NOT ACTUALLY RECOMMENDING ... Things Delicious by BOIA

I'm rather flabbergasted.

This level is EXPERTLY DONE. The level design is BRILLIANT, the gameplay is TOP TIER, and the skill shown is MASTERFUL.


... AND I NEVER EVER WANT TO HAVE TO EVEN LOOK AT THIS LEVEL EVER AGAIN.

I had to heart the creator for sheer skill (and his "G.o.w. in progress" level is really, really fun), but I couldn't bring myself to heart this thing. I don't even want it's name anywhere near my profile. I've never before wanted to give simultaneous 5-star and 1-star ratings.

Things Delicious by BOIA. I'm not actually *recommending* it. I'm simply pointing at it, mouth agast.		2010-03-10 02:45:00

Alright. Jagrevi hit it right on the head. You have to marvel at the ingenuity of the level, as well as the shear vulgarity of it all. I had no choice but to give it 5 stars, but I know that it will likely be moderated. For anyone who is curious, it looks great. Plays okay. The level looks great, first of all, but I'm totally clear on the motivations. Many of the scenes are just immature potty-humor in LBP form. This includes, but is not limited to:
Rats having sex.
Rat having sex with cheese.
A scene which seems to promote smoking.
Drinking urine.
Eating poop.
Lots of urine and poop stained underwear.
Playing with snot.
Etc.


What seems to exacerbate the issue is that it looks good, making it seem like it's not a bad thing to make these sort of levels. My opinion is that it will surely be moderated.		2010-03-10 15:52:00

I sort of hope it does get moderated. There are children playing this game. I don't think they should be exposed to some of that stuff.

That being said, I have to wonder why the creator would waste their time making something like that. Especially if it's as good as you guys say it is.		2010-03-10 16:54:00

yeah, you're probably right about that. Usually when you see a vulgar level, though, it's usually a bit of pink floaty doing something inappropriate, a couple pieces of yellow sponge and some dark matter. It boggles the mind that something like this exists. lol. I guess I'm just trying to wrap my brain around the whole thing. I sorta want to play it, but there's a part of me that knows I'll probably be offended. lol. Curiosity killed the cat.2010-03-10 17:10:00

OK - Curiosity got the better of me. And everyone here was right. At first I thought...
...ok a little poo and snot humor... we've seen this before. and the rat sex scene will surely get it moderated, but not - in my eyes - all that offensive...
But then I got to the clothes line section, and...
...soiled feminine hygiene products? really? and then eating the poo? and then more poo than I've seen in an LBP level before - very well animated for extra effect?...no thank you. Ick.

Although... again, as everyone here has pointed out, it is really well made, and looks fantastic (aside from the obviously offensive content), and it plays very well. So I gave it (don't flame me here) 5 stars. I didn't heart it though, if that counts in my favor!		2010-03-10 18:09:00

I agree with Vortex on this one. (5 stars no heart) It's got gross factor 10 and will surely be moderated if it gets reported... but it's done well, which is the mind bending part of it. Hope he uses his creator powers for "good" in the future.2010-03-10 18:16:00

Well, I don't think I'd be able to based on the content but IF I Did... um....

If your easily offended or grossed out by bodily functions and their inevitable aftermath please disregard the following level. In what is a very memorable if a bit disturbing level by BOIA you will be faced with incredibly taboo concepts and images, basic biologic functions, bugs and other generally icky subject matter. So why is this a good level your asking? Firstly the character design is stylish and clever. Using stickers and moving parts to further add dimension to already well rendered characters. Secondly there are some excellent physics based platform sections in it. The alternating see saw section was a highlight for me. So the bottom line is it's a level made by a creator with excellent skills and questionable tastes.

sexial yes should be removed. gory no some good levels are very bloody and I hate to see them removed..

umm if you make something extremely gory like I always suggest putting 15+ ages only on the description.

I seen two levels with a lot of gory detail*a guy getting cut in two with real looking organs and its still up and never been modarated as it has 15+ on it.		2010-03-10 23:18:00

Definitely a quality level, great character design and gameplay, but... very traumatic, especially for children. I hearted the creator because he is obviously talented, albeit messed up in the head. Oh dear. I've been recommending BOIA for months as he is my favourite creator but he's let me down on this one.

While it does show what a talented guy he is and what awesome characters he can make the level itself is a bit nauseating to say the least and I didn't manage to finish it at that so heaven knows what else was in there.

I recommend you ignore this one and play his other great levels instead.

He normally sends me a message when he has a new level out but he never let me know about this one. I can see why now.

I'm 15 and played it.

I honestly thought the humour that was portrayed was very strange but all in all not that offensive. Some parts were understandably gross and deranged but it was still an amazing level. The characters were so well made and gameplay was also top-notch.

I'll have to check out this guy's other stuff, although this wasn't my ideal type of level.

Don't play if you can't handle seeing what was said earlier in spoiler tags.

I dunno. I guess I'm inhuman then. I don't really think that sort of thing is funny at all, but that's not why I won't play the level. Wow! I thought my own level Tenement was in danger of moderation, but this clearly shows that you can get away publishing with absolutely anything in LBP. What a deliciously horrible level though! Despite being a mature adult and responsible parent who should not condone this kind of thing, I loved every minute of it. Look beyond the vulgar themes and you'll find an expertly crafted level with a unique aesthetic and some immensely fun, innovative gameplay mechanics to boot.

I must thank Jagrevi for recommending/not recommending this. Whether the humour is appropriate for LBP or not, it would be a travesty if this creator's talent were to go unrecognised.		2010-03-11 10:03:00

I suppose your right. He wanted to get a reaction similar to the one in this thread. If he made a quality level with nothing to talk about, it probably would have never gotten recommended. I wonder if he know this thread exists?		2010-03-19 15:27:00

I agree to an extent, but this cant be done in the current lbp. The inevitable sequel needs to be rated T, still keep the cutesy theme and all, but needs a "Your experience may change online"		2010-03-26 03:12:00
