Im new here and I keep on reading about how you must be a certain rank to get a code. It is really confusing me. Can someone please clear this up for me?

Well.. as you grow in activity, your title will change (lint, thread, patch of cloth) as well as when you gain rep your green bars will accumulate and change the hover message (if you point at the green bars). Not sure what you mean by getting a code though.. Possibly if you share the thread in question, I might be able to clear up the confusion.

I suppose your talking about the Beach Background? I once had a requirement that you needed a code to get the background, but that is no longer necessary, the level is unlocked.

Yes, I've wondered this for a while. When do you get to be able to change what the rank says like how jww's one says universeunderconstruction? EDIT: Before I posted this I was fuzz ball and now I am patch of cloth!

I'll post some links later, but basically: Rank: This is based on how many posts you have. It updates automatically. Lint, fuzzball, patch of cloth, sack, sackperson, sackperson private. I think that's how it goes. Custom titles are bought with experience, but experience is down at the moment. Rep: You get +1 rep whenever someone thanks your post. There's also adding or subtracting reputation which should only be used if someone does you a big favor, or on the other hand, if someone is being very inappropriate here. Adding or subtracting reputation depends on the adder/subtractor's rep. Rep is represented by the green bars under people's avatars.

You can also the option to change your title if you donate to the site. Positive rep can also be given if for example someone goes out of the way to help someone else or makes a really awesome post and you wish to honor their efforts a bit.
