Would you like to become a Superstar of LBP and win a cool, rare sticker?

Become a Superstar! of LBP

If so, then you are in luck.

For this competition we are looking for you to create a level to show what adventure Sackboy got up to after completing his parade in 'The Carnival'. Since Sackboy enjoyed his travels so much, he decided to revisit his previous adventurous locations, but where did he revisit, and what new adventure did he get up to?

Whatever he done is entirely for you to decide.
Did he go back to 'Tinsel Town' to become an even bigger movie star? Or did he move back 'Down Under' to Australia to play with the kangaroos? Maybe hitting up the slopes again in 'Alpine Run'?

To keep this going with some sort of theme to stick with, but to also try not to narrow down creativity much, levels are to be based around any of the story mode themes.
That's, Down Under, The Orient, The Bazaar, Golden Sands, Alpine Run, Tinsel Town and The Carnival.

So, what are you waiting for, get creating and have fun.
For more information, including the rules of said competition please follow this link:

But this is just a user-done contest, just with an official prize.

Or am I mistaken your definition of the term "user-done"?

Oh wow. I didn't realize you came up with this contest mnimmo. It looked like an official contest hosted by Cambridge. Thanks for your hard work in putting this together!

Hmm, interesting...

So how is it you're able to offer the ribbon as a reward? Have you entered into a very unprofessional relationship with somebody at Cambridge?

I knew this wasn't Cambridge's competition! Because:

(a) Cambridge is too busy to have fun with us right now.
(b) You forgot to capitalize in the third sentence, something a company wouldn't do (I know, I'm doing a Taffey here).

So ya, I'm in! And... how did you get that sticker? Only 105 were downloaded. Were you one of those "Chosen Ones"?

I just finished working on a level....

I don't know if I should enter....

Well... If I do enter, I wouldn't know what type of level to make since I don't like any of the themes much...

Although, I will enjoy checking out the levels!

By the way, just a guess, most levels will be probably Tinsel Town Theme. Although only 2-3 will be good! XD

Wow! I though it was an official contest! I'm still not a 100% sure if I'll enter because I think I've side tracked enough from my current project. (Contests, Imagithon, etc.)2010-03-12 08:25:00

Been speaking with AceCreator, so rewards will be coming from him.

What sentence? The "and what adventure..."? I know technically it should be, but it's a continuation of the previous sentence, it's not meant to be a new one.

As for the sticker, the best image you can get is just by taking an image of the PSP screen of a level with this in. That better image used in the post was supplied by AceCreator.

And no. I didn't get a copy of that sticker while it were on offer on the store.

I know, but I think it's supposed to have " " around the sentences/questions.

I'm not sure about this. Where's Taffey?

Now that the dust has settled from my Week of überBusyness, I can finally get around to stopping by this thread.

Thanks mnimmo1986 for setting up and posting this contest - it's a great idea! The concept of extending the existing story mode levels is fantastic and will really help give creators a direction. I'm looking forward to playing the entries!

I still haven't decided if I'm going to enter or not, but I'll give it my best shot. My primary bottleneck is time, and until I get my flux capacitor working properly I just don't have enough of it. I may forgo sleep though, because I'm loving this contest.

I'm not sure about this. Where's Taffey?Oh, ok FINE. I was going to leave this alone but I'll step in to referee.

Since Sackboy enjoyed his travels so much, he decided to revisit his previous adventurous locations, but where did he revisit?, and what new adventure did he get up to?Should "and" be capitalized or not? The correct answer is..... C) None of the above. There shouldn't be a question mark after "revisit", but that's a stylistic technicality. This being a message board I don't see anything wrong with it, but don't expect an English professor to be so forgiving.

You forgot to capitalize in the third sentence, something a company wouldn't doYou apparently aren't familiar with some of the companies I've seen. (Fortunately, though, neither Cambridge nor Mm seem to be "those" companies.)

There, is that better?

In pre-20th century English, question marks and exclamation marks were not always used in such a way that they ended sentences as they commonly do today, yet nobody sat down and 'changed the rules'. Grammar is descriptive, not prescriptive 2010-03-13 13:14:00

Sounds fine to me.

Like I say, as long as it's based on one of the story modes themes, your good to go.

Whatever you put in the level on from there is entirely up to you.

Well yes, unless you remove "and" from the beginning of the new question, making it proper (I believe).

Grammar! FTW!

(That was fun while it lasted. )

Now, on with the said contest.

