http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz63/xiv_mofo/APhoto_1-3.jpgScamper through this dilly of a pickle. Test your might and discover the untold secrets of the Unhindered Ballad of Acceleration!
You wont spend much time standing still or running without a necessary leap of faith in this humdinger of a level. El Guero returns and brings another puzzle-platformer for your potential enjoyment!

Though not F4F, I will most definitely play and provide feedback on anyone who comments on my level. I believe I have play tested the level pretty thoroughly, but might have left some details out. Also, I would love to hear some feedback regarding multiple players playing simultaneously and if the level has any problems with multiple players.

Again let me know if their are any problems, and have fun!

EDIT:
Boss has been edited down. He was way too tedious. The mechanisms to defeat him were more blind luck rather than good gameplay and was too frustrating to be fun.

Really fun level!

+ Great secrets!
+ Love the side scrolling parts a lot - very challenging
+ Nice mechanic with the carts but a bit tricky to bounce them up sometimes
+ Great lighting near the boss area.

Felt very fun to play, I think partially because your generous with your infinite checpoints! lol. Very cool level though. The scoreboard area is a little plain but that's really a nitpick on my part. 5 stars & I'll heart it

EDIT: couple of places you can break out of the level - first cart drop on the left side you can fall to the floor of the level. Last checkpoint before the "boss" area you can jump forward one plane and hit the floor of the level.

Also - not sure how but with a group of four the gas wall came up before we could get into the boss area so the level was broken for us. No way to get past the red gas. Take a look at it - it may be a multiplayer sensor issue but it does cause players to restart.

Hiya, we just played through the level in two player, and really enjoyed it. Just one thing we wanted to mention - when you are jumping into the first minecart, if you miss the card you fall through to the bottom of the level.2010-03-14 15:27:00

Fixed the above issues. Forgot to put some gas in some places...the last part is supposed to emit a floor to prevent falls but it must have not emitted...I put an extra layer of gas to prevent the player from escaping.

Also the part with the red gas has been fixed and changed to a require all.

Thanks for the feedback!

And for anyone else, please let me know if the speed of the carts is too fast or if some of the jumps are too hard to pull off for multiple players. For the most part I found that if all the players are not cooperating...someone is going to DIE...which is funny.

Also, the lighting is dynamic and changes constantly throughout the level on its own from day to night, night to day.

The only problem I had with the level was the little boss fight at the end. It was a bit confusing what I had to do. Have you considered hiding the button until it can be used? maybe make it pop up where there used to be a hole, since the bombs no longer need to go in there?

The rest was pretty cool. I'm always up for mine cart action!

Yeah, I think I ended up leaving the button there just because of the testing/tweaking process and never went back to hide the button. The original boss was going to be three phases with the button rotating/rising up to be used in the middle of each phase...but the boss would have just been way too tedious. I actually was not satisfied with the boss in that the button location made the last phase just an "execution" rather than a challenge. I will make some adjustments later and report back. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks!

Played through it with my brother, then went on to play a bunch of your other levels, fun stuff! I agree that the boss was a bit frustrating though2010-03-15 01:36:00

I'll get on editing the boss either tonight or tomorrow morning. I'll either make it more clear what to do or add some things to assist the player along. Probably add the same arrows that appear earlier in the level and some grab material to make getting up on the boss easier.

Thanks!

I had tremendous fun playing your level the other day. The gameplay is great ? it's a whirlwind, helter-skelter dash through the level trying to get the combos and avoid the pitfalls. I liked the two cart sections too, they were original and challenging without being frustrating. In fact the level had a few interesting and ingenious gameplay ideas. The visuals were good too. All in all, an excellent and fun level.

Reading this thread, though, I see I have at least 2 reasons to go back and have another go. I hadn?t realised there were secrets hidden in the level (too much dashing through by me! :blush and I see you have adjusted the boss. The first time I played he wiped the floor with me but on my second attempt I got the hang of it and did better. I?ll be interested to see what you changed.

5 stars and hearted.

I played this the other day but couldn't get past the boss. I see you're updating it now, so I'll give it another shot later. 2010-03-17 04:17:00

Whee!! Played this last night and had a blast! The whole "jumping off the minecarts" thing was fantastic and challenging. I really enjoy your use of physics, keeps things fresh! Nice "Canyons" style and I love how you had the time of day changing in the level...even if I wasn't moving, the time of day was still changing with the music following along. Good stuff! I love little details like that.

Found all the Sun Stones on my first play, too! Some were really well hidden. Great work!

I always love a level with some good game play, and this one totally had it.

I am glad that you enjoyed the game play. As great as many levels that people create in LBP look, many creators fail to remember that this is a PLATFORMING game. I try to make sure that the player is always doing something and never just running on flat ground. This is a rule that I have gotten better at following as I have progressed in my level building experience.

I really love levels that have mine carts too.

I love mine carts as well as I have currently published three different levels with mine carts. This is definitely the first one where I was able to use them in the nature that I originally have always wanted to use them. The mine cart levels in the Donkey Kong Country games were some of my favorite game experiences of all time. I am still looking to create an even grander mine cart level...maybe after God of War III.

Also I will be playing a lot of levels and providing comments in the next few days. Finally going to get some time off and am pretty satisfied with how this level currently stands.
