The Great Tree of Hugo

The Great Tree of HugoZynax555
Venture through a mountainous forest trying to escape the wrath of the giant Hugo.
This is my first published level (second level if your counting my unpublished "test level") any sort of feedback would be much appreciated as I've now learned that the comments section in lbp itself yields little to no constructive feedback. Here are some pictures of the level.

Just played this and for a second level it's got some great stuff going on for it.

+ The tree is neat when it falls and I love that you can get inside it.
+ Your other trees (with the green tops) look great - nice geometry
+ Layer usage in the section before the trees and the tree climb at the end is well done. You show you understand layers very well in these areas (you have some areas where the sections connect that are three layers thick and flat though - perhaps vary this or add some scenery so they don't stand out compared to the other layer work)
+ I love the story and that eye popping in the window and the tattooed arm made me lol.
+ Great platforming on the tree section. Hard but fair.

I'm really looking forward to more work from you as this as an early level shows great promise! Thanks for the experience. I rated it 4 stars.

Really enjoyed playing this level. Gave it 5 stars and a 'fun' tag because this level was simply fun to play. This is pure platforming at its best. As morgan pointed out, there were two sections that had great layer usage that made for some really interesting gameplay. The visuals were simple yet really well done.

My only real critique is at the beginning when you're supposed to chop the tree down. After getting shot downwards and left, the bubbles lead me to believe thats the way I'm supposed to go, and I mistakenly thought that big brown thing was the Tree I needed to chop down. I wasted a few minutes trying to figure out what I needed to do before I tried the other way. A little more indication you need to go back up to the right would be helpful.

Wow I never really thought about the bubbles misleading the player but that makes a lot of sense, I'll try to fix that up. Thanks for the feedback I'll keep it in mind while working on my next/current level.2010-03-04 21:25:00
