The Complete Guide to Secret Materials and Stickers

I just found something!
On the center wheel of the Goddess' Parlor object there is a sound object that looks like a Musical sound object but produces a certain Miscellaneous sound (the twinkling noise)

incorrect my dear watson!
most of materials i own used that glitch to make grabbable DM
but i did find cardboard version in story using my unique technique i showed trip!

it's how i got the metal cardboard from the bikes, also the smearable bubble glass from both the canyons and wedding

Alright. Five pages later...
I refute theeeee!

You can make grabbable DM, but you CANNOT make grabbable DM that looks like and behaves like BOTH dark matter AND sponge. The sponge will look like dark matter, but grabbable, or the dark matter will look like sponge, but you wouldn't be able to grab it.
There!

Hey, when you start the first level of the MGS pack take the camouflage off of the Truck, then there'll be a hidden color sticker on it. It looks like dark turquoise.2010-06-25 05:37:00

Possibly just a misinterpretation. You technically can't have a material which has the properties of both DM and sponge, as they have mutually exclusive properties - DM can't move or be destroyed with bombs, whereas sponge can. But there is a material mentioned in the OP which is from a cactus in the Canyons template which is pretty much like DM, only grabbable, which you can then cow-glitch to look like anything you want.

I think you can find most of the secret stickers in poms's Spice and Co level. Its in a prize bubble, a big block of wood with stickers on it.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but going back through 17 pages?

Well, Joshofsouls showed me a weird method which made sponge dark-matter. I can't seem to get it to work, and Josh said it had a tendency to freeze your system.

Basically, he extracted a square of cardboard from the castle in the Gardens template. He then gassed it, un-gassed it, gassed it, un-gassed it, etc all with the gas tool. He repeated it quite a few times, then saved it to his popit. When he pulled it out, it was DM sponge that looked like cardboard.

Sounds like a ruse to me. Not saying it isn't possible to make grabbable DM that looks like card, but that's not the way I would make it.

I kinda made a thread like this, but the secret materials part as a suptopic. If you said it was ok, maybe I should remove my hidden materials list and just put a link to this thread?

The thread is called "The Small Things in LBP", there's a link in my signature.

Ah yes, I remember that! I started making a level on it too

But there was too much info...

Schbump.

Just realised I'd made a mistake in some of the listings. All fixed now.

Seems that might be it. Last time I said that, we found more.
If you know of a secret material/sticker/decoration/object that isn't here, post it here!

hey trip090! i was just exploring the beta LBP and i found out how to make almost all the drawable objects smearable! its a little wierd

1. place a small bit of drawable material IE. cardboard sponge (or spongeboard as i call it)

2. take out basic cardboard or a material that has the same TEXTURE as the secret material

3. choose any shape and place the shape onto the secret material

4. then you can smear it around the level! but make sure the basic carboard is touching the spongeboard when you place it or it wont work

so, pretty much, the base secret material is not actually smearable but you can smear it using the non-secret material.
...heres a video so its not so hard to understand...

Hmm...perhaps I'm not doing it right. Have a material with the same texture as the secret material touching the secret material and the secret material will be smearable? I can't get it to work. But on the other hand, if you have smearable cardboard sponge in LBP Beta, perhaps there could be a way to transfer it over to LBP?2010-07-28 19:26:00

The GameFAQs guide (http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/938583-littlebigplanet/faqs/54679) says it's one of the prizes you get for collecting all prize bubbles from The Collector's Lair in the Wilderness theme. If you already have all prizes, you might find it easier to locate if you sort your items by theme, and look in the Wilderness section.

An interesting property I discovered with one of the materials.

I had hoped that the Cardboard Gekko Armour Plating might be less shiny and light reflective than the normal metal material we have, so I decided to check out the level and grab a piece to muck around with (it isn't BTW). I dropped a piece of the metal material beside the cardboard stuff and immediately noticed a difference in the panel lines.

The panel lines on both are the same... until you turn them on their sides. Normally, all the panels on the material are raised, leaving recessed panel lines. The Cardboard Gekko Armour Plating however, changes to recessed panels and raised panel lines when turned on it's side. I have no idea how or why this occurs, and wonder if Mm are even aware of it.

It's a small change in detail, but still useful in attaining a slightly different look for those levels or objects with loads of this material in it.
Cheers!

Sure it's not just that one of the material textures is flipped relative to the other? They ought to look identical.

I just checked it against the original material and you are correct. Either material inverts their panel lines when you select it and press down on the right analogue flip button.

