So I was just playing around in online create with some friends when one of them started placing a bunch of music boxes. It started lagging like crazy and the thermo filled up, then EVERYTHING in the level turned into an odd yellow shape with an exclamation point in it. (Including our SackBoys and the premade floor/ceiling for the level) I took a picture and then deleted the music boxes afterwards.

you didn't overheat. you broke the limit of the thermometer. the thermometer is meant to stop exactly that happening. I don't know HOW it happens though.

It's the same with the invisible pod glitch. the shine of the crystal earings is so close to metephorically destroying your PS3 that it changes the pod to a floating exclamation mark. I once made a space garage with that glitch.
