks guys for your input.

Life is good again.
