Visiting The CanyonsSpark151
http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp327/staticspark151/LittleBigPlanet%20PSP/VisitingTheCanyons.jpgRemember that boring place on
LittleBigPlanet PS3? Well is it boring if you
get to play it on the PSP?
Everything from Bombs to Serpents
This level is not a remake of any level form "The Canyons".
Although, it does consist of stuff from "The Canyons".

This level is promising. It is also fun.
The level was well corner edited.
In the level, there are stuff from "Boom Town", "The Mines", and "Serpent Shrines".
(Too those new people on LittleBigPlanet PSP, become ready to play a level similar to the three form LBP PS3).

Here's the Pros and Cons about the Level.

Pros:
Well Corner Edited
Free Items (Optional to gain)
Brought back 2 Monsters from the PS3
Overall, It's PS3 In your pocket

Cons:
The level does contain a lag
(I tried to fix that, but the closest I could do to fixing it is that the lag stops halfway through the level)
You *may* get lost not knowing what to do
(If you played the PS3 version. you will not)

My level is very good!!! There should not be any problems.... I hope....
I tested this level many times and did not have any problems.
(In fact, I let my little brother test my level and he played with no problem)

I hope you enjoy the new level and thanks for checking it out.

I'll have to check it out! Also, I envy you for having a brother who will play your levels. I have a little brother too, but he's so stubborn that he wont play them simply because he knows it annoys me.2010-03-10 02:44:00

Another great level Sparks. The lag was not to bad.

Once again you have captured the essence of the ps3 game. You enemies looked exactly like the originals. Very nice!

Five stars and a heart for the best ps3 level so far!

Hidy Ho Spark! When I got your PM I was excited to give this level a play, and here I am with some feedback :-)

This level is a PERFECT representation of the Canyons from the PS3 version of LBP. Like you said, it isn't actually a remake, but more of a mash-up of all the different levels from the Canyons theme. In all honesty, I think that I like this level more than each of the individual Canyon levels because this takes all the great parts and sort of combines them. Then again, I have been without a PS3 for 5 or 6 months now, so maybe the nostalgia is just kicking in when I play this :-P

So, let's talk about the level. All in all, I really don't have much to say since it's just an awesome reproduction of concepts from the Canyon levels. It looks BEAUTIFUL, and I just can't believe how well you have captured the spirit of the canyons. From the start (where you come down in the Heart), to tipping over the stack of grabbable material, to the fiery ball rolling down the hill, to the mine-cart, OH! and not to mention the snake thing that goes through the channel. This is just sooo great!.

There were two small things I wanted to comment on for a tiny bit of criticism, but before you even read the criticism, I want you to realize that the level was incredible as it is!!!

First of all, near the end, there is a part where you go outside (I think it is after the snake part), and the scenery takes a big dip. I think it was when you are jumping over a series of cactus. The level looks sooo good, and never gets repetitive, so this part just stood out since you had to jump over 4 cactus in a row, plus there wasn't much of a background. My guess is that you were out of thermo because this level is LOOOONG (in a good way ), but if you aren't, it would be good if you could add some extra detail there.

My last remark is something that you can easily fix, and I think that you will be very happy to hear it since it may be something that was irritating you :-) I noticed that all of your elevators are crooked. I'm sure that you didn't do that intentionally, and when I saw that you have a "Call-Back" system, I knew EXACTLY what your problem was. You have your invisible winch set to too low of a minimum (I'm talking about the winch which pulls the level over and causes it to come back down). I ran into this issue in Lost at Sea, and I was SOOOOO happy after I finally figured out what was wrong (it took me FOREVER to figure out). When you have the setting too low, it causes the entire elevator to rotate a bit. I'm guessing that the second you raise the minimum, you should see the whole thing straighten out :-)

Alrighty, that is all I've got. This level is remarkable, and I think that everyone should give it a play ASAP!

Keep up the awesome work Spark!

