Im really hesistant about creating any more levels on lbp

Archive: 12 posts

So i was working my first level for lbp psp . i had nearly a week spent on my level and it was turning out surprisingly good. However, one day after about an hour of working on my level , it froze. I had heard about the freezing/data corrupting bug in lbp through this forum so my first instinct was to panic. I started up lbp and clicked on my level and what do you know. It freezes and turns off at the loading screen. After some time getting frustrated and looking all over the net on how to fix this i just decided to give it up and start over. So i started again and decided to put some different touches in. Again i got about a week in. Then AGAIN it froze on me and wouldnt start up. I really want to create a level and share it on the community to see what others think about it but how can i if everytime i get close to finish it freezes. So my question is. Is there any way at all to fix this bug of mine?2010-03-05 00:04:00

Sorry, but no. I can suggest to stop what you're doing, though. Like, do you put too many complex items in one spot? Do you try to use a gltich?

Think back on what you keep doing right before the screen freezes. Once you realize what the problem is, do it differently, like limit the amount of the complex object, glitches, etc.. It always works for me.

No matter what, DON'T STOP CREATING. There are very simple ways to deal with all of those issues, and it would be a shame if you were to quit now.

There are several levels of glitches. There's the small crash which makes you lose 5 mins of work. Then there's the bigger crash where the level you've been working on becomes unloadable and unfixable. Finally, your entire LBP save file can die forcing you to start the game all over again.

The solution to all of these is backups. Backups, backups, backups. Say it with me.

To safeguard against the biggest nastiest bug, otherwise known as a "corrupt profile", you must back up your entire save data file. I recommend doing this weekly if you create a lot, or perhaps monthly. Definitely run a backup after completing story mode and/or acing all levels - you will be glad you did.

To safeguard against the corrupt level bug, make backup copies of the level you're creating on My Moon. Every 30 minutes of create time or so, save the level and exit create mode. Select the level, select "copy", and select an open crater on My Moon. Keep several copies at once, and to make them easier to organize add version numbers to the ends of the level name. It's quick, easy, and will save you a lot of heartache. Trust me.

To safeguard against the little crashes just remember to save your level often. Every few minutes of create time just save. Having trouble remembering to save or make a backup? Use a kitchen timer set to 5 or 10 minutes. Seriously.

There you go! Follow these steps and you will never lose more than 30 minutes of work at the very worst. Easy. Now go create something so we can all play it!

I am recalling that Taffey also had a thread about how you could make a backup of the whole thing, into the PC, I am going to do that, but first I will try to find it.2010-03-05 19:43:00

Awesome! A stitch in time saves nine, so to speak. Glad to hear that you're back on track and getting things done in create mode.

Soo..... When can we expect your new level?

Do not fret, I suffered the same fate as you my friend. I had to wipe my entire file and I lost my level. However, not succumbing into darkness, I shrugged off my misfortune and here I am, 3:15 AM, plaything through the story again to unlock my precious treasury so that I may forge my thoughts into wondrous blades of imagination once again.2010-03-29 09:16:00
