Editable Thin/Thick glitch material ?

Archive: 8 posts

As the title says, I'm looking for some and would be grateful if anyone could tell me if there is any and how I get it if there is.

I searched on LBP and on here but had no luck. I have some from Tradersam's level but it isn't editable at all. Can't corner edit or smudge so it's basically useless for what I want.

I also found a copyable level with Thin/Thick sponge ( forget who by ) and did that and captured some but it still won't let me edit it.

Thanks.

The easy way of doing this glitch is gone. It's called theck and thack layers. The copyable level you found was probably created by Sehven. (It also contains every sort of material with changed properties (minus the new materials)) I don't think you will be able to find any levels that contain a modify-able theck/thack anymore. You can still make it yourself though.

What you do is grab the object, click L3 to copy, then change its thickness with L2/R2.

Click X before it finishes and if you're lucky, it'll be theck/thack instead of thin/thick.

Even if it does work, you may still have to try a few more times before you get one that doesn't pop back to thick when you select it.

Also, if anybody wants to create their own materials, it may still be possible, but extremely obnoxious to do. What you have to do is delete your gamedata (back up your profile first, obviously). Then just run through the updates until you get to the one just before mgs and hit cancel (you'll have to find a list of the updates and count how many until cornish yarg, then stop before you hit yarg). This idea used to be practical, but I'm not sure how well it'll work after leerdammer since your profile is in gamedata instead of savedata. You may have to start with an empty profile and unlock all the materials again. At any rate, it's more trouble than I want to go through, but if you really want some material glitch stuff, go for it.

Try searching 'Theck & Thack' (or 'Thack & Theck', I forget) by author HongKong (I think it's actually HongKongleran, it's been a while)
I was able to grab the half-layers from that level and edit them. This was before the Pirates update, though, so I don't know if it still works. Good luck!

I have checkpoint and golfball thick material, as do quite a few members. They are not smearable, but are corner editable. I can probably put some in my glitch layers level. In fact, I'm not sure why I haven't done that already. Give me a few hours to get on that...

It doesn't contain EVERY sort of material: just the majority. I kept adding materials in the order of my personal preference until I ran out of thermo (turns out I could've left out the circle shapes, since they're redundant, and I could've squeezed in quite a few more materials.... oh well). The theck/thack materials in that level are editable by me but nobody else. I've been able to give them to people through a series of copy/paste/capture (can never remember the exact sequence and it usually takes about 5 minutes of experimenting before I can get it to work). I keep meaning to do that trick and then stick them back into the level so people can capture them, but I haven't got around to it.

I can't remember where exactly I posted this or how much is directly lifted from my post (at least the entire last paragraph), but if you're gonna' do a copy/paste from someone else, you should at least acknowledge that that's what you did.

they are not grabable when another layer is behind the theck/thack layer.2010-03-09 00:04:00

Thanks for all the info guys.

That by comphermc sounds like the easiest option and would be plenty good enough for what I want.

I don't need it grabbable. I just need to be able to shape it. It's for an animated character I made. The character works ok but it just looks really weird because the arm moves at the elbow and unfortunately to do that I had to make the upper arm thin layer and the lower arm thick. It's ok from a perfectly front view but as the angle of view changes it just looks deformed LOL.

You can still make Theck material, like Stephanie_Ravens said.

Hit R2 and X at the same time.

Do it a bunch of times in different places, because there is a chance of failure.

Then select them one by one. The ones that become thick, delete. The ones that just move a little bit and stay theck, capture.

I don't think it's smearable, but it'll be corner editable.

You can also make a 1.3/1.7 and 2.3/2.7 thick block.

They just change back when you delete 'em.

You can still place it properly for, say, gas that doesn't kill you...