My bad, I hadn't noticed this before with the regular stuff, and I guess that the piece I obtained from the level had already been flipped so that's why I noticed and thought it was some sort of glitch. Still, good to know either material has this property.

Might be worth adding, a secret version of the "retro marvel panels" tbh the secret version is epic for stickering...
Left is normal right is secret, to get the secret place a block down (or whatever you want, then use the material change tool and select the retro marvel panels if you material change it it will have basically no edge...
http://i33.tinypic.com/216dmt.jpg

Oh also after going through the very few items from the marvel pack I think ive found some stickers...
http://i34.tinypic.com/2yla238.jpg
From left to right:
Green Splotch (used in heli for camo), Top (used in police car on 2 police men), Bottom Left: Wheel type sticker (used on wheels of police car), Bottom Right: Fantastic 4 Logo (used on police car), Panty Hose looking sticker (used on police car front grill), Purple and Blue splotches (used on Hanging spiderman object).

Also this one is very transparent in game and I had to show it on a black BG

http://i33.tinypic.com/2urs9yx.jpg

Has a window-like effect on glass used on Marvel tanker truck for front windows.

AFTER going through the marvel level pack I found ALOT of sticker...not sure on them though so I will take pics and post of them

Unfortunately, only one of those stickers are new, which is the police officer sticker. I don't know about the Fantastic Four sticker though.

Also, you can find another sticker like the police sticker when you go to the fire guy from Fantastic Four, the villains there have a sticker like that.

Agreed... only the custom sticker is new, but there are actually more if you know where to look. Try taking the stickers off the buildings in level 2. The buildings that move by in the background. There is a similar sticker in the Incredibles showcase level.

The smooth edge on the retro cardboard was discovered back when the pack first released, and I've informed Spaff of the curiosity. I let him know that a standard material like this would be awesome.

Dunno if this fits what you're looking for, but you can separate the skateboard's wheels by crushing the board. It's similar to the roller skate wheel but it occupies a full thick layer (the roller skate wheel is thack) and it's actually two side-by side wheels. I like to use if for single layer cars.

Also there's an empty sound in the musical sound object. Set it to e-drum hi-hat and use the d-pad to tweak to the right 3-4 times until you don't hear a sound. You can set it to "on destruction" to eliminate the dissolve/demit gassy sound or set it to "on impact" to eliminate an object's impact sound.

I posted both here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=17027-Unnoticed-Things-In-LBP/page5), but it was suggested that the sound could use a tutorial. I didn't think it was a big enough deal to warrant a whole new thread but thought it might fit here.

Those things certainly do need a tutorial but I agree they don't need a whole thread. I'll be glad to add them to the list, seeing as they are secret oddities. Those skateboard wheels are pretty useful.

I'm not sure if I should add the Retro Panel glitch because it is, well, a glitch. I won't add it, unless someone can persuade me otherwise...

Anyway, I'll update the list soon (hopefully tomorrow)!

And tomorrow it is! I've added a few more things.

I added the objects for Sehven but I struggled to find a suitable section to put them in, seeing as they are items you have to make in a way. I hope it's not overkill but Sehven, you have your own section.

Just so it would be easier to navigate, I was thinking of adding spoilers but I'm not sure which way to categorize them - by section, theme, material etc.

So if you have any ideas, whether it be which way it should be categorized or a new way to organize it altogether, just say!

Booyah! A Sehven section! Nobody else has their own section

Just kidding. Really, I'd think the wheels would fit in the same section as the bolted switches: crushing the skateboard off of them isn't so different from dissolving all the materials off the switches. The sound could probably go in that section too or under oddites.

As for how to spoiler it, you've already got it divided into sections, so you could just use those. Or you could have one for materials, one for stickers, and group the rest of the stuff in a third section.

I think I'll go ahead and write a short tut with pictures for the sound thing, but since this thread stays close to the top (and gets read by more people) you should keep it here too.

