Save Jezebel!

Save Jezebel!SarBashar
Jezebel entered the ruins to find the troll but she has not returned! Venture into the ruins to save her from the troll, who has his own diabolical plans...
This is my first level and I'd like to get some feedback.
It was a great learning experience, and I think it turned out alright for my first attempt.
Let me know what you think

I should add, this works best with 1 player, but it will work with others.

I added some screenshots: literally, shots of my screen that I took with my camera!

Hi flut, I just finished your level as I type this.

I thought overall you have a good level. I really enjoyed the gameplay elements for the most part, I thought the end boss fight was something new and I haven't seen it done that way before. I thought you had some clever puzzles and challenges. I especially like the puzzle with the swing where you had to swing to get on the platforms while they were down.

Visually I thought the presentation was ok. I think that the first thing you could do to improve it would be to make all your bolts/pistons/switches/etc. invisible. They really don't work with the theme. I think this was the weakest part of your level.

Overall it was a fun experience, it had a good length, and it was difficult but not enough to make me give up. I think if you have really good gameplay ideas but could really work on your visuals. The story wasn't too strong but that doesn't bother me as this was not suppose to be a story heavy level. I think that your ideas are really good and with some polish you will have some great levels!

If you could take a chance and give me some feedback on my level: Joe Snow's Mountain (link is in the sig) that would be great!

I played your level yesterday and enjoyed it. For me it was also the interesting title that got my attention.

The gameplay elements are fun, with good obstacles and nice puzzles. I would add an unlimited checkpoint before the rotating cilnders above the electrified floor. This part is rather difficult, and it's frustrating to have to restart from te beginning.

Good use of materials. Perhaps you could add some decorations here and there?

I liked the interaction with the characters, chasing the troll, and grabbing Jezebel to bypass the puzzle.

Thanks for the reviews! We have exams this week, but I'll go back in and try to apply some of the changes you've recommended this weekend.

I have an embarassing question: Where do I find the infinite checkpoint? I've got booty master and I've never seen it

You can download the infinite checkpoint for free with the Creator Pack 1 from Media Molecule.
The pack also gives you the handy tetherless jetpack.

Good luck on your exams.

And the creator pack is free! So don't feel like you have to worry about spending money!2010-03-16 03:40:00

Alright, I added some screenshots to the original post, and I've done some things to clean up the level a bit: I've hidden pistons and bolts and the like, I've added infinite life checkpoints, and I've made small geometical adjustments that should improve some areas visually. Any feedback is good feedback, and I'd especially appreciate advice on expanding the geometry I have to make it perhaps more visually appealing. Thank you!2010-03-20 03:40:00

I've just played through your level and I thought that was pretty good.

The platforming and puzzles were simple yet fun and they fitted in with the theme of the level very well.

I liked how you had to use Jezebel to solve one of the puzzles and having the troll disappear when you got close was a good idea.
I also like the idea of having to turn on the sprinkler to progress through the fire.
The Boss fight wasn't too difficult but it was different to most that I have seen.

The only negative really is that you've used objects that you've collected from the story mode such as the dog sled.
Maybe you could have a go at making your own.

Overall its a fun level to play and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next.

Thanks for the feedback on my level.

K, I just got done playing this and I thought it was decent. The platforming had a nice flow to it and was satisfying and the puzzles were pretty creative. This level would have achieved greatness if you would have put more time towards the visuals. They're rather mediocre, and even though there's some pretty cool stuff going on here, it's pulled down a bit by it's lack of detailed visuals. However, since this is your first level, I understand. If you put a little more time towards visuals next time, you could have a really good level on your hands! (Use the corner editing tool! )
I gave it 3 stars and a Platformer tag. Good luck with future projects!

And if you get the time, could you play my WaffleWorld level?
