Online Create Contest Finalists! (v2)

In the last round of voting, one of the authors was found to be altering the results through multiple accounts. The level (Dead Space: New Arrivals) has been disqualified, and our number 6 selection has taken its place. This time, we will be watching the results even more closely to avoid any more of that. The poll is now public, but the results will not be viewable by anyone (except site staff) until the voting ends. We will also be watching any new accounts made from here on out, to ensure they aren't being used to sway the voting either. A separate discussion thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=23438-Poll-Cheating&p=405861) exists specifically for this issue.

The 5 levels we felt stood out above the rest are listed below (in alphabetical order) with the published PSN emboldened and green.

how did this new list came together? (and in such a short period)

What will be the concequences besides the voting restarting? (for the cheater etc.)
because imho we should ban him hard.

Will there be an official apology from steve? as even if he didnt know what was going on, he is still part of a team that cheated.

imho immidiatly adding a new thread where people can vote is wrong, and you should postpone the voting untill more people will know whats up.
nobody has gotten a notification about what happened so starting the votes now is even unfair.

Wow that's a bolt from the blue. I just logged on for the first time tonight and this is one of the first things I see. I thought it was the same thread and was just coming to look at the latest posts. I'm shocked.

While I'm happy that our level is now included ( especially happy for bakscratch as he did the majority of it and I hope he feels a bit better about things now ) I wouldn't have wanted to get in this way. I don't expect us to win against such awesome levels but it's nice to be included in the list anyway. Thankyou.

If it was just 1 of the team that was altering the results I'm very disappointed in them but at the same time very sad for the other one as it must be heartbreaking to make such a great level and make the final only to have it scuppered by the foolish actions of your partner. I am Sheila Owner of LAN Center Gamers Network in Milwaukee, WI and Mother of MonkeysBoys who where the co creators of Dead Space New Arrivals and we displayed their level to be played at our Gaming Center this weekend while we had a tournament and invited people to play it and vote for it...hence the reasons for the multiple votes for them and it is just complete bull **** that they would be disqualified because we invited people to create an account after playing their level if they believed they deserved a vote in their opinion. We also invited family and friends to do the same....now is that not the point of a contest??? When we have tournaments their is always people who have perks over some but we do not disqualify them for it, it is just a part of competition. I think you should reconsider your poor decision and let the leve compete as it was...it is a great level made by talented individuals who put countless hours into it and it deserves it's change to compete! I appreciate your enthusiasm Mrs. Navarro, but a simple examination of each account provides enough evidence that at least three sets of two accounts belonged to the same individual. If you can somehow prove otherwise, we will happily reverse our decision and reinstate the level, but the fact of the matter is the accounts are much too similar in nature for all of them to have been created by separate individuals. I would be happy to publish the usernames and email addresses of each account and explain why they are evidence of this if you feel I am being unreasonable.		2010-03-03 20:13:00

Wow..... so, you directly had people come up, play "their" level, then (after that one level) created accounts in order to vote for your sons level?

That sounds pretty horrible and skews the results in your sons favor. THEN you come on here shouting (typing) expletives?

But still, without playing any of the other levels you shouldn't have told your "Colleagues" to vote for MonkeysBoys level, which would have skewed the results anyhow, Simply because your "friends" voted for it doesn't mean that it was a fair vote, I respect LBPC and its staff and i believe they made the right decision. All accounts created were linked to monkeyboys, and not to Steve_Big_Guns. Thus far, Steve is not shown to be at fault here.

Let this be a warning to everyone else. Let voting occur fairly, or we will have no choice but to discontinue the contest. It has gone less-than-swimmingly thus far, and we are trying to do the best that we can.

Regardless of your justifications, you cannot make multiple accounts representing the same individual and attempt to sway the results of a contest in your son's favor. You say your son worked weeks on that level? Well, what about the 42 other people who worked equally as long on their levels? Do they deserve to lose because you decided your son deserves to win, regardless of the stakes? Look, Mrs. Navarro, I appreciate your obvious love and care for your son, but do not expect me to allow cheating in a publicly operated contest. We are impartial and we do not tolerate cheating in any form.