Wow! I'm just heading off to bed for the evening, but I just had to stop by and say this level is incredible! I'll post my full feedback later, but this gets a huge thumbs-up from me. When I started playing I said to myself "Oh, Spark did the first Canyons level, neat." No, you did all of them. I never thought this would be as epic as it turned out. Fantastic job.

The lag is slightly annoying but not bad. Two spots I see as the source: 1) The spinning gears at the first elevator. Are these hooked up to a player proximity switch or do they spin all the time? They should be hooked up to a switch. 2) Same question for the snakes in the temple. If they constantly emitting you should hook them to a proximity switch. One other quick fix is in the catapult room with the wrestler. The third hanging grab wheel is a little too low and it makes getting on the ledge a little awkward. Oh, and what's with the description? The PS3 levels weren't boring! (and of course neither is this)

Anyway, this is really killer stuff man. I'll be back for some proper feedback tomorrow.

Hi, Spark151! I just played your new level and must say, that you did very cool remake of PS3 level. All on level very cool done and several times I think, that you somehow just copy level parts from PS3 without any changes. You did great work with materials and corner tool to create this Canyons atmosphere. I saw so many very good done devices and environments, that several time was amazed and just tried to understand how you made it.

I have only one small comment - near finish table, when player must take bomb to explosives in second and last time there is no much space above button, that made new bomb. So, when player fly over this button, he very often push button with help of bomb, that he carry... and if it takes place, then bomb just disappear from sackboy hands and appear in initial place. I had this event four times during first walkthrough. I think that this part can be fixed very easily, if you think that it must be fixed.

Except it, I found all parts of your new level wonderful and here my 5:star: and heart for it.

I've just republished this level.
It's still laggy, but I hope that doesn't bother you.

Also, Taffey, I put a sensor switch on snake thingy before my first publish.
Although, I haven't thought about putting one where the first elevator

Wonderful level! I didn't have any problems at all in the level, and it was every entertaining. I liked the overall feel even though I haven't played the PS3 version. The gameplay was nice, with a few puzzles and platforming too. Also, the aesthetics were nice, though the rock texture seemed a little weird at times. I could have suggested the multilayer technique there. Nice job!

Wow! This is your best work yet spark! I've never played the Ps3 version but I've seen some videos. The gameplay was top notch in this level, my favorite section was inside the mines. The part where you had to empty out the rocks! The highlight of the level of your use of scenery though. The rocky hills were so well done! They only thing I could suggestion you improving on is the slowdown. It doesn't matter if you can't stop it, its still a great level! Obviously I gave it 5 stars and a heart. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Ps. Could you leave feedback on my level "A Sack's Tale"? Its in my sig.

Hello Spark,

Feedback: The heart at the beginning was surprising but it wasn't much of a bother. The first thing that was a bit off was the blocks. I didn't get that. Was that from the PS3 version? (I don't have a PS3) The snake part was kind of hard. But, what I liked was that you used the magnetic switches attached to the winch that held up the grab material. So when the snake came it lifted you up just before it could hit you. That was suspenseful and clever. Most of your switches were visible, so you were probably trying to show the player the mechanics of your level, right? I didn't like the fact that the switches were visible, but again it's just to show how you worked out your mechanics. Your creatures were pretty darn cool. I liked Calevera the wrestler, it made me so scared just to crawl under him. You're level was awesome so I gave it Five stars and a Heart. - Is it okay if I don't have a level to leave feedback on?- My levels got deleted after a crash. (red screen)

Hi Spark,

I played this level late last night and it is serously brilliant. It was too varied for me to be able to give you proper feedback without playing it a couple more times - there was just so much in it! That cactus-y, bean-y, snake-y thing is awesome!

