Movie Kit Idea

Archive: 13 posts

This idea may or may have not been used before but i still think that it is a good idea. Would you want a kit that came with a TV screen. In a level you would first put it down, adjust the camera, decided the delay time so that you can get yourself in place or be prepared and then activate it and you can film yourself or a set with a bunch of characters on it. Remember those tutorial screens? these would be just like those. You could adjust the lighting on it, flicker, choice of music so on and so forth. Then you could save these little clips of you or your scene and play them on the TV screen. This could lead to security cameras that show a room, a flicker TV with a cryptic message, just a normal TV with cartoons on, a screen with someones face on it watching you or even just a movie theater. This would also lead to trailers for levels. This could come in a pack with movie theater materials, popcorn, new music, maybe a new costume or 2 and premade movie scenes. What do you think?2010-03-11 22:47:00

Interesting new spin on the video screen suggestion, I like it.
But i don't like popcorn, too salty, not really a big salt fan.

I wonder someone has done a potatoes costume for LBP lolz (sorry off topic)

Anyway, it would be cool if they would actually make a lvl pack? i mean there were like 4 levels in LBP that were inspired on Hollywood (movie making).

It's a cool idea don't get me wrong, but you also have to look at some of these ideas in a practical way too- using lot's of prizes, custom stickers, all those kind of things adds extra data onto a level...you really want to wait even longer for a level to load? Specially if the video isn't compressed all that well? High quality video doesn't come space cheap...
Sorry if this sounds like I'm shooting the idea down- I'm not, but sometimes it's too easy to forget that everything in the game is online, and that stuff has to get online some how, and also from the net to your PS3...=/

I am up for some new materials, stickers and decor though- and yes some new (INTERACTIVE) music would be nice too!

This idea would be pretty cool, i was experimenting in create mode on how to get moving images into the levels and i did come up with one soloution that is this.

Have you ever heard of stop moion, basically you take loads of pictures of draw lots of pictures and run them with like a 0.1second delay straight after the other, this is making moving pictures. If you don't know much about movie making, this is the same technique movie makers use, the cameras take loads of pictures then play them back super fast, emplying moving images. Thats why with better cameras which are faster you get better quality and it also depends on the quality of the pictures.

If you play a lot of games you may be familiar with FPS and i don't mean first person shooter, i mean Frames Per Second, Frames are another word for pictures, the higher the FPS the higher the quality and smoothness of the game, the more pictures it moves more slowly.

Moving back onto LBP you take 10-20 pictures of you moving around place them on individual cardboard blocks, you have 10-20 emmiters each with the different picture blocks, you make em shoot out the images to the side on glass tracks at a linear velocity of say 10 ou make it shoot out each picture after the other, this looks like a stop motion with moving pictures.

Have you ever seen those wheels, where the have small slits in the side with pictures of horses inside in different posses when you spin the wheel and look through it looks like the horse is running, this is exactley the same technique except not 3d.

I hope this helped you.

Very nice idea, it could lead to many new level parts and new things to play with in Create Mode. Although, just like the others said, it could also lead to longer load time, lag, and more level temperature. Perhaps someday MM will find a way to sort this out. Like the ideas of LBP pets and mine, 4 more slots to a pod, it is very exciting yet can sound impossible when you start to think about it. Anyway, nice idea. 2010-03-15 12:29:00

I'd like to add to your suggestion.
CUTSCENE SWITCH
tweak to change your video and attach a switch to it... then it displays your video on te entire screen! change it to inverted and when it isn't activated it displays the video!
