Starting over for the third time! Nooooo!!!

Archive: 5 posts

Anybody out there been having issues wiht their game saves? I've got a very odd thing happening with the physics in the game and was wondering if anyones got any idea if and how I can fix this. I've had problems twice before and had to delete all game data and start over, and I really don't want to do it all over again for a third time.
My problem is that whenever sacky drops from a height and lands on the "ground" (ie the actual level floor or a floor I've placed) he doesn't land on the ground straight away but appears to slow down and drop the last little bit as if falling through treacle, slowing to a stop. This also happens when being shot upwards, he slows before hitting the top. Also when rotating objects they tend to keep rotating when I let go of the stick and will snap into a position, rather than just stopping.
These annoyances are causing me all sorts of headaches, both in create mode and play mode.
I've backed up my profile, deleted all data and started over, but to no avail. I've started a new profile but the problem still persists. My brother tried his profile and the same problem is there. I can't seem to get rid of it.
If I've got to start all over again from scratch I think I'd rather give up alltogether as I really can't be bothered to try and collect everything yet again.
Please help me!
I'm at my wits end with this!

You should really delete the Game Data, not the Save Data… you shouldnt have to redo anything if you delete that.

If the game isn’t running right, then its most probably the game data…
Something happened to a friend of mine where they were really short, they couldn’t go in water because their head would go under and they would drown.

They deleted the game data and was all okay after.

If you back up your profile from the games start menu… then you wont have to redo anything again, you can just import the profile once you update the game again.

Hope that does the trick for ya
Good luck.

Thanks oLMCo, but tried it and it didn't make any difference. I deleted the game data, reinstalled the game and waited 2 and a half hours for updates to download but it still didn't work. The only thing I haven't done is to delete everything and start over but I'm loathed to do this as I've done that twice already.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

EDIT: I don't know what's going on with this but I deleted ALL LBP data from my hard drive and started from scratch and it's STILL HAPPENING !!!!!
Surely if I delete absolutely everything and begin a new profile then this should resolve any problem.
All I can think is that when I delete stuff from my HD and re-install that some of the data is left over and reused. Otherwise I can't see how this can happen.
Can someone please try this on their game to see if it's something to do with the last update.
If I can't resolve this then I won't be able to play it anymore, and I can't live without LBP.
PLEASE HELP ME !!!!

To be honest, I believe the whole sackboy slowing down was part of a patch. It's supposed to be that way. Before, sackboy just slammed into the ground so they changed it so sackboy has a softer landing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.2010-03-19 18:23:00

Sorry , I really should have updated this post. I didn't get any help here so I posted in the "Everything else" section as well.
I've found out what the problem was.
Beleive it or not, the reason for the screwy physics was because I moved my PS3 from my HD TV to my SD TV. That's it. I tried 3 new installs on my machine (deleted all LBP data) and couldn't fix the problem.
As soon as I plugged my PS3 back into my HD TV the problem magically vanished.
I tried again on my SD TV and sure enough, the problem resurfaced.
Back to HD TV - problem gone!

A bit of a major bug and I'm not sure why this happens but I sent an email to MM to bring it to their attention.
So gadders beware, if you're moving your PS3 from HD to SD then it's possible your game will behave strangley. Why? God only knows. This had me near tears for a few days.
So thanks but problem solved.
