Contraption Challenge, LBP PSP Style! ~WINNERS ANNOUNCED~

I was looking at the contraption contests for ps3, and though "Hmmmmmm". So I thought I'd give it a try.

Since this is just a tester, there are no official rewards (YET) . I will need another two people to be judges. leave me a pm or message here if you are interested in this position.


The first challenge is a basic Off-Road challenge where the competitor must create a method of getting the sackboy across a fire track with some bumps and a couple of steep inclines.

How To Compete
1) Post in this thread to say you are competing
2) Search template name below on Community Moon
3) Copy level to My Moon
4) Design your contraption
5) Rename the template and add your PSN ID on the end. (EG CCPSP01 Pete1991)
6) Upload your level to Community Moon
7) Post on this thread or PM a judge saying that you have uploaded your contraption
8) Cross Fingers

What The Judges Are Looking For
1) Originality (The more creative, the better!)
2) Complexity (A box with big wheels won't score high here, make it interesting!)
3) Practicality (How well the contraption scales the obstacle, if it struggles to cross mounds or ramps then obviously points will be lost)

FINAL POSITIONS
Thanks to everyone who entered, as you all know, the contraptions were judged on three categories (Originality, Complexity and Practicality). These were all graded out of 10, each done by 3 judges, consoling to a maximum possible score of 90/90, and based on that, here are the final postitions.

6th Cybersora, Total score of 45/90 (I will PM you after this, need a little word, no biggie)
5th Vehicle Maker, Total score of 48/90

Congratulations to Napero. Since this was just a test competition there is no official reward, however, if I get around to it, I may make a small signiature for you, depending on if I can fit it into my schedule.

Thank you everyone for playing, once I get some money I will begin CCPSP02 since I feel this has been popular enough to start regularly, with prizes.

It may come as no surprise to some that I would love to participate in a Contraption challenge, but it seems a little weird that you are insisting that people sign up to take part without even knowing what the challenge is.

fine , my first challenge is a simple Off-Road Vehicle challenge, the contestants have to create a vehicle that can move the sackboy across a fire obstacle, not very creative I know but this is just the first test challenge. The second challenge I am working on is called the Trucker Trailer challenge, a trailer is available and the creator must make a vehicle that can hitch up onto the trailer by reversing onto it then drive off to a checkpoint marker, obviously the more creative the better.2010-03-17 01:06:00

Pete, it sounds like you have some interesting ideas. Well I'd be happy and delighted to take part, or serve as a judge if you want me. I think your competition might be more attractive if you announce it straight off, though, by which I mean rather undramatically copying and pasting some of what you've just written into your opening post.

Now, I've got no problem with you running a competition like this, because I never will be bothered to bring the Contraption Challenge to PSP. However, is it alright if I ask that you change the name of the comp? Contraptions are voted on 3 categories, all rated out of 10 for a total score of 90. The categories are Originality, Complexity and Practicality (How well the contraption scales the obstacle). Ooppss... I just remember, that I take part in this contest too... I made several contraptions in first three days and then completely forgot about this with all my job and creation of my new level. And today I remember it again... but today is 07/04... So all I can do is publish one of my first contraptions. So here is it - CCPSP01 by Domik12. It is not very creative, but as it is. Sorry again...

Well you see, the judging process isn't that simple. It's a long and involved process that involves trained rodents, electroshock therapy (for the judges, not the rodents), a Lego robot, and an asiago bagel with lox.

Even though this was unofficial and all that, this made my day!

I like the idea of having judges, since they are guaranteed to play all levels and judge the levels in the same way for everyone. Also, you get these nice scores that tell one how good it did and not just an amount of votes.
Maybe there should be more judges, 5 or so?

hmmm... thanks for second place (I am glad to be there with Famouscustard ), but truly I don't think that my work is so great. As I wrote before, it is just first try to create something for this contraption challenge and then I just forgot about it until last day. But anyway it was cool to take part in this challenge.
