Yeah seems to be motion stuff. Hope theres other games announced not just motion! -It's called playstation move or something like that. looks pretty much the same as the controller shown before. | 2010-03-11 00:04:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
its called PS move http://i40.tinypic.com/w8su8p.jpg | 2010-03-11 00:14:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |
Meh, I already have a wii, and the PS controller for this looks absolutely ridiculous. Move on to LBP already, Sony! | 2010-03-11 00:16:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
Aaaah LBP was in the PS move trailer for like 1 second! LBP DEMO! | 2010-03-11 00:21:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
You know... after actually playing with the disco stick first hand at Sony Liverpool, I'm kinda unimpressed they're essentially going for the whole Wii HD feel... Move Party and all, lol. And hot **** is it expensive out the gate. Good luck getting that new audience! | 2010-03-11 00:31:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Meh, motion controller looks like marketing hype more than a practical device that I'm actually going to want to use (I'm sure Sony will see fit to give me no choice soon enough though ) and LBP looks just as pointless as it did in the early shots. | 2010-03-11 00:32:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Wait, what's going on with LBP? Can someone elaborate? | 2010-03-11 00:34:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
The disco stick works great with Hustle Kings. :3 EDIT: Fireflies?!?!?!?! Ugh... I'm out... | 2010-03-11 00:34:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Wait, what's going on with LBP? Can someone elaborate? Imagine player 2 has a popit cursor to move certain things around, but doesn't have a sackboy. Then imagine paying $100 because you have to use the PSMove for it. Sounds good huh? | 2010-03-11 00:35:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
And I'll bet those parts will take a huge chunk of thermometer, so even if there was a situation where using the Move could be use to save thermo instead of swtiches and stuff, even that would'nt be worth it, and no one is going to be able to beat the level without one. | 2010-03-11 00:38:00 Author: JKthree Posts: 1125 |
booo that was a bit disappointing. nothing we haven't already seen there. | 2010-03-11 00:39:00 Author: jackofcourse Posts: 1494 |
The shooter demo actually looked promising. Maybe consoles will finally have an interface for the FPS genre that isn't pathetic | 2010-03-11 00:40:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Is that it for LBP? This is ridiculous. | 2010-03-11 00:44:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
hope i can play LBP on my own with the sub controller if not then they not much point to make levels with it | 2010-03-11 00:46:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |
Overall that was dissapointing. No real gaming news >.> Not even a single trailer for a non PS move game! | 2010-03-11 01:04:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
Hey, if they're adding a gameplay device this major, maybe they're creating a largish DLC pack to go with? Like water and the paintinator? | 2010-03-11 01:11:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
From the demo that sounds about right. I wish they'd work on something that doesn't cost the price of a new controller and PS Eye :/ I saw suggestions of a grapple hook... that would rock! | 2010-03-11 01:22:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
i dunno... i think it will be hard to make waving that silly wand around as engaging as actually playing as sackboy. there's something very charming about seeing your very own sack person represented on screen and i think that's really lost when you basically just become a benevolent (or vengeful) god figure. I have a game on my wii that actually uses the same idea. Nyx Quest. It's really clever and beautiful, but I think it's so much more engaging because you can do the running and jumping AND waggling at the same time. it's really cool. | 2010-03-11 01:29:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
You know this is just going to gather dust like the PlayStation Eye. Third party companies always steer away from motion controll games and camera enabling ones too. It's cheaper to go to the original controller way. First parties pretty much listen to the guy in charge, meaning that they'll most likely use it. Of course, they have reputations on the lines, so they'll aslo steer away from such options as well. So ya, Sony isn't giving anything useful. Honestly, they're just mocking the Wii. It's a gimick they're using to gain motion controll loving Wii players. Once that happens, Sony will unleash their exclusive line ups to the Wii users, which will convert them to Sony die hards. So it's not an enhancement, it's a schtick that Sony is using to backfire Wii's motion controller and gain Nintendo fans. So don't expect the PS Move to last long. Peace | 2010-03-11 01:33:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
As ridiculous as the Move looks now, just remember it has the advantage over all other consoles. It's much more accurate than the Wii and you won't look like a complete idiot waving your arms around in front of your tv like Natal. This is huge for Sony and it makes perfect sense that they want to show it off over some of their other stuff. Also, I can guarentee we will see a huge lineup of good titles that support the Move at E3 this summer. | 2010-03-11 03:04:00 Author: Sack-Jake Posts: 1153 |
Want me to prove you wrong? Look, the same was said for the PlayStation Eye, because The Eye of Judgement was being released with it. Now look where it is. I know this is a sure fire fail, and Sony knows it too. They're only gaining the Wii fans over with this "more accurate" motion controller. Once they've done that, they'll drop it. So, want to prove me wrong? | 2010-03-11 03:12:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
I've had no problems with the accuracy of the wii remote, this just looks like the same thing with a dumber-looking controller | 2010-03-11 03:20:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
I think it's way too early for me to judge the Playstation Move. Based on what I have seen I'm not impressed at all, the controller looks pretty good, but the games...idk. I don't really know how much it'll cost, I already have the PS Eye so idk how they will bundle it but I won't pay more than $50 for it. That gladiator game looks horrible btw, really a step back in gaming. Ultimately what will be the deciding factor is what games the Move will have and if they are interesting to me. | 2010-03-11 04:44:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
Nothing that screams must buy so far. Having some games use 2 Moves and some use a Move and a sub controller looks like a bit of a rip off. I already have the PS Eye so idk how they will bundle it but I won't pay more than $50 for it. # A standalone PlayStation Move # PlayStation Move Starter Kit, including a PSEye, PlayStation Move and a demo disk # PS3 Slim bundle, including PS3, DualShock3 and the Starter Kit # Specific game bundles with game + PlayStation Move # Optional PlayStation Move Sub Controller | 2010-03-11 10:12:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
So, want to prove me wrong? Ummmm, no one needs to. You Haven't proved yourself right yet, you've just voiced an opinion and demanded that everyone takes it as fact lol. I'm as sceptical as anyone over this, but it's definitely a far better route than natal. The problem with these high fidelity input devices is, and always will be, the mismatch between the fidelity of input and output. That game where you have the shield and the weapon: no feedback. Or at least no feedback that is comparable to the input. It does NOT become an extension of your body, and the high accurace will NOT allow for high levels of immersion. Where they want to do 1-1 mapping of human movement on to screen, is where I'm really not interested. And between that, and gimmicky hair-cutting wii-esque malarky is I've seen them push until last night. That socom demo has me interested and curious and believing that some devs actually understand HCI issues. The socom interface does not suffer from the mismatch between input and output fidelity, because the input is abstracted. Rather than do a "lets just match the moments of a person IRL to the movements of an avatar on screeen", they have used a little thought and addressed a major issue with console gaming - standard control pads are pathetic for controlling shooters. Since owning my PS3 it's really annoyed me that FPSs do not support keyboard and mouse (generally, maybe there's a couple of exceptions, but mostly no) so you have to put up with the clunkiness and slowness of the dualshock. Now, as far as I can tell there are two main reasons why devs don't support keyboard and mouse gaming: Console Gamers simply don't want to use a keyboard and mouse (for various reasons). The console gamers who don't, know that they would get destroyed if playing against k&m players online But now there is a third option and you can bet any money sony will push it hard to begin with. So it will appear in some big name FPSs, but of course they know not everyone is going to buy it straight away, so they'll add support for both the PSMove and the dualshock, so everyone can play. Which is great. Until you go online with your dualshock and find there are people with faster, more acruate aiming than you. Sure the PSMove players are going to have a learning curve on their hands, but once they get past the initial teething problems, the added accuracy of the device should allow them to dominate online play. And you can bet that as soon as it becomes apparent that he PSMove gives and edge in online play, some of the dualshock owners will start saving up their pennies.... And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how Sony can force this product into the hands of more than just the casual gamers. You will need it if you want to compete online and online play is where it's at these days. Obviously, this assumes various things - that an abstracted fps interface can be made that will work well (quite possible), that sony push this hard enough in the high-profile serious gamers' games (as they say they will), and that they add multiple controller support (I think they mentioned that, and they would be stupid not to) - but I'm now interested in the future of this device now, and I was the biggest sceptic around until last night | 2010-03-11 10:43:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Oh yeah, Sony will most likely be focusing all their game funding to move-related games from now on. Hope you liked Wii Sports. | 2010-03-11 20:21:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
I was shocked at the "move" pictures. Identical to wiimote and nunchuck, minus the wires and plus a ping pong ball. I really hope this doesn't mean were gonna get shedloads of crappy wii ports with better graphics. I expected Sony to come up with some new innovation for motion controll and not just do "their version" of the wii. Yeah I know it's far more accurate and responsive, but it's already been done. What a massive disappointment!! | 2010-03-11 22:21:00 Author: Frogmeister Posts: 236 |
Ummmm, no one needs to. You Haven't proved yourself right yet, you've just voiced an opinion and demanded that everyone takes it as fact lol. I'm not demanding that everybody should take it as a fact. I'm just denying the hype over this gimmick of a controller. I'm not really impressed in PS Move, and the fact that the PS Eye is dead just makes me wonder the real purpose of the PS Move. I'm only expressing an opinion, but yet I'm just asking some people to challenge it if they feel that my theory is not correct. | 2010-03-12 00:05:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
Meh, I already have a wii, and the PS controller for this looks absolutely ridiculous. Move on to LBP already, Sony! Gah, you don't really know how much the Wii sucks!!!! | 2010-03-12 22:55:00 Author: Shockwave4 Posts: 200 |
Gah, you don't really know how much the Wii sucks!!!! Uh? I play and enjoy my Wii very much. Thank you. | 2010-03-13 00:43:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
I think the Move thing looks promising, but it sounds like Sony using it to push casual games in our face too much. Sounds kind of expensive too, i'll probably pass. | 2010-03-13 01:00:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
Uh? I play and enjoy my Wii very much. Thank you. Yeah, but terrible graphics, no hard drive, kiddy-based games, and a not-so-good motion controller system make the Wii suck. The reason why so many people bought the Wii is because they thought "OMFG IF I MOVE MY HAND WITH THE CONTROLLER THINGY TO THE LEFT, THE THING ON THE SCREEN MOVES ITS ARM TO THE LEFT! AND I CAN PLUG A THING CALLED THE NUNCHUCK OR WHATEVER INTO IT AND USE IT AT THE SAME TIME! HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP MAN!" Sure the Playstation Move thing looks the same and I really don't think it's a big deal, but it looks more mature and accurate then the Wiimote. Project Natal looks awesome though... | 2010-03-13 04:45:00 Author: Shockwave4 Posts: 200 |