Added a new material, Un-Grabbable Snow Paper, courtesy of BossyCubeFarm. It's an odd one. I can't make out what material's properties it's got, although it's most likely stone or metal. It still keeps its impact sound though.2010-08-29 12:29:00

I've found more stuff (mostly original story mode and some 0.0 Emmiters for people who don't have the MGS pack )

0.0 Emmiter on Grab-Bridge Object (for people who don't have MGS pack)
x17 0.0 Emmiters on Large Magic Bridge Object (for people who don't have MGS pack)
x6 0.0 Emmiters on Mechanical Magic Bridge Object (for people who don't have MGS pack)
Sprung Bolted 3 Way switch on Mechanical Magic Bridge Object
(not 100% sure on this) but I think the lights on Tube Race Washer are a non availible color option (they are bright orange and I changed one light and never could match it to the others colors

Seated Skeleton Object makes a noise when you walk by, no switch or anything O_O
on a few of the story characters (when they have pink speech) if you try to change the text it will have a string in it that is a refernce to a main speech file ex: "AFRICA_MAIN_MEERCAT_KINGDOM_17428_SPEECH"

SOrry if this is alreayd in here (or a given material) but the outside of the large roundish object left of the spawn of the Islands template appears to be cardboard-like with a wood look

Also Anti-Grav Light Brown Wood is in gardens template in the castle 2 main parts...

There's a real unique sound object on the Godess' Parlor object.

It's white, as in a musical sound, but it makes a magical twinkling sound.

What makes it unique is that I'm 90% sure it's slightly different sounding than the twinkling in the miscellaneous speaker. It sounds more like it has wind chimes or something in the background... Real odd.

Also, on the traffic light in the metropolis theme, the wires are attached in the middle of the object itself. Dissolve it all, and you're left with 2 untweakable white LEDS that produce orange light, and the light is in the same area no matter what size the LED goes.

Yush. I wush board.

Yeah, you can't remove the bolt, but you can still at least make things spin at 80 speed.

I might use it in my next level, just for teh lolz.

I'm not sure it needs a whole tutorial, it's pretty easy to do. Maybe just a guide on all the cool stuffs that happens with the bolt?

Yeah, you can't remove the bolt, but you can still at least make things spin at 80 speed.

Or if you just use a wobble bolt with a rotational angle >= 360 degrees, and fed with a directional input, you can make things spin even faster (up to the maximum limit of 900rpm).

I thought the limit was 64800 RPM

540 set for rotation degrees at 0.5s per rotation = 540*120 = 64800RPM

Umm. 540 is only 1.5 revolutions, not 540 revolutions. The fastest settings are 540 and 0.2...

(540/360)*(60/0.2) == 450... but despite what it claims, it actually goes twice as fast, which gives 900. Anything over 900 will start to spin in the opposite direction and slow down, and when you hit 1800rpm, it stops moving at all.

Hiya, this is my first post on LBPC.
I am in the process of compiling every secret sticker to give away to anyone who wants them, this thread made that pretty easy.
I am nearly finished, and it should be posted by tomorrow night. "Secret Sticker Kit" by DaftMuffin.

While I was compiling I noticed 2 things:

Trippy Swirly Background ,from dancer's court, is a "custom sticker". I'm not 100% sure how they made it, but If you look close you'll see its partially glass. Also, there is a blue poppit cursor clearly visible. Additionally, it is the familiar photo rectangle.

Turquoise, from MGS Addon is also a "custom sticker", but I'm only going off the photo rectangle shape.
This sticker reminds me a lot of the TALAKAMAN (sp?) color swatch prizes that come with the community levels on the GOTY disc.

Happy Creating!

Sorry I haven't updated this in a while. With the LBP2 Beta, I've been rather distracted from LBP1. But don't worry! This isn't dead! I'll still be updating this later and, hopefully, in the future I can add secret materials and the like from LBP2. 2010-10-29 22:25:00

i think media moleule may have put these *secret objects* in here not only to help them make the game, but to see if we could figure out how to get them, how to tinker with the stuff they made, and made their objects so that they couldn't be taken apart, without destroying the object in create mode. i think they did a good job of it too. though.. they really should have left this stuff in bubbles for us to get.2010-10-29 22:47:00

Or even better, I have a copyable level with all this stuff in it.

The Complete Level of Secret Materials and Stickers or The Garden of Goodies. Either one.

I just found something out! The sticker switch tutorial provides official names for three of these stickers! The Red X is called "Red Paint Cross", the Bullseye is called "Target", and the Heart is called, well, "Heart". It's also the only place where you can tweak sticker switches to use them! 2010-11-13 06:58:00

It's know as "Dirt Smudge" under the realistic section of the stickers pop-it.

Although the explosion version may actually be darker...

I'm pretty sure the "explosion sticker" is unobtainable and different from the Dirt Smudge.

...By the way, does anyone know if that sticker that appears on the planet in "The Collector", after the scoreboard comes down, is unobtainable?

The one that's a sticker collage? It is, it may be given when you complete create mode tutorials, although I may be wrong.

