How do I make a motor bolt stop a certain spot?
Archive: 8 posts
Sorry about all the questions lately but I'm still kind of new at creating. Anyways, I'm making a miniature rocket for a side quest in my level, and can't seem to figure out how to work it right. I put an item with a mag key inside the rocket which triggers a mag switch, which causes the door of the rocket to close. I have another mag switch on the door and a switch near the ceiling of the rocket. Once the key hits the switch, the rocket activates, but the door continues to close and gets to a point where it stops triggering the switch. I tried blocking the door with a tiny bit of material but after a few seconds it snaps off and dissapears. Any ideas? | 2010-03-05 23:12:00 Author: Infernox Posts: 93 |
im new and currently working on my first ever level myself, i dont know if this would work but could be worth a try, have you tried one shot setting | 2010-03-05 23:20:00 Author: sorrowthedark Posts: 125 |
That wouldn't change anything. | 2010-03-05 23:22:00 Author: Infernox Posts: 93 |
There are many ways of stopping a motor bolt from moving, including tamland's incremental bolt, but for this purpose I think it would be far too complex. Depending on if you need the wheel or not, you could: Turn it into dissolve. Have it dissolve when it reaches a certain point with mag switch/key of colour A, but also have a key of colour B on there too (and a colour B switch nearby) so when the wheel dissolves the effect is permanent. hook up your current mag switch to a piston with mag switches/keys on it that control the bolt. Customise the piston's settings/combine it with other logic to get the effect you want. Or, if neither of these are suitable, give me a shout and I'll suggest something else. | 2010-03-05 23:35:00 Author: Holguin86 Posts: 875 |
Not sure how you have your door working, but wouldn't just a wobble both with a switch set to directional work for your needs? Sorry if I am not visualizing your issue properly. I excel at self confusion. | 2010-03-05 23:40:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Like jwwphotos said, a wobble bolt is a good idea. But if it needs to be a motor bolt, just emit an invisible piece of dark matter in the way of the moving object to stop it. | 2010-03-05 23:47:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I'll try out the wobble bolt later, if that doesn't work I'll try some of the other things that were posted. | 2010-03-06 00:03:00 Author: Infernox Posts: 93 |