Project Natal looks awesome though... whoa whoa whoa: you're sounding kinda nerdy there. let's not escalate this. chill out. and i suppose Move is more mature in that it looks like a sex toy, amirite i like my wii, i like the games i play on it, i also like my playstation and its games. i think i dislike you. | 2010-03-13 04:55:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
Four PlayStation Move controllers can connect to a PS3 at one time (or two PlayStation Move Controllers and 2 PlayStation Move sub-controllers). http://gizmodo.com/5491464/playstation-move-gimps-4+player-support Also you can use half your DS3 as a substitute for the sub controller. | 2010-03-13 09:15:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Yeah, but terrible graphics, no hard drive, kiddy-based games, and a not-so-good motion controller system make the Wii suck. whoa whoa whoa also! The Wii has a ton of awesome games, and the controllers work fine on the non-gimmicky stuff. You can't argue that the Wii sucks because of the graphics either! You said that Natal looks awesome though so i'm led to believe that you're either a troll or a very silly person | 2010-03-13 13:44:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
Natal is going to be a godsend for disabled gamers, but it's far too laggy to be used in hardcore games. And lets not wii bash TOO much. It is an entirely different console, aimed at getting people who don't normally play games to join in the fun. It allowed my granny to play. MY GRANNY!! And she's 84!!!! | 2010-03-13 13:56:00 Author: Frogmeister Posts: 236 |
I just mean that Natal is barely capable of any gameplay. Sure it could probably do quite a bit if you're sad enough to flail your arms around pretending that you're holding an imaginary object and straining your hands in the process. I mean you can have driving games and all that, but an invisible driving wheel wouldn't suffice. You'd probably have people making steering wheels out of toilet paper tubes and tape. | 2010-03-13 14:08:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |

