Sackboy immobilized!

Archive: 7 posts

[First, apologies if this has already been posted and commented upon, but I couldn't find anything about my problem when searching the Forum...]

My son recently received LBP for his birthday, but we've encountered a major, major problem with the game that has basically caused him to give up on it. After completing the opening segment (Walkabout, is it?), when play resumes Sackboy is immobilized--he literally cannot move! The only solution is to restart the game, which has seriously discouraged my son from playing the game at all, as I'm sure all can understand.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? My son has a first-gen PSP, but I have ensured that the firmware is up-to-date. There are glitches with two other games--"COD: Roads to Victory" and "MOH: Heroes", but other games work fine. Perhaps it's just a problem with the device itself, but any suggestions are most welcome!

TIA.

I know there was an issue with Sackboy getting stuck easily near object corners, though I can't recall if this has been fixed. Have you updated the game with the latest patch?2010-03-14 19:57:00

This is way worse than that, it would seem. If the game is paused, upon resuming Sackboy simply cannot move, even if there's nothing around him!

How do I get the latest patch (apologies!)?

You have to press Triangle on LBP in the main menu of the PSP. You should see an option to Update the game there. This assumes you have an internet connection configured on the PSP though, I'm not sure how to update the game offline.2010-03-14 20:16:00

I'm not sure how to update the game offline.
You can't. You must use the update facility of the PSP, and the PSP's WiFi.

However, if you are in the US, or Asia (possibly) then the update 2.02 can be obtained off the PS store through the PS3. Which is needed to use the DLC, hence why they fail to have put up any other update since those are not needed to use the DLC on the store.

Cheers, I'll try updating and see how it goes...

Thanks for the suggestions. If anyone else has others, I'm all ears!