His family was only helping him, and I believe it was only his mother that made two accounts for one person (in this case, herself). It is a technicality, and it is sad to see the level be disqualified on such grounds. However, I'm sure everyone can appreciate that there can be no grey area when it comes to cheating, so being very strict about this is the only way we can go about fairly dealing with what happened. Thanks to those who vote for Monkeysboys on the Little Big Planet Create Online Contest, however, LBP has disqualified them for "Multiple Voting" which is a load of complete BS! As I mentioned before, I cannot allow a grey area when it comes to cheating. Contests such as these are nothing if they aren't rigidly structured, and with prizes worth over $100 on the line, I simply cannot allow it.		2010-03-03 20:56:00

I believe everything is right as it stands now. Although it isn't right to punish someone for something they didn't do (monkeysboys and steve), you shouldn't have intervened AT ALL (talking to the mother, of course). I mean, it could be ok to have played ALL of the levels as stated before, but stubborn as you are, you played that one and decided to make a mess of the results.

Having more friends and family capable of making multiple accounts isn't what the contest is about, so think twice about that.

Also, it was CLEARLY mentioned in the Online Create Voting Thread that multiple accounts made for voting was against the rules. I don't think it would be fair to blame LBPC's staff for something that you were clearly at fault for.

I highly doubt that there is even a "Mother" involved at all. I'm sure any mother would have the common decency to know that cheating is immoral, and that they would inevitably be caught and disqualified.

Too let you all now, i did more research and found that while it was acceptable for monkey boys family to create a account and vote, monkey boys mother ( the only one) created 2. So to clear that up, Steve had nothing to do with it and he seemed pretty cool with the fact that he was disqualified. Monkey boy in no way encouraged his family and by the way his mother acted, Im going to guess that she created 2 accounts and voting twice without monkey boy knowing. Aww, that's too bad for MonkeysBoys and Steve_Big_Guns and their level. A shame that cheating was the follow up to such an amazing level. Look, Luos... as I explained back when you made the comment the first time. We did not go through and replay all of the levels. As mrsupercomputer states above, we had already judged all of the levels, and the lack of Dead Space: New Arrivals did not shake up the way that we judged them. If a level was in the top five, why would it not be in the top six? That would make zero sense.

This is not a new list, it merely had the sixth level added in Dead Space: New Arrivals' stead.		2010-03-04 20:33:00

Reading through some of these posts im starting to become disappointed with some of the negativity and aggressivness lately . There was none of this when i signed up to this wonderful site. If you want to be negative i have a perfect site for you, Gamefaqs. Especially dont be bashing levels asking why they are on the lists, every level up there is quality, its not favoritism. Wow~ What a surprise . I was told that the vote has started. So I thought I'd check it out. I didn't expect to see so many complain.

This is how I see this contest: A great opportunity for those talented creators get together and create better lvls for the community. No matter who wins, players get to see more creative ideas and have more fun. So in the end, the real winner is the community.

Me and Spawner met on LBP awhile ago. I respect him as a great creator. Soon after the online create mode was available, We decided to make a lvl together, then we found out about this contest on LBPC, we thought why not join it. That’s what happened.

I felt sorry we didn’t have enough time to make the kinda lvl we had in mind and the end result wasn’t very good. So, we didn’t expect anything… It was just one of 2 million lvls made in LBP. Not a big deal. We didn’t meant to upset anyone. For those who think we don’t deserve to be on the list, please ignore us and vote for the one you like the best. I’d be happy if any of those great lvls wins. And of cause, I’m really appreciated for those who voted for us.

I voted for wooden perception because i thought it was the most fun to play also the obstacles were very original. I didnt finish all the levels though because i tried bakstratch/mistervistas level at least 3 times but i always kept dying in the fire so i didnt want to restart the entire thing. I enjoyed Gone Missing.... and I also enjoyed that there was such diversity in the levels listed. I think Gone Missing deserves to be on the list JUST for the spinning circles effect!

Come on, people - it's all subjective. Just have fun with it. Treat the rest of this contest with kid gloves so we don't end up with another catastophe. I was thinking about this the other day when it all blew up again. The initial 5 were all completely different and then one of them gets replaced with #6, which itself was a completely different style to any of the others. Yeah.. I agree, not quite the fun and happy place it used to be.