Alright, I haven't posted in a while and with the inroduction of LBP2, this list will probably never see the light of day again

But I'd like to take this oppertunity to say thank you to everyone, especially those who've supported and contributed to this list. It's huge! I started it off thinking it would gain a couple more items and then be buried on page 20 within a few days. But no, thanks to you, the community, it grew into a beautiful monsterous guide of pretty much every secret item in LBP1.

And it's awesome.

Truly this list is something to be proud of. All I hope is that we can carry it on in LBP2 and make it even bigger!

So again, thank you all for making this list what it is today. I couldn't have done it without you guys.

Yeah it would. Then it could live on forever...

Although I'm not sure about how much secret items there are in LBP2. There are hardly any MM made objects given to you ingame and there are no templates.

I'll probably eat those words now.

I think some secret stickers have been located already, but I forget the details. As for secret materials, there's the textureless metal one you can make by placing any material, but when selecting what shape you want, press X and O at the same time.

No doubt there's also a few which have been harvested from god-glitched beta Story Levels.

I'm not so sure though that anything taken from the beta with the god-glitch can be considered "secret". If anyone can give details on these stickers though, that would be great!

Seems there's a similar thread here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=51718-Secret-stickers-decorations-and-materials-list-feel-free-to-add-on!) with some additional info.

You can extract the material used in the base of scoreboards, which can be one of four different types depending on how it's tweaked, of which I believe at least two are unique:-

Create scoreboard and choose material type.
Crush the backpiece using a heavy thin piece of material in the rear thin layer.
Now just capture the base, and you should be able to smear from popit.

All of the scoreboard materials are unique. The wood, metal, and plastic materials all have unique textures, and the cardboard material looks like basic cardboard but is heavier, stronger, and bomb-proof.

As for secret stickers, there's the one that's included by default on all microchips.

LBP2: if you go into one of the tower of whoop levels from the beta there are loads of sound objects that look like one but sound like others, also if you go to one of the mini towers outside made from toilet rolls you can walk through the front of them, theres also a light with a slightly different colour just on top

Someone discovered a new secret material (http://lbp.me/v/xx67r4) which has no texture, is invisible, and behaves like glass. Plus, there's a few secret stickers that I found out about since my last post: the one that's included by default on all Sequencers, and the Christophe Molecule stickers from the easter egg in "Got the Hump".2011-04-18 20:01:00

hey. This is my first post on any site so sorry if i do it wrong. I found a way to get a sinking holographic material, that is editable and smearable. capture some hologram and emit it from an emitter, set to destroy by falling apart. Pause after the breaking sound and duplicate the emitted block. Next turn it into gas, capture it to poppit, get the captured version out and unlethalize it. Finished. It should now be editable in all the normal ways but will not float and cannot be recaptured into poppit.2011-06-05 06:05:00

I found a material in LBP2 that has no texture, is invisible, unmoveable without selecting the area it's in, has the characteristics of cardboard, grabable, unbreakable, not smearable, cant use and no method can be used to cut out a shape of it, strangely shaped like a banana. Hope you can figure something out from this! I call it Invisible Banana Material!2011-06-10 04:14:00

Me and my friend found TONS of secret materials last Summer. they're in each LBP1 story template, and look like normal materials. but the catch is that they behave like Dark Matter without any tweaking whatsoever. you really have to look for them, because they're well hidden.2011-06-13 22:50:00

therr was one on Terrible ONI, if you unlethalize him, the block he is standing on is glitches in LBP1. I used it to make invisible gas in my Crane Game level. It's only invisible if played in LBP1.

I didn't see this on the list anywhere.

I found some weird stickers in the marvel pack on the Freeway Frenzy level. there is a wall with graffiti sticker on the walls as you zoom past, and both building types in the middle layer are made with photo stickers. I also found another two, one each on the burglars in the human torches lorry and one on the police in the cars.2011-07-09 19:40:00

Secret items are the things that Media Molecule don't give you. Some of these materials resemble glitched materials with swapped properties but if Media Molecule used them, why can't we? Some of these are real patterned proper materials and the stickers are the real deal too. There are many members of the community out there that don't know about these hidden gems so I've started up this thread to categorize and store information about all the secret stickers and materials out there and how to get them, seeing as it's pretty hard to find out about all the secret creation goodies from just one place.

This now includes objects by popular demand.

Big shout out to ViniciusBR11 for the brilliant pictures of the materials!

