Cardboard wood, aka cream wood - make any shape you want with it
Archive: 37 posts
A similar method has been found before, you can find it here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=21481-How-to-make-a-Story-Community-Material-editable&highlight=editable+non-editable). Although it had been found before, I did find this on my own and obviously someone had done it before me... lol I have seen this thing before, but only as the shape of Fridas head. I found a way to use it as your own. You can't "paint" with it but you can overlay it without it being two blocks inside eachother, and the best part... You can corner edit it. It looks like this, it's the one in the middle. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto-2.jpg?t=1267619678 There are 1. wood that looks like this cardboard wood 2. cardboard wood 3. cardboard As you can see, it seems to be a mixture of cardboard and that wood in the picture, that's where the name comes. So, how did I get a perfect block of this material? Follow this easy step by step guide to succeed... 1. Get the butler, or Frida the bride. I used the butler http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto_2-4.jpg?t=1267620003 2. Make everything except the head dissolve http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto_3-4.jpg?t=1267620047 3. Attach a switch to the dissolve materials and activate it, you now have only the head. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto_4-2.jpg?t=1267620101 4. Remove stickers http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto_5-2.jpg?t=1267620128 5. Make it huge, glue some trigger explosives to it, like this. Sackboy is that little dot there... http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto_6-1.jpg?t=1267620210 6. Since the material behaves like cardboard, you can destroy it with explosives http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto_1-4.jpg?t=1267619679 7. After triggering those giant explosives, find your little block http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto_7-1.jpg?t=1267620416 8. Now, capture it. If it isn't a perfect block, or it doesn't align properly when you rotate it in grid mode, you can place it and then corner edit it, and then capture it again. Hope this helps, although it's kinda useless but a useable glitch anyway. I'm pretty sure you can do the same thing on any other destroyable Mm only materials, like the cardboard sponge on the meercat thingy. UPDATE More materials unlocked with this technique http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto_6-2.jpg?t=1267726758 Cardboard sponge | 2010-03-03 12:51:00 Author: napero7 Posts: 1653 |
This is really interesting thanks for this. | 2010-03-03 13:34:00 Author: lbpholic Posts: 1304 |
Nice dude. Ive been wondering if there were any more secret materials besidest the two from the islands theme. Thanks dude! | 2010-03-03 15:57:00 Author: damaz10 Posts: 771 |
that's really useful. Thanks! i don't know how they did it, but i got editable drawable lava material from someones level, all the different shapes, all drawable. can anyone shed some light on how they did it? | 2010-03-03 16:13:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
You haven't come across a material that's as light as cardboard but strong as steel have you? If so, let me know because I've been needing something like this for ages! | 2010-03-04 06:42:00 Author: M_R_Enigma Posts: 161 |
I was messing around in create mode again, and I have some good news. You can do the same thing with carboard sponge from that meerkat bouncer thingy. You know the one where you jump on the belly and the head pops up. I almost gave up as it didn't let me corner edit it right away, but after a few times of resizing and exploding, it worked just like with the cardboard wood. It looks like this (normal cardboard to the right) http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/napero7/APhoto_6-2.jpg?t=1267726758 I'm not sure if you could use these if I publish them in a level but if I happen to collect some more materials, I could allow you to get all these as prizes. | 2010-03-04 18:26:00 Author: napero7 Posts: 1653 |
Prizes are no good; we can't edit them. Just publish as copyable. Can you do the same with the lava material? That would rule! | 2010-03-04 18:39:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
Unfortunately no, at least not with this technique since it's not destroyable with explosives. Maybe I'll find another way | 2010-03-04 18:42:00 Author: napero7 Posts: 1653 |
no no! you can. i said before, i have drawable lava material, no joke. i got it from a level. i'll find the name. | 2010-03-04 19:17:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
I've seen corner-editable lava but not smearable lava. Also, some of the mgs turrets have cardboard-gekko skin metal. | 2010-03-04 21:38:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
o really? cardboard gekko skin? i'll look into that. i'll find the name and author of the level that gives away drawable lava. it's really handy but i have no idea how they did it. | 2010-03-04 21:41:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
sorry to double post but i found the name. *AHEM* Lava Materials!!! by ianbarnes (this has smearable lava) also, just in case anybody wants some of these all sponge glass shapes by DORK_HUNTER (smearable glass shapes) @Incinerator22 there is cardboard gekko skin (well, gekko armor plating but i guess that's what you meant). you were right. and by using the method this thread's about, i've now got drawable (smearable) cardboard gekko armor plating. thanks Incinerator22! | 2010-03-05 07:35:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
I have copyable glitch collection called "Premium collection of Glitches" that contains lava material and those others. | 2010-03-05 09:45:00 Author: waD_Delma Posts: 282 |
I'm trying and trying to get editable cardboard gekko armor, but it doesn't seem to matter how many bombs I throw at it: it stays uneditable. What am I missing? I dissolved all the bits I didn't want, crushed the creature brain and bombed the hell out of the the cardboard armor, but I can't seem to get the corner editor to work on it. Incidently, the lava material I've got is editable/smearable. I got it from a level called "Glitch Magma material + tutorial" by Hippy1995. Have you guys noticed that lava is actually a type of wood? It floats in water. | 2010-03-05 18:53:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |

