The Heart of the Jungle - Part 2blootack
http://i458.photobucket.com/albums/qq307/murray55669/2-1.jpgThe second part of my 'Heart of the Jungle' series. Slightly longer than the first, but the thermo was begging fo mercy, so still far too short
Part 2 out of who-knows-how-many. The next one is already under construction, and will contain almost NO TREES and therefore will be more platforming focused.

WARNING: extremely short, and the scoreboard doesn't seem to want to work, no matter what I did. I made a second one that you can 'teleport' to from the first though, hopefully it works.

Any feedback (esp. from those who have actually played the level ) is much appreciated. Have fun!

We just finished your level, here's our thoughts:

- The level looked great. The jungle was densely packed and had a great feel which reminded us of a combination of the old donkey kong country and Monkey Island games visually.
- The gameplay was fun and challenging
- The storyline was simple but effective
- It had a real feeling of depth to it, in that the way you placed trees and other features forced the player to use all 3 layers

We did run into a few problems on the way. Firstly the scoreboard as you already know didn't work. It was a really good idea to put in an alternative which you can teleport to, but when we finally got to the scoreboard it looked kind of bland and out of place compared to the rest of the level. Why not make the most of the situation and build the teleporting into the plotline somehow? That way it won't feel 'broken'.

Secondly, when we were 'captured' we didn't die... we just got stuck in the hole and had to kill ourselves. Were we supposed to be killed by gas or something?
Finally, it was very short which was a shame because aside from the buggy bits it was very enjoyable. Have you read Comph's thermo guide in the tutorial section? I think you should probably be able to get more out of your thermo than that!

If you have time please check out my Discworld level!

Thank you for the helpful comments, I will take a look at the thermo guide you recommended. The 'teleport to scoreboard' thing was a quick fix, as I had to go to school, I should probably go back and work on it a bit more... The trap, however, worked every time for me... not sure what happened there, a big cloud of gas always sweeps in and kills you when I was testing it. Very odd. Also, I will take a look at your Discoworld level next time I'm on LBP ^^2010-03-03 20:11:00