He's got his own account on the LBW Forums: AceCreator Profile (http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/lbp/profile?user.id=24610)

As for the sticker. Do you mean the image used in the post? He just sent me it when I asked for it since I were adding it to the post to show off the prize.

If you mean the eventual prizes, I don't have them, since they will be codes that are to be redeemed on the PlayStation store. Those codes will be coming from Ace himself, not through me. But of course I would be supplying him with the details of the winners.

http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/t5/PSP-General-Discussion/Superstar-Gold-Rare-Sticker/td-p/236909
Hi fellow Creators,

Some of you may have seen the 'Superstar! Gold Rare Sticker' appear briefly on the PSN Store. Here's the lowdown on this particular item:

It was put on the European Store by mistake. Precisely 105 were downloaded.
Even though its rarity has been compromised, we will be giving this sticker as a prize in community held competitions over the next few months.
However, we have five new Gold Rare Sticker awards for more specific achievements (such as artistic and technical ability) making an appearance in a couple of months' time, at which point we will stop giving out the 'Superstar! Gold Rare Sticker' and proceed with the new truly exclusive stickers instead.

We hope that clears everything up.

Keep your eyes peeled for ways to win the ?Superstar! Gold Rare Sticker? over the coming weeks,

AceCreator.

So by all means, I'm sure there'll be more to come, and maybe just the one you want

I will be making my official post over at LBW on Monday evening (well.... Monday for me in China, that would probably be Sunday Night or Monday morning for you), so remember that that is coming when you tally up the people entering the competition if I have not made my post yet :-)

Thanks again for the awesome competition Mnimmo!

I have decided to extend the deadline of this contest by a few days.
The new deadline is Monday, April 5th at 9pm.

So, for people who have still yet to submit a level, you have that bit longer to get ideas together and get them in your level. Heck, even start a new level for entry into this contest.

As for people who have already submitted a level, it's a great time to double check and see if you are happy with your level. Polish it up, tweak bits here and there. Anything that you may think that will help it shine that little bit more.

There will be others, but as for when and how many... that's anyone's guess.

Ace has said that there will be further contests for this sticker for a few months (he hopes), and after that, theses stickers will not be available because there are other limited stickers that will be on offer after that.

Fastbro, your level is awesome!! I really enjoyed playing it. It had such a perfect look to it. Everything just looked outstanding. The story was very interesting and had me engaged from the very beginning. I like how all of your characters feel real, and when the Yeti threatened to fill my bath with custard I died laughing. I played this a couple times and got the high score, you can get some great bublle chains going if you think about where you should hit them.

Nothing bad here, a very good level!!

I am really beginning to dig your style now.

Five stars and a heart, I think I have hearted all of your levels now, I know I hearted you as creator a while back.

Hmm. I am a bit disappointed, as I believed the contest would be about imitating the look of the levels, not necessarily creating great levels. Of the winners, only Poo's would seem to truly fit the theme. Regardless, congrats to the winners.

Oh, and make sure you have good security on your computers, I know a few people in low places who tell me they plan on hacking the winners... these things gotta be leaked you know, for the good of the community. While I am not directly involved, I can tell you that they won't be out to cause harm in most cases, just to steal the sticker from back-ups. However, the group in question has confirmed to me no one's computer will get hacked if the sticker is leaked by week's end, and full protection and anonymity to the leaker. Again, I am not directly involved, just looking to warn and inform people.

Congrats!

Why not just get the latest update and hack it from that since the data for the sticker is already there?

Hmm. I am a bit disappointed, as I believed the contest would be about imitating the look of the levels, not necessarily creating great levels. Of the winners, only Poo's would seem to truly fit the theme. Regardless, congrats to the winners.
It was stated that the level just had to be "themed" around a story mode theme. Not necessarily duplicate everything from a said theme.

Congrats!

That is totally insane. Seriously, who would do that for the sake of a purple ribbon? That's not to say I don't envy the winners for the cool prize, but I can't see the point of desiring to obtain it illegitimately - sort of loses all meaning.

But yes, congratulations to the winners. I have played some of the levels and I'm sure they were all well deserved.

Tell me about it. I'm a big fan of leaking these things though, so while I don't support their methods I hope they succeed in a peaceful release. Man, if I ever win one of these things, it's going all over the interwebs five seconds after I obtain it. 2010-04-13 14:37:00

I could rant about why I disagree with you but to be honest I can't be bothered. (and don't want to start an argument.)