So I finished playing the level and found it to be a little do disconnected. It was just that every new place I got to was something different and I felt there was no real theme to it. Now I never played the ps3 version so maybe that what it is suppose to be. I really did like the the platforming and the snake and that was treated. I gave it 4 stars.2010-03-12 20:09:00

Alright, time for a proper review! You'll have to forgive any brevity (nerd word alert!) and grammar/spelling errors (this means you CyberSora) because I'm typing this up on my iPhone in an airplane. No, my phone radio is off - I'm using the notepad and will copy/paste later.

Well, I haven't even started yet and I'm already off track! Anyway, I just played this again to remind myself how awesome it was. Yep, it's awesome. The thing that impresses me the most overall is that you captured the look and feel of The Canyons levels while still coming up with something new and different that you can call your own. Some people may think of this as a copy or a port, but it is hardly either of those things. You have assembled a masterful remix of all the best bits from the whole series of levels, and somehow crammed them all into a single PSP creation. I was really just expecting a tribute to maybe one level, but boy was I surprised when you started covering all of the levels. I actually had to pause the game a couple of times to try and remember which levels the different stuff came from. It all flows wonderfully from one area to the next, and even when you know the levels like the back of your hand (I have a platinum trophy for LBP PS3) it was still difficult to pick out the transitions you made.

Visually this level is brilliant. The corner editing on the rocky landscape (which is acually wood - that always cracked me up) is spot on, and your recreations of the PS3 objects is great. Some things were probably fairly easy while others were quite difficult I'm sure. The round spiky cacti you jump over, for example, were reasonably intricate from a stickering point of view, but most players will never notice that they aren't game-provided premade objects. The cow skull is another very nice touch, and I was glad to see it both repeating throughout the level and available as a prize. The devil is in the details, like your decision to make the white skull actually out of black material to give it a fine black outline as though it was hand drawn. Great stuff.

People who have never played the PS3 version of the game will not understand many of your small references, like the visible switches and the heart elevator/carriage thing. To those people I say: Beg, borrow, or steal a PS3 and play LBP to see what it's all about (but be sure to come back to LBP PSP). The gameplay matches the PS3 nearly perfectly, such as the am-I-going-to-die feeling of the snake temple and the white knuckle tension of carrying impact bombs through Boom Town. The tunnels are a new addition, but I thought a very clever work-around for the lack of that 3rd thick layer.

I didn't have many problems. The lag is very noticeable but not overly distracting; I'll gladly put up with it for the sake of the gameplay and sweet visuals. I noted a couple of other small issues I found in my first post, but haven't really found much else to gripe about since then. As previously mentioned, the button to spawn the second impact bomb is easy to accidentally hit. You can fix this by corner editing a little extra room into the ceiling or changing the emitted maximum from two to three. Hardly game-breaking by any stretch and in all honesty not altogether complaint-worthy.

Great level - your best by far in my book. Keep making "PS3 remix" levels like this and you'll have a lot of loyal fans. Obviously 5 stars and a heart. Awesome sauce!

The tunnels were a nice touch, well at least when it's well corner-editied.

I think you didn't download my republished version? I don't know?
Anyways, I fixed that mistake

Once again, Thank you everybody, especially Amazingflyingpoo and Taffey!!

Spark, I seem to have problems with your snakes getting clogged up in the first little snake tunnel. It can be easily fixed if you set the emitter to only 1 alive at a time.2010-03-16 00:52:00

Umm, the snakes would be slow to spawn then and for some odd reason, I noticed this too.
This should never be like this... The snakes should have ran smooth through the level...

Hey Spark, I just replayed the updated version and I think might run a bit smoother now.

I always like replaying good levels for one reason to check out all the little details that I would miss on a first play through. You visuals are always top notch and your use of stickers is so impressive. You are an artist my friend.

This really did capture the essence of the ps3 version.

I hearted this again of course.

Hey Spark,

What a sparkling level! Congratulations for making it to the community spotlight once again. This was a well-done nostalgic trip back to the Canyons on the PS3 version, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

A standing ovation,
