stumped by an emitter

Archive: 4 posts

I'm trying to emit 1 contact explosive(or whatever they called) and have it stay in play until it explodes then another emit, etc.

I have the emitter set to .5 frequency, infinite lifetime, infinite amount, 1 at a time.

It seems to me though settings should do what i want, yet it keeps emitting a new one every second or so with the other fading out, I tried setting the frequency to higher, that doesn't help, tried changing the lifetime from infinite to 999 secs, no difference.

No, the emitter will continue to emit every time the frequency comes around, it will not wait for the previous one to be destroyed.

If you place a magnetic key (use a colour you don't use much) onto the bomb and place an inverted, one-shot, magnetic switch with large radius next to the emitter and conenct it to the emitter.

When the bomb explodes the key will vanish, triggering the magnetic switch which will emit a new one.

The way Mm does it in the canyons is by having a stop block just outside your emitter so the bomb remains stationary once emitted (or at least close enough to the emitted location to prevent the emitter from activating. You would then set your max number emitted to 2. The first bomb is emitted, you pick it up to move, and the second one will be emitted without dissolving the first one. If this method works for you then you don't need to worry about the key switch method.2010-03-11 20:32:00

Why not usse Mm's explosives emitter from the Canyons and take a look at the settings of its emitter? Remember, the emitter will refuse to emit if there is an object in the way, regardless of its frequency setting.2010-03-12 16:28:00