I feel bad for those that worked hard and entered this contest to have their efforts tossed about in such a manner. They tried their best and we should be thankful and applaud their efforts. Vote for your winner and wish everyone good luck. I never can understand why it's so hard to try to be nice to one another.

Before any voting started I explained how competitions like this cause hate. Everytime, someone who didn't even make a level for the contest reacted by saying "don't derail the thread". Then confuced cartman or computermc or whatever he's called deletes my post and silences me. Well now look at what happened. I have to admit I enjoyed watching how this waspsnest boiled over because it proves the point how much hate contests like this generate.
I also predicted Steve's level was going to win by false votes but that message got deleted o course because as long as you say something that cc or computermc like then it's not derailing the thread. When u have critique however then u get the stinky eye. To see that's a fact just scroll back through the messages and you will see many that have hardly anything to do with the competition but nobody telling the poster he's derailing the competition. Messages like this one however are allmost allways followed up by attempts to silince the poster. You could fill a page with a post that's just about how wonderfull cc is, that he worked so hard for this competition and this site just for us and that he is allways right etc. and you will not get silenced but if you publicly doubt the competition, if submissions should be spotlighted before the voting, if it's right that cartman or his crew decide who are lbp's best creaters then you will see infrictions pooring in.
Look at jwwphotos comments for instance. They're often just bashing comments meant for the people who don't agree with something about the competition. You would almost think he's an undercover moderater or a snitch cause why else did he write so many comments in the co create threads? He's not a contestant allthough he behaves like one so what is his role here? To me it really derailes the conversation when people who have nothing to do with the contest walk on the stage that often
Now don't start about it's just a game etc cause I believe it was monkey... who said that earlier and that if it was up to him the contest should be cancelled because he didn't really care about the crown lol. The point is competitions like this and creaters who republish ruin the game.
O btw cartman: in your message you explained to me that when someones levels don't get spotlighted it's because the levels are bad and not because you prevented the level from being spotlighted. Let me tell you: I NEVER made a thread about any of my levels so I never tried to get any of my levels spotlighted, so you obviously misunderstood what I was saying, so telling me that is uncalled for. You seem to assume a lot of things like saying I must be under the age of 13 because my birthdate was obviously fake... That's why I don't respond to your messages privately because I expect no reasonable feedback from you.
@ mistervista and backscratsh I'd like to say: I never really understood what you 2 were complaining about before but it's aqwardly silent now you got into the top 5. I hope it's not just because you want the crown because that wouldn't make you look pretty at all. I hope you'll clear that up soon. I voted for your level because it's allmost exactly like the story level but I have to admit, the other levels are very close to that aswell.
I'd also like to say, before computermc deletes this message again, that I wouldn't mind if the top 22 will be posted but I hope the reasons why the levels ended up in that place will be given. It was kind of a pointless exercise for the 16 others if they won't get any comments on their levels at all.
Ps I never thought the top 5 got voted in in some kind of clique'esque way (exept for killzonequin and computermc's thing maybe). I believe that was mistervista's point and since comments tend to be treated as one here I thought I'd point this out. I am aware however that lbpc operates as a clique in many other ways. What I said about silencing proves it or like I mentioned in a previous (deleted) post: getting crowned for community efforts proves it aswell.

The level has a intermitent glitch, right after you get your photo taken you are supposed to be sprung up, it doesn't always work. Otherwise the level works perfectly, and is bursting at the seems with ideas. BTW how many pushups can you do?		2010-03-08 04:55:00

Alright Clark, thanks mate. i'll have a look at that part of the level when i get on there next, I'll be on final fntasy 13 tomorrow though . Push ups. well i just done a 1min test and done 72 commando push ups within 1min but i've just eatten a curry lol. I have to be tested every week how many i can do within 2mins coz i'm joinin the Rmc, how many pull ups and how many sit ups within 2mins and my cardio over the course of about 4miles every week so it varies. we have to meet up at our local afco for training every tuesday with one of the marine's. There might be some complaining if No Peg's doesn't win. Considering it would have likely won if the first vote wasn't canceled.
