Pseudo Lighting effects
Archive: 4 posts
I hear a lot of complaining about how the psp version doesn't have any lighting, fog effects etc. It's also a shame how horror/atmospheric levels don't look dark etc. at all. But there's actually a few ways to bypass this. Sorry if people already know this Techniques/tricks: Darkness: 1. Put a layer of "crystal clear glass" material on the front most thin layer make it really big. Sticker the "black gradient" sticker on it(make it really big and sticker it so that the darkest part of the gradient isn't showing). There are two options after that. Either corner edit it so it covers the whole level, OR connect it to a PTD(player tracking device). Use different coloured gradients for different effects(for example orange could be used for a sunset Fog: 1. Put a layer of "crystal clear glass" material on the front most thin layer and make it really big. Sticker the "grey gradient" sticker on the glass(sticker it so that only the grey part of the gradient is showing) and keep stickering it with X until you get the desired fogginess(walk behind it with sackboy to check). Use different coloured gradients for different coloured fog Backgrounds: 1. Backgrounds actually change the lighting/darkness of the level slightly. For example, The Wedding background makes the level slightly duller(ideal for murder mystery levels etc.). Experiment with different backgrounds for best results. Light beams: 1. This isn't a new technique. It was used for the spotlights in the Tinsel Town story mode levels. For best results, make your beam of light out of crystal clear glass and use a gradient of your choice to sticker it(turn the gradient sticker upside down and sticker near the top for best results). The effect looks even better if you use it in conjunction with tip no.1 from the Darkness section because putting crystal clear glass behind another layer of crystal clear glass makes the glass behind it turn invisible( moving the glass away makes it visible again) but you can still see the sticker so it makes a very good effect. Is this in the right section? | 2010-03-08 12:08:00 Author: Unknown User |
Nice tips PaddyJ. I'm keeping this page in my favourites, so that when my problem (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=23287-My-PSP-keeps-shutting-down) is fixed, I can use these tips for creating in my levels. Excellent tips PaddyJ! I'll keep it in mind when making future levels. It might be a good idea to alert CyberSora of it so it can be put in his/her guide. | 2010-03-08 18:28:00 Author: Fastbro Posts: 1277 |
Made a mistake. For fog you use "grey gradient". Also, I'm in the process of making a "murder mystery" type level so I can showcase it in all it's fanciness. Also, I don't know if PTD work on PSP, but in my level, to save thermo/effort, I made the worlds laziest player tracking device(long strip of thin layer metal with 5 creature wheels and a brain with the thin layer glass attached). | 2010-03-08 18:55:00 Author: Unknown User |