Yeah, it has the wood sound. So I've tried and tried and tried. Doesn't seem to matter what I do. I've expanded and exploded repeatedly, captured, copy/pasted. Nothing seems to do the trick. I did get a bit that would let me place it overlapping somehow (like the tv glitch). With overlapping material you can make peach floaty that's superfloaty, or metal that's superheavy. | 2010-03-05 20:08:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
weird. all i did was get the pop up sentry turret, dissolve the turret part and the base, disable the bomb, dissolve the back and flat wheel thing and crush the brain, leaving two little gekko armor plating bits (gekko cardboard). i got rid of one, made the other really big. used the method in the thread to make it square, saved it and it was editable. sorry about that though. i don't get why it works for me and not you. | 2010-03-05 20:28:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
Sent you a friend request. If you have some time, could we get together in oc? I can watch you do it and maybe I'll see what I'm doing wrong, or if it just works for you and not me, I could just capture it when you make it. | 2010-03-05 20:58:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
I have lava, secret flower, and sponge glass ALL SMEARABLE in my secret materials level. (My PSN is littlebigmeteor) I also have a level where you are able to get Cream wood, and for hearts I'll unlock the box that has the Spongeboard in it. Check it out. | 2010-03-06 18:42:00 Author: littlebigmeteor Posts: 396 |
To be honest though, I don't see a point in gekko skin cardboard because of the cow glitch | 2010-03-06 19:36:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
whats the cow glitch? | 2010-03-06 19:38:00 Author: littlebigmeteor Posts: 396 |
It is this (http://www.googleitfirst.com/). | 2010-03-06 19:54:00 Author: Deviantgeek Posts: 386 |
Google is my friend. | 2010-03-06 20:00:00 Author: littlebigmeteor Posts: 396 |
google failed me. the cow glitch is dead. gekkoboard looks pretty cool as well. it shines just like gekko armor plating and has a very small, almost invisible, cardboard trim. i like it. anyone else know a secret material? | 2010-03-06 20:01:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
Why do people call it the cow glitch? It was always called the material glitch back in the day, or at least, that's all I ever heard it called. It's kinda' funny that Mm seems to have used the glitch themselves on some items. And yeah, the material glitch was patched before the Mgs pack, so the only way to get lightweight, destructible gekko armor (gekko skin is a completely different material) is to rip it from the turrets (but for some reason I just can't seem to make it editable). | 2010-03-06 20:19:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
i used to think the cow glitch was something to do with the cow on boom town. i was wrong. | 2010-03-06 20:21:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
Woohoo, I got it!! I don't know why it was so easy for everybody else to extract the material, but I had the ****dest time doing it. Finally pulled it off by using two controllers. I had controller 2 do all the legwork and then captured the material with controller 1 and it worked just fine. Of course, it worked for controller 2, also, so I guess it was just me somehow? Anyway, I've got cardboard armor that I can use in my mechs now, so I'm happy. | 2010-03-06 20:57:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
it is really useful. i wonder if there are any other materials like it? | 2010-03-06 21:00:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
@sehven: any chance I can get that from you? | 2010-03-06 21:02:00 Author: littlebigmeteor Posts: 396 |
I'd be happy to give it to you, but I'm pretty sure it'll be uneditable by anybody else now that I've captured it. Are you having a hard time getting the material, too? | 2010-03-06 21:09:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
yeah, I am. I just added you. I'm going to try and play with the editing thing once I get it, so we'll see. | 2010-03-06 21:12:00 Author: littlebigmeteor Posts: 396 |
U STOLE MY MOTHOD >:@ https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=21481-How-to-make-a-Story-Community-Material-editable&highlight=editable+non-editable SEE LOOK THE DATE OF MY POST AND OF YOU POST | 2010-04-10 14:11:00 Author: ViniciusBR11 Posts: 546 |
U STOLE MY MOTHOD Perhaps. Although they're not exactly the same, as yours implies you need to use dark matter, when in fact you don't. Neither of these methods will be 100% successful anyway. As I stated in another thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=23748-The-Complete-Guide-to-Secret-Materials-and-Stickers):- Regardless of whether it's a prize bubble (community locked or not), or a copyable level, you can generally make them smearable by slicing the object into two pieces. One piece will be attributed to the original author, but the other will lose the association, and will be treated by the game as if you created it from scratch. It should be fairly obvious which is which, but otherwise you can capture both pieces and look at the "Created By" info. Update: Also, after testing, it seems as if the "bomb method" is just a variation of this technique. It's only necessary to split the object into two pieces - after capturing, one of the pieces will be editable and the other will not. There's no guarantee that the smaller of the two pieces will be the one which is editable. | 2010-04-10 18:36:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
I just responded to the PM but also wanted to post here just to be clear. I found this glitch by my own, and was not aware of the fact that it had been found before. There is no need to call me a thief just because I happened to find the same thing. Although I never said it before, I was quite sure this had been found before me but hadn't seen it anywhere so I decided to post here. | 2010-04-10 21:55:00 Author: napero7 Posts: 1653 |
