A little improvement of the copy tool...

Archive: 6 posts

I am a little irritated over the copy tool, and this is two things I suggest should be fixed:

1: You can't turn or rotate the object you copy, neither change the layer it is placed on. And there is no flipping option, like with the stickers, so you have to make a thing from scratch again, if you want it mirrored. PLEASE improve this.

2: If I want to pick up something with the popit cursor, you snap to the middle of it instantly. If there is an object in front of the middle, that will be copied instead...

Am I the only one who experiences these irritating glitches?

I agree with the flipping. I would find it handy, rather than remaking items.2010-03-08 18:29:00

1: You can't turn or rotate the object you copy, neither change the layer it is placed on.I do find this mildly annoying, but to be honest I've gotten used to it. It's just an extra step to plop it down, exit the copy function, and reselect the new item with the popit cursor. It would be a nice-to-have for sure but I don't think critical.

And there is no flipping option, like with the stickers, so you have to make a thing from scratch again, if you want it mirrored. PLEASE improve this.Ah, now this is an excellent point. A flipping/mirroring option would be hugely useful, and now that we have a real copy function I'd think this sort of thing would be fairly easy to do.

2: If I want to pick up something with the popit cursor, you snap to the middle of it instantly. If there is an object in front of the middle, that will be copied instead... I actually haven't experienced this at all. I know what you mean by the cursor snapping to the center of the object you selected, but when you copy it I don't think it will instead copy an object that happens to be in front of it. At least I don't think it does. Gotta try this out.

Yes these ideas are good, but for now lets just be thankful that we even got the copy tool.2010-03-09 03:10:00

Well the problem with my copy tool is that when I select and object and it is in the front of any other object it copies the object behind it instead.2010-03-09 09:22:00

I have also found that the copy tool will copy the object that is directly beneath your cursor, even if it isn't the object that you have selected. I have also found that if I attempt to copy an object that has no material at it's centre, such as a U-shaped object, it will go a bit mad and make a repeated beeping noise unless I press circle or reselect the object I want to copy, at which point it will automatically copy it.2010-03-09 09:44:00