Extra:

The Complete Level to Secret Materials and Stickers is out now! It contains the majority of the materials featured here (even the non-editable ones like lava), all the stickers, decorations and objects. So, if you need a material, or even all of them, just copy the level to your moon and save what you want. It's that easy!

____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____
Material Count: 50

Sticker Count: 71

Decoration Count: 2

Object Count: 16
____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____

Materials

Here are just some of the secret materials. Includes an editable field to tell if the material is either smearable (drag and draw), drawable (place and then place again and also corner editable), or not editable at all.

Some materials use this method (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=23421-Cardboard-wood-aka-cream-wood-make-any-shape-you-want-with-it&highlight=cardboard+wood) to make them editable (I'll refer to it as the Bomb Method).

Another handy method to know is the Cookie Cutter Method, where you make a cutter out of a material (just a shape cut out of a large block of material, such as wood) and copy and paste it into the material you want a shape of. Then, delete the cutter and the outside material leaving a shape of material behind.

Unique Materials

These materials are unique and are "true" secret materials. They have a factor, such as texture or a special property, which makes them unique. They cannot be created or reproduced by any means and can only be obtained through the story objects and templates.

Items

Here is where all those secret objects, weird switches, odd connectors and strange emitters go. Some of these things have settings we can't do, others are entirely new objects.

Fan
What is it: A thin layered object made by Media Molecule.
Where is it: On the wobbly platforms from the Islands theme.
How to get it: Turn everything (excluding the fan as it cannot be material changed) into dissolve and dissolve these pieces. Take the stickers off the fan.
Limitations: None. The fan acts like a normal thin layered object.

Tweakable Laser
What is it: An MGS laser that's tweakable just like a normal light. It can also be turned on and off.
Where is it: In the Super Sentry Turret from the MGS Pack.
How to get it: Extracting the lasers is a tricky business and is difficult to explain in writing. Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oXjczfW700&annotation_id=annotation_519347&feature=iv) is a link to a video by yonisyuumei, creator of the Virus Survival level, and how to extract the laser after the Cornish Yarg update (the video also tells you how to make the fantastic wavy laser effect in yonisyuumei's level).
Limitations: None really, only that it can only be hooked up to a magnetic key switch.
Picture:

Super Fast Emitter
What is it: An emitter with the frequency of 0.0.
Where is it: On the bubble dispenser from the MGS Pack, the Grab-Bridge from the Temples theme, the Mechanical Magic Bridge from the Temples theme and the Large Magic Bridge from the Temples theme.
How to get it: Simply save the object to the My Objects section and place it. The emitter will become detachable.
Limitations: None. The emitter acts like a normal emitter (except it has a different setting).
Picture:
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/6112/emmiter.png

Infinite Emitter
What is it: An emitter with the frequency of infinite.
Where is it: On the jumping tank vehicle from the Wilderness theme.
How to get it: Simply save the object to the My Objects section and place it. The emitter will become detachable.

Faster Motor Bolt
What is it: A motor bolt that goes at 80 instead of 60.
Where is it: On the Large Wooden Steed story character.
How to get it: To my knowledge you can't. The copy method or any other method I know of works.
Limitations: Check above. Anyone who knows how to get this bolt, please say!
Note:It is possible to just obtain the cotton reel with the bolt attached by dissolving the rest of the Large Wooden Steed and use the reel on your own creation.

Bolted 2-Way Switch
What is it: A 2-Way switch with a bolt on the lever's joint. Allows you to tweak the lever's stiffness setting.
Where is it: On the Raising Steps obstacle object from the Canyons theme.

Limitations: None. The switch acts as normal, unless you tweak the bolt.
Picture:
http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/2190/2waybolt.png

Bolted 3-Way Switch
What is it: A 3-Way switch with a sprung bolt on the lever's joint. Allows you to tweak the lever's stiffness and direction settings.
Where is it: On the Mechanical Magic Bridge obstacle object from the Temples theme.
How to get it: Dissolve everything except the switch.
Limitations: None. The switch acts as normal, unless you tweak the bolt.
Picture:

I know a secret LBP2 sticker and secret LBP2 costumes. The silver quilted skin, which you get by saving one of the sackbot's costumes in the advanced camera tutorial, and taking off the head piece. The Skin-colored skin, which you get by putting on Victoria's or Avalon's costume, putting on some glasses, and removing the glasses. And the microchip sticker, which is stuck by default on microchips.2011-12-31 23:51:00

This combination with Victoria's costume end up with my PS3 frozen when I attempt to save new costume.