I know they say move is more accurate than the vanilla wii remote, but what about motionplus? Also, only 2 controllers if you're using the nunchuckish thing? that's disappointing | 2010-03-13 16:14:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
A lot of you haven't realized yet that most people won't be using 2 sets of controllers at once anyway. Even look at the Wii, 2 sets of controllers were pretty much only used for casual games with a few exceptions, and the PS3 has a history of not including local multiplayer with most games. Chances are you'll only ever need 1 set of controllers for the less casual games, or with games like LBP i seriously doubt all 4 players would be using motion controllers at the same time. | 2010-03-13 16:54:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |

Oh, how many times have I said this on LBPC: It's just a matter of opinion!! Aghh! If you say something about something you like or dislike and then some other people are going to see it and spaz out about it. It happens. Then everybody on one side hates the other side for hating or liking that one thing! It gets SO annoying! I just like expressing my opinion. That's all. No, I don't think it looks mature just because it looks like a sex toy lol I just think it looks mature because it is made for a console that focuses more on mature gaming.... The Wii is a cool system just because it uses motion gaming and has some cool games like Mario Kart Wii, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Super Smash Bros Brawl. But they should really install hard drives and get a better online service for it too. | 2010-03-13 22:20:00 Author: Shockwave4 Posts: 200 |

Yeah, but what about people that are paralyzed? Will they be putting a controller in their mouth and trying to flail their head around to hit a baseball with their bat on the screen? No, I don't think so. And plus if some disabled person that's able to play with their hands wants to buy a motion controller and a console, they can get a PS3 or a Wii and get a Wiimote or PS Move. Simple as that. I just like Project Natal because you don't need a motion controller for it. You use your body. No offense to your 'granny', but I really don't think that many elderly people are very experienced gamers and are going to become a pro-Wii gamer. And not many 'grannies' are good with technology, either. | 2010-03-13 22:30:00 Author: Shockwave4 Posts: 200 |

Oh, how many times have I said this on LBPC: It's just a matter of opinion!! Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you really should find a better way to express yours. Gah, you don't really know how much the Wii sucks!!!! This is something that would have been better presented as I don't like the Wii or I hate the Wii saying that the Wii sucks is taking that opinion and placing it closer to being presented as a factual statement. | 2010-03-14 11:37:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
