Has people forgotten what lbp is all about?

Archive: 19 posts

I am getting sick of being accused of stealing . I got a item from some ones level to use in my own level which is why they made it a prize IN THE FIRST PLACE! and when I post my level up with that said object I get some one on here accusing me of stealing! -_- wtf?

Or if I use ideas that my friends used and gave them credit again I get accused. or I use my own Idea that some one else thought of first and I did not know they did. I get accused.

with so many jerks on here I'm about to quit lbp -_-

last I checked that game says play, create, SHARE!!!!! where is the sharing?

I know what you mean. but realy its stupid as almost every level has copied from existing movies, games and so on so really every level on lbp is coping off some one else .2010-03-10 22:50:00

I don't have a problem with people using other people's stuff in levels as long as credit is given, which it sounds like you do so I'd say your fine. Some "pureists" may think everything you do must be original but there's a difference between stealing and using a resource that someone has provided. If you make something you don't want re-used - don't share it and if a creator gives credit for someone else's work when using it - leave them be. That's my opinion.2010-03-10 22:55:00

thats what I been doing ^^ I used the walking robot in giga cannon I got from furius and I made it a prize as well so any one who got the prize knows he made it and I just edited it. :-P but really I wish there was more room on the level description

"Has people forgotten...." HAS ?!?!
I know I'm being a bit overparticular but surely you mean HAVE.
Present singular first person.

Present singular first person.

Wouldn't "people" be third person plural?

I currently have a lot of stuff available for people to copy and use, but tbh, I'd be a little bit disappointed to just see someone drop it into their level, credit or no. Not to the point that I'd get all angry and want them to take it down or anything, but my levels aren't copyable so that other people can publish them, that's not "why I give things away in the first place", but it is a possibility and something I expect to happen, so meh. I'm jsut saying, your assumption that people only share them because they want to see them reproduced elsewhere is a little wide of the mark in many cases.

But yeah, people are jerks, so what? If the original creator comes to have words with you about it then I'd pay attention, not that they have any particular right to stop you using it or anything, but just out of respect. Other than that, ignore these people. Who are they to you?

OK - First off... why is this in the Help! forum?

Secondly, what others have already said here is so true. I have been accused of many things in my lifetime that I knew I was not. In some cases, that's not so easy to just blow off - if, for instance, your accuser is very vocal and people are listening and/or believing. But in most cases... I know who I am, what I have done, and whether or not it was right. So another person's ignorance is not my problem.

These days, this is what lbp is all about: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=22226-Stealing-Hacking&highlight=stealing+hacking

Maybe copying the concept of one of the most original levels in lbp means nothing to you, but rosesycthe was obviously unhappy and not having enough text space in the level description is no excuse.

Also, ironic that you're considering leaving. It's stealers like you who usually make people want to leave.

-----

Clarification to anyone reading:

He has a history of stealing and blatantly copying. His mini-mechs (which was one of the main reasons morgana was kind enough to spotlight his giga cannon level) were completely ripped from furio86 (and the prove is in the contributors section). He gave them away as prizes too. Delerium, just because they're prizes doesn't mean you should empty them in your level and have the nerve to give them away.

His newest level, the cursed, is one of the biggest blatant rip-offs I've ever seen, of Dead Memories by RoseScythe. Play the level yourself if you don't believe me. RoseScythe himself was unhappy.

----

I'm not saying you should be burned on a cross, but is it so hard to give credit?

-_- just stop. rosescythe sent me a message yester day saying I inspired him with that level so i don't think hes upset.

well fine here I wont use any items from any one from now on. I wont use the same ideas that about a million of others have done before since video games was first made made. I will not give out any of my own creations and will not tell any one how to do some of my ideas. I will just shut every one out.

Wow two levels he used a item from some one else and used some ones ideas. Big deal don't you got any thing better to do then pick on some one for using some one elases ideas or items? WHO cares and Rosesychthe seem to liked his level.

Sorry if I came on as rude, I don't want to discourage you or make you unhappy either

I just ask that you give credit in the level description when you use important objects like the mini-mechs or concepts like the key/door puzzles.

I believe Delirium mentioned giving credit a few times (contributers sections, etc) ... and like he said, there really isn't enough room in the level description to credit people and still describe ones level. A large portion of the level is still his, there is no reason to attack him for using a few ideas from other creators.2010-03-11 01:07:00

furio86

And thank you
your welcome. well I been worrying to much about what others want. those levels made me feel empty so next level is going to be pure fully my own...though may be disturbing as I intend to make a really gorry detailed level just for fun.

I agree that we need much more room for text both in the level description and the title. I've had to leave stuff out loads of times that I wanted to put in.

Although if it's just giving credit that I haven't got room for then I put some magic mouths in the level giving credit instead. It's very rare I use anything made by anyone else though. As you must know I like to make all my own stuff. About the only things I'm using in my new level are assorted switches from the Logic Pack because I'm hopeless at logic so when that's finished I will credit Logic Pack somewhere along the line.
